Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Coyne discovers Liberals are corrupt Quebec favouritists, go figure
Bombardier bailout just more of the same old

Amazing the short, short memories that the mediots have, it was only 2004, yup, COyne was around then, when the Liberals were in full corrupt form……12 years, might as well be 1,000 years…..
More and more information coming out on poor screening of Syrian refugees.

A poll that needs your help:

Dan, I could not agree more.
A website keeping track of Shiny Pony’s promises:
https://www.trudeaumetre.ca/promise/4201
And also from that website, here’s a comment by someone that will help you understand the warped mind of the left:
“Do you want serious action on climate change, women’s rights, murdered and missing indigenous women, equality, affordable housing, etc, etc, etc, etc? Then dumping first-past-the-post is probably the single most important promise we need to hold Trudeau accountable on.
Progressives, being Greens, NDP, Liberal and a respectable chunk of small-c Conservatives care about those issues. The only way we’ll get regular progress on them is when the parties realize they can’t play silly-bugger with wedge issues anymore to try and win a majority.
Parliaments elected under proportional representation will, by their very nature, only support governments that will show progress on those issues.
The days where a government can be formed based on rump support from a minority slice of Canada’s voters, simply because they win a small plurality in enough ridings will be gone. Getting rid of first-past-the-post means future governments will much better reflect the will and desire of a majority of Canadians.
——— and a majority of Canadians *do* care about climate change, women’s rights, murdered and missing indigenous women, equality, affordable housing, etc, etc, etc, etc. Dumping first-past-the-post is a long term way to guarantee we’ll always have governments that care about them too.”
http://en.metapedia.org/wiki/Neoconservatism
“What neoconservatives really dislike about their “allies” among traditional conservatives is simply the fact that the conservatives are conservatives at all—that they support “this notion of a Christian civilization,” as Midge Decter put it, that they oppose mass immigration, that they criticize Martin Luther King and reject the racial dispossession of white Western culture, that they support or approve of Joe McCarthy, that they entertain doubts or strong disagreement over American foreign policy in the Middle East, that they oppose reckless involvement in foreign wars and foreign entanglements, and that, in company with the Founding Fathers of the United States, they reject the concept of a pure democracy and the belief that the United States is or should evolve toward it. ”

The latest Munich Agreement….since the last one worked so well:

BC
I highly doubt Canadians give a crap about the false fake in pushing lefty bs cause of man made global climate disruption warming change most people don’t give a sh$&t not even lefties …look how they live not what they say….as for indigenous women ….it’s easy most of the murderes are husbands and relatives so that’s that …as for affordable housing that is all about to be fixed right here in cow town …so ….next? Women’s rights? What rights do they currently not enjoy that men do?
Before you wax lyrical omn getting rid of first past the post have a look at Australia
Compulsory voting with preferences allocated
Which results in the current chaos in the federal senate
And the ability of smaller parties to leverage their preferences for paybacks
If you want something more extreme check Tasmania’s Hare Clark system – sort of Rubick’s Cube of elections
‘Taint all roses you’ll find unless you do it different
looks like it is a split if the three sections that indicate good performance are balanced off against the two that indicate bad performance.
Just wanted to ask all Europe, Canadian, British,… How are you enjoying Obama’s Arab spring?
Having fun yet?
250,000 + dead, 11-12 million Syrian refugees flooding into your countries.
All of you that wanted him relected,? what was it, 75 percentage of European citizens?
HAVING. FUN. YET ??
Sorry, Paul, … Lew..
OK How did the researchers know that a piece was sarcastic for them to correlate results against?
When being sarcastic, doesn’t everybody end with saying “slash sarc”.
Son of a Bitch should be on trial for War Crimes.
Probably have to give back his Nobel Peace prize…
I just don’t get all the hand wringing about murdered and missing aboriginal women. We know what’s happening to them, there is no mystery. Hint – and it’s not a secret gang of white men attacking them in formation.

Thanks for the video Lance. Very interesting stuff. I love to hear really smart people talk. A couple of comments:
1. Her analysis applies only to the English language and probably only to North American English. I’ll bet Chinese would be a tough one since it uses inflection in a different way than English.
2. What is the deal voice inflection these days? Hard for me to describe it. I hear it mostly in younger women. An example is at about 55 seconds into the video: “So I’m going to play you two different (pitch goes up) wave files.” Frequently this also appears in a declarative sentences which almost make the sentence sound like (raising pitch)a question. (sounds as if is a question). My 30 year old daughter speaks this way too. Drives me crazy.
Ah well, doesn’t matter. As I have said before, humans will be replaced by the AI but we must teach the AI to talk to us first. It was a good run.
So when will they have an app that can detect micro aggressions and other possible human rights violations?
What is the deal voice inflection these days?
It’s called uptalking. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_rising_terminal
Young women use it a lot; it has the effect of blunting declarative statements and turning them into interrogatives. Whether the speaker intends it or not, it implies uncertainty and insecurity. I saw it 25 years ago in high school, so it’s not new; one of my teachers always responded with “are you asking me or telling me?” which shut it down pretty quickly.
David, with regard to your second point, I feel your pain. Some thing tells me this
characteristic type of speech has some connection with modern day Feminism. I tend to tune out those who speak in this manner.
In a study done by Gopher et al.,we have labelled this phenomena as “Progressive Pitch”.
And by the way, I really like what the presenter has done with her hair.

Good article BBC: “The secret “anti- languages” you’re not supposed to know.”
From London to Timbuktu, there is a teeming underworld of rebellious “anti-societies” who speak a mercurial, ever-changing code. Their words are, quite literally, gobbledygook designed to confuse authority.
http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20160211-the-secret-anti-languages-youre-not-supposed-to-know
For the proggys, its their usual strategy.
Appear to be sympathetic, listening to every last sob story, and repeating it. (Never question it though, and of course NEVER assume the native has ANY personal responsibility whatsoever)
The other reason progs clamp on to this issue? its similar to this, “BUT THE CHILDREN!” It shuts down discussion.
Thing is, all these positions are based upon Liberals, deep down, seeing natives as less than equal, unintelligent, so those ‘brave’ progs have to rush in and help/save the natives, on their terms.
The natives will never progress as a culture or society, or as individuals, until they stop blaming everybody else (whitey, gubermint, schools, immigrants, etc) and accept that they, and they alone are responsible for their own well being, education, and jobs.
Racism exists in THEIR heads, far, far more than in the real world. Its a Reserve culture
The video reminds me of how some people claim talking to plants make them grow better…only, a step down.

As we knew they would, the Liberals have formally declared that firearms classification will continue in the hands of the RCMP. Anyone who owns anything semi-auto had best sell or bury ’em.
When will we ever figure this out, in Iraq/Syria et al, every single leader of any group of any kind is a complete a**hole, not to be trusted, whose oil we don’t friggin need. So sell your oil to China so they can trade with us. As for your blame game – us, Shia/Sunni, Iran/SA, whatever: over to you, go for it with three provisos: if we feel like bringing in aid we will, without asking, and if you get in the way or try to steal it, your ass is grass; you allow any threat to develop we will come in and take it out pronto; finally, we just told Israel they can do whatever they want regarding Iran nukes, in fact go ahead and deter the whole region, including Russia and China. Feel free in fact. Yes, you’re a**holes too, but at least some of your stiff-neckedness is because of your history and present neighbourhood, plus I don’t notice you attacking us.
We have no Arab/Persian/Kurd allies in the ME. They’re all scheming p***ks who are interfering in our domestic debate about pipelines. Let Europe appease them, we can deter them, period. Enough of their BS. Let the immigration chips fall where they may, if you have value to add and want to help ensure our peaceful society then come on in, we have a lot of retirees that need replacing. If you don’t approve of our lifestyle, or have political objections to capitalism, then stay in your present self-made s**t-hole, or gated communities or whatever.
I’m sorry for the innocent victims, as below, but we can’t save everybody and just end up painting a target on ourselves. Leave them to their own devices, in their own culture, in respect, nothing more, nothing less. But don’t insultingly contrive some excuse to hate or attack us by blaming us for your misery. Get a grip on your corrupt political cultures.

@Daniel Ream & Gopher: Thanks for the information and the link to Wiki. I learn something new every single day! I had not realized that it was so widespread.
And Gopher, has your study (“Progressive Speech Patterns”, Gopher, et al) been “peer reviewed”? By that I mean here on SDA (said with a smile).
I guess now that the police are making the laws we are officially living in a police state.
I suspect that if someone took this to court we would find that this is not allowed in Canada.

“Another Ontario green energy blow-up”
“Another Ontario green energy blow-up could have taxpayers fronting $475 million bill”
“Windstream Energy alleges the government of Ontario was discriminatory when it deferred offshore wind development. The green energy company alleges important emails were deleted”
“Debris from the exploding Ontario Liberal green energy rocket continues to land on the hapless citizens of the province. Gas plant scandals, soaring power rates, declining electricity output, massive subsidies to money-losing wind and solar, non-stop bafflegab from government ministers: when will it stop? Not now, and maybe never.
Details of the latest meteorite-sized chunk of the Dalton McGuinty/Kathleen Wynne green power blow-up are on display at the blog of energy consultant Tom Adams, who formerly served on the Ontario Independent Electricity Market Operator board of directors and the Ontario Centre for Excellence for Energy board of management
Adams picks up a story that made brief headlines in late 2012 when Windstream Energy, a U.S. company, filed a NAFTA complaint claiming $475 million in damages.”

One for the good guys column for a change.
This was well known at the time, but our unethical and dishonest mediocracy, in on of their many partisan sins by omission, left this part out. Somebody needs to be a major expose of these anti-Canadian twits.
“Men charged in death of Alan Kurdi say boy’s father Abdullah Kurdi is to blame. Two Syrian nationals facing charges say Abdullah Kurdi was the mastermind of the ill-fated voyage.”

Oh, and this gem:
“Omar Khadr, the convicted Al Qaida war criminal who is out on bail pending a long-shot appeal, is communicating with other Al Qaida activists he met while detained in Guantanamo Bay. It shows Omar Khadr, on an iPhone, doing a video call with another former Guantanamo Bay Al Qaida supporter, now living in the UK, named Moazzam Begg.”
Like Khadr, Begg freely admits that he supports the jihad, that he personally attended two different terrorist training camps in Afghanistan, and that bought weapons for the jihad. And like Khadr, he’s been released. Begg is now a leading pro-jihad activist in the UK. In the photo, you can see the subject matter of their discussion: Guatanamo Bay. Here’s the caption on the photo: “Did you guys see this, Zaynab Khadr, Maham Eslamnah, Maryma Khadr? Omar joined Moazzam on FT for Gitmo 14 year anniversary.”
Zainab Khadr is Omar’s pro-terrorist sister. Maha is his pro-terrorist mother. “FT” presumably refers to “facetime,” the videophone feature on an iPhone. This call surely violates Omar Khadr’s bail conditions. Or does it?”
Of course not. We can count on further no-coverage sins of omission from our incompetent Islamist sycophantic mediocracy.
http://www.therebel.media/omar_khadr_on_video_call_al_qaida_gitmo
How the Liberals took a $1b surplus, and in less than three months, turning that into a $3b deficit, ensuring the money leaves the country as well. Think of what they could accomplish in twelve months. A $20b deficit is easy to understand within this context, quite possibly understated.
“Libs outspent Tories in first 100 days.”
In fact, of the $5.3 billion in spending commitments announced by the Trudeau government in its first 100 days, just $997 million was for projects inside the country. The rest — $4.3 billion — will be spent outside Canada on everything from aid for refugees to helping poor countries fight climate change.”
For some of the cheque handouts for projects inside the country, the Trudeau government dipped into an envelope of money created in the last Harper budget called the Canada 150 Community Infrastracture Program. This $150-million program was designed to help community groups “rehabilitate, renovate and expand existing public infrastructure for community use” in time for the country’s 150th birthday in 2017.”
Who could have known throwing taxpayers’ money away could go so wrong? Nice hair and ignorance can be so darned inconvenient sometimes. Oh cabin boy, oh cabin boy where are you, we need more handouts.

ya. I wonder how many -25 C days they have a year in Syria.
I actually love those really really brisk cold to the bone days. cold air in the lungs. cold air on the face, icicles on my mustache.
