Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

A whole lot of nothing.
Global warming armegedonists, meet the Dalton minimum. God / Nature / The universe laughs at your pitiful obeisance to a trace gas as the determiner of the Earth’s climate.

So one branch of NASA says we are burning up, while the other side says we are going to freeze. How to cover off the grant money NASA. The blurb I read sad they believed Stradavari was born at the start of the Maunder Minimum and made his violins with dense wood from that time. So Strad fiddled while Rome froze.. However, slow growing trees of say 40/45 years wouldn’t grow vwery big I wouldn’t think. But I don’t work for split personality NASA. What do I know/
My mistake, I thought this was an infinitely magnified artistic rendering of the brain cell of the Right Honorable Prime Minister titled “Sunny Daze”, and sub-titled “A Look at Space”.
Hardening the power grid would be a good idea. Maybe we can get some of the billions the Liberals are going to waste directed towards something useful like that.
Scientists, really top scientists, really top people in their field of Eco stuff have determined that the sun has NO influence on heating the earth … er, no influence on higher than normal or lower than normal temperatures. They insist that the sun is just too far away … and that space is a really really cold vacuum … so any variation in the Suns rays is just lost in space. It is very scientific to completely ignore the sun in all of the highly advanced computer modeling of the earths climate. On the other hand, if you take a shower longer than 5 minutes, the fossil fuels needed to heat that water will spew enough co2 into the atmosphere to raise the seas by 10 meters.
But the GOOD news is that all we need to do is to surrender to every edict issued by the EPA and give total control of our government to the United Nations … and then the planet will be saved. Although it may be necessary to institute euthanasia for everyone at the age of 47.
I know you Canadians just laugh when us Yanks whine about the cold, but good grief it’s 7 degrees right now here in South Jersey. So, yeah, the mni Ice Age is already here.
In Ontario our green crazed government will have us more broke and freezing in the dark with her solar panels and bird blenders no matter what Mr Sun decides to do. However, if you wish to buy a $65,000.00 dollar electric car she’ll give you $14,000.00 bucks towards it. I’m sure her boy Justin has convinced her budgets balance themselves as well.
Climate change is real. It has been happening for over 4 billion years our planet has changed from a molten state to a snowball and has settled somewhere between those two states. Currently climate change is being used by liberal governments as a distraction from the colossal and unsustainable debts.
The bigger the debt the louder they scream “change”. A concern for the environment is healthy, an irrational fear of change is not.
You nailed it exactly Bill!
It’s probably nothing, until it gets labeled as anthropogenic and the lefties try to fix us.
Sid, in contrast to the almost continuous cold on the east coast, out here in the prairie hinterland of western Canada it has been a mild winter.
So, in light of the evidence shown in this article, any time now the leftists will come up with wealth redistributing taxes on all cooling plants to slow down the advancement of the coming mini ice age.
The coming mini ice age will debunk Big Al’s and the rest of the global theorists on global warming who are bent on taking us back to the days of the little houses out back with half-moon windows for ventilation.
It will Liz but just try to wrest control of the worlds life blood away from the elites at that point.
What better time to control carbon and as such the population as when they need energy the most – in a cooling world.
The various eco-freak groups(Sierra Club,Greenpeace,EDF,Etc)now claim the sattlelite data is wrong that the worlds getting warmer well i trust the sattlelites more then i do a bunch of granola munching’ tree hugging’ gaia worshiping eco-freaks
I’m waiting for the AGW hysterics to claim that the nearly 19 year Pause is the result of their diligent efforts: “See, it’s working. We’ve got to keep on and do more.”
Of course. The Shiny Pony wants to maintain his–ahem–spotless reputation.
Liberals spend money on something useful? If that ever happens, we’ll need more air traffic controllers for all the airborne swine that will follow.
Gosh! Got me so worried that I went out and started up my truck and skidder just to get a bit more of that planet-warming CO2 into the atmosphere. Must be working; it was -31C at 7:00 am and now it’s up to -23C.
As with CAGW, science doesn’t really know what the efffect of a quiet sun will be. The media will of course portray it as imminent doom but I doubt it’ll be as dire as the little ice age. The modern world has much more resilience to climate change, warmer or cooler, than at any other time in human history. The biggest challenge is food production. Unlike the past we have the ability to add fertilizers, chemicals to enhance growth and use gmo to develop crops that resist heat, cold, pests, drought, ripen sooner and keep longer. We also have heating and cooling systems that keep us comfortable all year round. I don’t worry about cooling anymore than I do about warming.
It might provide entertainment value as CAGW activists desperately try to maintain their hypothesis that CO2 Almighty is the most important variable in climate change. Eventually, it’ll become obvious that one trace gas that makes up about 400 parts per million (that’s .000004) is only one small part of a huge, complicated system.
> about 400 parts per million (that’s .000004)
No, that is 4 parts per million, you are off by 100.
Try 0.000400 or 0.04% -it doesn’t sound like much but it keeps every plant living on Earth alive.
Correction – 400ppm is (.0004) . For some reason I got 4.0 x 10-6 stuck in my head. More coffe. 🙂
Thanks. I tried to submit a correcting post but apparently it got trapped in the filter: (.0004 = .04%)

It you never see any agw studies mentioning solar activity. With it being so quiet over the last decade they could have used it as an excuse for the lack of working they predict.
My sense is they don’t want to admit there are stronger forces than man when it comes to the climate.
But on February 13th:
http://spaceweathergallery.com/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=122778
This presents NO problem for the warmists/climate changers, none. They will simply shift gears with nary a word of apology, and turn their rhetoric toward saving the planet from global cooling, complete with the same taxation and wealth distribution.
I can hear Al-lah Gore now, ” we were rightly alarmed in the 1970’s by the specter of global cooling and reacted, rightly, to what we thought was a new crisis, global warming. It turns out we were right about global cooling all along,so now let’s GO Forward and battle this new crisis”! And the masses will cheer,” thank you Al”.
Watch for Al’s latest documentary,”An Inconvenient truth Part Two”, “based on a TRUE event”.
You sound like an intelligent person regarding your correction to the PPM and percentage yet your comment that the trace amount of CO2 is responsible for the life of all plants on Earth is very wrong. Yes, the Earth’s greenhouse effect is responsible for that, but it is caused by all the greenhouse gasses of which water vapor is 97%, CO2 is about 3% and the others make up a tiny amount.
The IPCC was mandated to consider the effects of incremental CO2 – but not the overall natural effect of the global greenhouse gasses. Until you are able to tell me the overall natural effects on climate of the invisible gas, water vapor and the visible water, clouds, then how can anyone make such large and positive statements attributed to the trace gas CO2.
I am asking you to please consider this, fact check, and make your own study of the major contributor, water vapor’s influence; do not just discard this information.
“it keeps every plant living on Earth alive.” I.e. photosynthesis.
Eco-freaks claim backyard BBQ’s contribute the Global Warming which proves their stark raving stupid and out of their minds wtaching AVATAR or WATER WORLD while smoking Wacky weed from their hookas
You missed my point. A number can be small, even very small but still important. As a percentage of our atmosphere 0.04% seems small yet all life on Earth depends on it. (Except maybe some stuff hanging out around thermal vents in the sea ?) While I believe CO2 has a small impact on AGW I can’t prove that. It’s more complicated than a simple percentage comparison. OTOH just because 0.04% is crucial in one calculation does not mean it has much effect on others either. The science is not settled.
Re: Photo of sun with no spots.
Looks like the fog lights on my old Chrysler after the bugs get cleaned off!!
A song about spots in the sky. I worry not about the sun, the stars and the planets. I just worry about the forces that are holding it all together??

If it can’t be blamed on humans, it will be harder to justify more taxes and restrictions of freedoms.
Therefore, this will go away.
It’s not the warming effect of CO2 that plants need to stay alive. CO2 is what they eat, and what they are built from. Plants don’t get carbon from the soil at all. They take in CO2, and via photosynthesis, convert it to sugars and other carbohydrates, and release excess oxygen as a byproduct. No CO2, no plants. They die, and then we die.
I know, I know, and if wishes were horses we’d all be eating steak. It is however a known problem – the Carrington event was only 160 years ago – and we know that we can do things now to protect our power transmission systems. If we wait until a bis solar flare, or an EMP, it’s too late.
