A Shooting in La Loche High School

Some shaky details here.
Update: More details via Saskatoon Star Phoenix.

Update 2 (Kate): RCMP have announced 4 dead, undisclosed number of injured. I’ve more information on the nature of the shooting — that siblings were among the victims, along with another victim’s identity (in addition to the one already released), but am withholding, for reasons that should be self-evident from the “just not ready” tweet above.
Update 3: I now have all(?) the names of those killed. They (may) include three siblings, along with Marie Janvier, who’s name has been released. Surfing through the Facebook pages of “friends and family” in Laloche is an adventure in gang culture.
Case in point.

  1. This is horrible. If only the NRA would get out of the way of President Obama’s efforts to enact sensible gun controls like they have in Canada. ….oh… but wait…..isn’t Saskatchewan in Canada?

  2. Why do you think he did the press conference, ldd?
What was that saying, oh yeah, “Never let a tragedy go to waste.”

  3. For God’s sakes, these comments..you’re all no better than the f***ing liberals you hate so much. Rockwood is the only guest that hasn’t put a political slant on this tragedy yet. EVERYTHING IS NOT POLITICS you small minded pigs. Do us all a favour – join the other side because you’re just conservative posers or more likely trolls.

  4. Good grief, too bad the shooter wasn’t gunned down American style. Now we will have to endure a healing circle for him.

  5. Not one good guy with a gun!! Not one!! this is insanity this could have been my kids school.

  6. “Renewed long gun registry, here we come!”
They’ll just take them this time. The compliance rate was so low on the “old” LGR that they won’t do that again.
    “EVERYTHING IS NOT POLITICS”
Actually, in “progressive” Canada, everything is. Oink, oink.

  7. I find it very strange that all of our news sources lead with this: “Five people are dead and two are in critical condition after a school shooting in northern Saskatchewan, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Friday.”
Since when is the Prime Minister the go-to person for breaking news? Usually this kind of news is delivered by someone at the source, RCMP, etc.

  8. Then I guess the MSM shouldn’t have used Justin to announce this but gone on scene with the cops and community handling it instead. Oh, and thanks for your concern.

  9. the “news item” delivered as a political pat on the back for Just-IN,
Now eff off you lefty troll

  10. It happened in a Lieberal constituency. I’ll draw conclusions accordingly.
I’m going to guess there was a big screen TV involved.

  11. So what about canadas strict gun laws will Obama and bloomberg blame the 2nd amendment

  12. Sounds like a kid on some kind of drug. And what’s turdeau doing? Is he now a newscaster as well as a drama teacher?

  13. Ever spent any time IN La Loche, sport? It’s Indian territory, at the edge of no where. A couple of white men (at least one RCMP, I got stopped for a missing license plate once, I dunno, the road ate it at a pothole) & a nurse & a teacher. They lock up the Lysol & equivalent at the grocery store. The kids still sniff gazoline ’cause it’s cheaper than the usual recreational drugs, that you are accustomed to. I’m actually surprised there are any children in the school, at any time of the day for this to even happen.
And yeah, I’ve been most everywhere in this country that you haven’t been to. It’s a gift.

  14. I’ve been to La Loche and was raised and have family in communities like La Loche. While this looks bad, you must compare this number to the number of teen suicides to get a true idea of the devastation and lives ruined and then see that this shooting pales in comparison. Now they will take away the guns using this as an excuse while thousands more children addle their brains or do away with themselves with zero action from politicians other than more misguided wasted money, more stupid “healing”, empty apologies and empty promises and other ongoing silliness. The sooner the stupid reserves along with the feudal control exerted by powerful federally funded political gangsters are disbanded and eliminated the better.
And prime minister dandiprat can butt out. He made it political first so we can be political too Mr X.
Oh and NO MORE TRANSFER PAYMENTS to Ottawa either.

  15. prime minister dandiprat can butt out
Heh. My wife and I were having a discussion last night about the various things Trulander’s been called on the ‘Net so far, but my favourite is one we sorta came up with ourselves: the Dandiprat Witling.
It just suits The Hair That Walks Like A Man so perfectly!

  16. Turdeau made it political!
He will use this a pretense to go after legal gun owners that have nothing to do with this.

  17. Very sad but I’m sorry, La Loche is far worse than your typical disfunctional community. There were 2 murders there in 2010, one in broad daylight on the main street.
Health care workers and teachers have refused to work there in the past and this won’t help.
Is our media completely off its nut. PM Selfie now reports the news?

  18. community It’s like a parrot that only knows one word community was community community squawking while that story was community being dictated community.

  19. The way this situation is being covered in the media is bizarre. The majority of news sources are more focused on Trudeau’s thoughts and reaction than detailing the actual shooting!

  20. Well the test will be how long the Leibral spin doctors keep the story going in the media to serve their gun grab agenda. If this story drops off the radar as quickly as another reserve homicide back in October last year:
    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/lillooet-bridge-river-band-attack-1.3272076
-or like the Mohammeds shooting up a Calgary bar story two weekends ago, then I’d say we are just witnessing a normal news cycle rather than an agenda.
And yes, that is a cynical view, but I agree with Metis Girl. Hammer, gun, knife, gasoline – access to those aren’t the issues. It ain’t going to improve until the Canadian native apartheid system is dismantled and that is not going to happen if these liberal fascists (or the National Socialist Party under Tommy the commmie) are running the Federal government.

  21. The United States had an Indian Vice President once, the highest elected office ever achieved by a Native American, His name was “Indian Charley” – Charles Curtis. He was Herbert Hoover’s Vice President in the 1920’s. He thought that Indian Reservations would destroy the Indians and he hated them his whole life and spoke out against them.
    He was right.

  22. This from Reuters:
“In 2014, a teacher expressed concern about violence at the La Loche school, citing an incident where a student who had tried to stab her was put back in her classroom after serving his sentence, and another attacked her at her home”

  23. I hear you my friend. I hear you. Sad and tragic tale but history is peppered with sad and tragic tales of cultures that self destruct because can’t keep up with the post-caveman age.
If you had had a victorious islam in Europe back in the crusade days, they’d be either in a zoo on on a menu today. I hope the aliens can do something with them.

  24. Details have been slow to leak out, and most Canadians did not get word of a death toll until announced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at a press conference in Davos, Switzerland.
Trudeau said that five people were killed but later at a news conference, an RCMP official said the death toll was actually four.
“Obviously this is every parent’s worst nightmare,” said Trudeau after a briefing by the RCMP commissioner.
    WTF
Trudeau who is in Switzerland, announces the news event after a briefing by the RCMP commissioner. The head of the RCMP gave the news item to Trudeau to announce even though Trudeau is out of the country and the details of the tragedy were not yet clear.

  25. The tragedy shows the apartheid system is working well.
    Ghetto’s breed dispair.
The reserves and welfare communities are our national shame.
What the hell is the PM doing “breaking News” for?
CBC is working hard to confirm the airhead they sold the voters, is a real empty vessel.
Seems the “narrative ” has already gone sideways on our media, “School Shooting” “School Shooting”.
Except the real story already looks vastly different.
As Modern Metis Girl says nothing will be even said about the wasteland these people live in, just used as a reason to steal long guns from the citizens.
Our Liberals love the Indian Industry, it is very lucrative for them, “Helping the poor natives”.
    Remember Bob Rae??
Their help sure looks like genocide to this white man.

  26. You are a twit. Nothing to do with Americans or the 2nd amendment dope. This is a Canadian issue. Provide actual meaningful content or STFU.
    bverwey

  27. Not a good time to be drawing conclusions, or passing judgement onto others. Details are still foggy! My deepest sympathies to those who are suffering loss or injury from this incident.
A sad day for this province. God bless the deceased.

  28. Who really gives rats ass. Indians/Metis killing each other, again. An entire town of drunks and drug addicts. Let’s see how long this poor little boys criminal record is. Tonight the whisky flows in Laloche.

  29. Condolences to all the families of the victims. Violence is bred of desperation on many isolated reserves. Time to take some meaningful steps to end the existing systems which merely perpetuate the violence wether it be directed inward in the form of suicide or outward in incidents such as this.

  30. This is a sad event. I just wish the media would do their normal reporting, instead of sticking Justin in the middle of this event. His role should be listed key — just offering condolences which could easily be done with a statement. I also think the issue is not guns, but rather the disfunctionality on reserves. That, if anything, should be the government focus. Do they have solutions or any ideas on how to move forward?

  31. The media are completely obsessed with pony boy. Every damn night on the news there’s a good portion devoted to the boy king who was born on christmas day. When their boy loses watch out.

  32. Who gives a rats ass. So who is to blame. The government, whitey, the taxpayer, Indian leadership, Molson, Weisers, Indian posse, or maybe the killer. Let’s see how one this little shits criminal record is. That will tell me everything. You have a reason to drink in Laloche tonight.

  33. Who cares. The Mayor of Laloche knows what kind of a lawless shit hole he is running. The RCMP know all about the gangs, drugs and the incompetent parents. The taxpayers shovel millions of dollars into that community so people of the land can shop at the local store. And all we hear in the south is how poor these people are. Not so poor as to drug and booze all the time.
