Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Since Tom Harris hated Harper’s Climate policies I’m sure he’ll love Justin’s climate agenda when he signs on to anything put in front of him in Paris and brings in a carbon tax. Where was Tom Harris when Harper was constantly being slagged for his alleged anti-science stance and for allegedly muzzling scientists.
Tom Harris is why conservatives always lose in Ontario. The left is screaming that it’s not enough and the leader takes a beat down from someone on the right complaining it’s not enough the other way.
What Harper did or didn’t do makes absolutely no difference. Trudeau Junior will do whatever he pleases at the convention in Paris and no precedent set by a legion of Prime Ministers before him will change his convictions or his actions.
Incidentally, carefully read over the comment of Nancy Creighton. How many hours/days/years of explanation do you think it would take to convince her how vile & disgusting it is for her to compare people who have questions about Climategate with those who have denied the Holocaust of 6+ Million human beings?! Assuming you could ever convince her, do you think you could ever get a sincere apology?
Getting rid of the CBC would have been a great move for Mr. Harper. That in turn would have obliterated Suzuki and his cult that stick to him like shit on a Hudson Bay blanket. And that may have also gotten Mr. Harper re-elected. All in the past now.
If Harris says it right, and I respect Harris’s opinions, then Harper is not much better than the turncoat Manning.
Lets just all pile on the guy. Actually I’ve noticed some papers are b switching to the what a gracious loser stories. They love a great conservative concession speech.
Had the Harper government on the anti-scientific, global warming hysteria forced an open debate on the issue, discrediting it scientifically and thus politically,
it would have:
1.Saved Canadians billions of dollars being confiscated via versions of a carbon tax.
2. Protected Hundreds of thousands of energy industry jobs, combined direct and indirect and spinoffs.
3. It would have avoided long term capital flight which is now beginning to occur in Alberta and in related industries across Canada. That will lower economic growth for decades.
4. I’m so friggin’ tired of global warming hysteria…
“Conservative” politicians of all stripes when in office have never shown much eagerness
for nasty battles where they would be on one side of an issue protecting the taxpayers and
the country’s most powerful rent seekers would be backing the opposition leftist crooks
seeking to shear the sheep. The fact that lots of the sheep don’t have any realistic grasp
of how silly scams like Globull Warming would steal even more of their money in the future
is not a big help either.
“Where was Tom Harris when Harper was constantly being slagged for his alleged anti-science stance and for allegedly muzzling scientists.”
Tom Harris was here all the time. He was pretty well all by himself fighting a lonely battle.
Harris is absolutely right. You can make all the excuses you like, but Harper failed us on this front, and on the property rights issue.
harper had 1200, yes that’s correct, 1200 heritage ministers. try, or would cry be better, again!
I would still have voted for Harper, but I wasn’t in country to do so.
I have been saying this for years, even criticized by some SDA posters saying that I was wrong. When he signed the promise to end oil use in Canada in a hundred years from now was the final proof. Though they gave little support of this new religion, it is nothing compared to what Just-in will do to us later this month. Be prepared for “carbon tax” and “cap and trade” and the poor who cannot afford low emission cars [like BC had done.] I support no pollution bills, yet not anything to do with carbon emissions [which is plant food.] The oil industry in Canada has greatly reduced carbon output and should be praised for that – many foreign countries can learn from Canadian oil companies for this.
The LIEberals cannot complain though. After signing the Accord, the LIEberals did NOTHING on the file[the carbon output was higher than when it was signed] and all global warming/climate change policies were put in place by the Conservative Government of Canada.
I just read the following article … nothing like a bold statement from a world leader:
http://wattsupwiththat.com/2015/10/30/russian-president-climate-change-is-fraud/
According to Lord Monkton, the upcoming Paris climate contract will have a clause removed that was in the previous Copenhagen and Kyoto accords in which stipulated that a Nation could pull out of the agreement.
According to Monkton, this is the first step to world governance through the UN; once you sign, you are on the hook.
So basically, the Nation’s Sovereignty is at play in December.
Trudeau said he would bring the opposition and the Provinces to the table in Paris. Will the Conservative opposition raise a flag on this?
Will Quebec, for whom sovereignty is so important sign a contract that would make it even more difficult for it to be independent down the road?
Someone wake up Duceppe!
The biggest challenge of the 21st Century will be to stay sane in an increasingly insane World.
We need a major power outage that lasts a month in the dead of winter in North America due to a cascading effect because of a weakened by renewables power supply.
To me, it now seems the only way out of this madness.
“But, somewhere along the road to power, everything changed.”
How friggin’ naive is this author?
It is simply a matter of conservatives cherishing their spot at the trough as much as any lib/dipper. Don’t rock the boat, baby.
The only place I thought Harper acted like a true conservative was on the international stage. IMO, he ran like a scared little girl from the msm domestically, instead of consistently defending and promoting conservatism in this country. He ran a lib-lite government, completely ignoring themes like smaller government and paying down our national debt.
I believe a true conservative majority PM would have defied the left’s screams for spending and balanced the budget years earlier. “Managing” to “finally” balance it right before a long election campaign was opportunistic at the very least and many voters saw right through it. But, maybe worst of all, announcing money in the coffers before the election allowed the opposition to offer grossly generous handouts with no real demand for accountability.
As per the GW front, Harper was able to escape with as little damage done to Canada as possible during his term(it is amazing to me that the ugly “denier card” was rarely played against the CPC). The real irony, as someone mentioned earlier, is that previous lib governments took NO action on the file either, despite all the righteous bleating from their supporters.
Anyways, once again a Trudeau prepares to royally f*ck over the west. Or, do you really think he would be so enthusiastic to take action if Quebec’s hydro industry were the ones accused of causing global warming?
“Mathematicians, Legendary Physicist, IPCC Expert Throw Wrenches Into UN Climate Summit”
http://www.thenewamerican.com/tech/environment/item/21853-mathematic-consultancy-legendary-physicist-ipcc-expert-throw-wrenches-into-un-climate-summit
“As UN’s Paris summit approaches, one of France’s top mathematics consultancies, a legendary physicist, and a former IPCC author have joined France’s best-known TV weatherman, Philippe Verdier, in delivering black eyes and severe body blows to the increasingly discredited global-warming alarm lobby. As host of the United Nations climate summit this December, the French government is pulling out all stops to make it a “success,” striving mightily to create the impression of unquestionable “consensus” on global warming — even if it means resorting to suppression of scientific dissent and freedom of expression.”
“We must have a consensus,” French President Francois Hollande declared…”
… an easy to read 2 page article.
When the nomination for Sherwood Park/Ft. Saskatchewan was being contested for the new riding I asked all three candidates their thoughts on Agenda21. Not one of them had a clue. Now there were other issues that finally helped in my choice but all governments are in the bag with this hoax. Next time i’m near the book store a copy of Aaron Clary’s book “enjoy the Decline is coming home with me.
It is easy to criticize Mr. Harper for not being Conservative enough but look at the loss in this last election. Can you imagine if he had tried to move further right? I did a lot of door knocking in this election and you would not believe how many seemingly functional individuals drank the Kool-Aid. I heard it with my own ears.
It is actually amazing that Mr. Harper hung on as long as he did. The sad part is that the Conservatives left the country in such good shape that it will take a while for the libs to break the bank. Although a collapse in Alberta started by the left leaning PCs will be finished by the Shiny Pony.
The MSM have been waging a war against the Conservatives since they took power. The incessant drum beat finally had the desired effect with the help of the Obama Team and Globalist money from the likes of George Soros.
What we Conservatives must understand is that conservatism has become a dirty word thanks to 50 years of brainwashing starting in kindergarten . The fact that the longer socialists have been in control in any given country is almost directly proportional to how dysfunctional their economies become is totally irrelevant to the MSM . Just look at Canada . The provinces with the most Liberal progressive governments are in the most trouble. It makes no sense to bring that type of government to the entire country. But common sense has been totally beaten out of the younger generations.
The election of Trudeau in combination of the NDP election in Alberta will speed up the demise of the Canadian Economy. B.C. and Saskatchewan can only provide so much confiscated wealth for the socialist hoards to fight over .
We can only hope that the impact of these promised policies will be hard and fast. The bewildered herd is easily fooled . You hope they will wake up when they are faced with food and energy poverty that will follow the Trudeau Utopia policies. What might help is that there are many indications that we are headed for a cooling cycle . High energy prices will further impact the disappearing middle class.
Just think we can all contribute to the well being of those 25,000 Syrians who have never experienced below 0 weather. We can waste countless billions of confiscated money to make them happy.
I am sure most individuals who follow Kate’s blog did not vote for this slow motion disaster that is about to come to a theater near you.
All we can do is not give up hope. Support your local Conservative association and try and regroup.
After the CRU emails became public knowledge, I refused to donate to the CPC until an honest inquiry was held into this Government orchestrated mass hysteria.
Told them so in writing.
Their telemarketer fundraisers would hang up on me, finally they stopped calling.
But they still send begging letters.
Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming is not about corruption of science.
It is about the corruption of our government institutions.
The whole scheme to stampede the herd, for purposes of power and control are openly admitted by the United Nations, past Liberal cabinet ministers, whackjobs like Dr Fruitfly.
Central power, by faceless bureaucrats is the solution.
To every problem.
The open contempt and hatred for the individual is the common denominator.
But this idiotic waste of time and public treasure, has been enthusiastically fabricated, promoted and protected from investigation, by our bureaucrats.
The blatant abuse of proper procedure, evidence based policy making and public consultation have all ramped up under this cult like hysteria.
What we are now treated to are, policy based evidence manufacturing, open theft of public funds and weird theatre in pretence of consulting us.Preordained decisions pushed through regardless of voter feedback.
Our governing kleptocrats do not fear us.
Harper ran into a wall, our bureaucrats have no interest in serving anything but their own interests. All Harper could have done is fire them all but that would have had him fighting an impossible battle on too many fronts.
His loss highlights what many North Americans have been saying for years, our government is lost to us, beyond reform or recovery.
The parasite is too big.
The internal self interest is to entrenched.
No parasite voluntarily reduces its self.
I am afraid it is up to the host to deal with this systemic theft and destruction of resources.
Government will never limit itself.
The Captain is right; Enjoy the decline.
The Useless Nations wants to get up their own kangaroo Court to try so called Climate Crinimals Yeah anyone who violates the nuermous unconstitutional treaties signed by the political hacks and tratiors to america the Un and Obama cabenets full of them
On point Rita. In fact many ideological conservatives jumped on the HDS bandwagon, this Harris fool an obvious member. Oh right Harper wasn’t conservative enough, so their ideologues helped oust him in favour of a statist regime bent on using climate change as a revenue source. Harris should wake up, no rational person believes CAGW, except as an ideological crutch and excuse for rent seekers and further taxation. The CPC must redefine itself, in accurate terms, from the ground up, as the Reformers tried, without the social conservative excesses of our wacky rightists, and communicate that directly to the public, not via the MSM, who will certainly re-define it for their own U & L Canada means.
Politics is infested with people who want to be in front of the herd. It is a poor substitute for leadership but most would simply accelerate the decline if in an actual leadership position. The dominant progressive culture has internalized the CAGW hysteria as a key justification for control and coercion. Conservative progressives are not immune. Radical conservatives and or libertarians are unfortunately unelectable in such a degraded culture. Gordon Campbell used to be above it but eventually succumbed as did Manning and apparently Harper. These folks get phone calls from foreign heads of state and monarchs, urging them to get on board with the progressive narratives. Already corrupt from being in power and having a near pathological desire to stay in power, it isn’t much of a stretch to try to please and join the green theocracies.
“…the upcoming Paris climate contract will have a clause removed that was in the previous Copenhagen and Kyoto accords in which stipulated that a Nation could pull out of the agreement.
According to Monkton, this is the first step to world governance through the UN; once you sign, you are on the hook…”
Nonsense.
Any sovereign nation can pull out of any international agreement at any time.
That’s Right, Honorable Me @ 8:57 AM – ” the upcoming Paris climate contract will have a clause removed that was in the previous Copenhagen and Kyoto accords in which stipulated that a Nation could pull out of the agreement.
According to Monkton, this is the first step to world governance through the UN; once you sign, you are on the hook.?
NOTHING is written in stone – ‘specially these flake touchy-feely treaties – the signatories will change their mind when a angry mob of Canadians who have to shiver through a winter because these turds put the price of heat out of reach, have them dangling over a boiling vat of tar.
Most Canadians are easily suckered by the U.N.’s propaganda, even while U.N. officials have been more open about its actual plan.
The aim was to slowly transform the economic systems of the world, away from capitalism. One way to do it was by mixing up the demographics of countries, thus destroying their cultures. They’ve already dumbed down the masses. The U.N. with its in-house despots seeks to erase borders and negate the sovereignty of nation states.
Ceding sovereignty to U.N. bureaucracy –
“Whatever they call it, countries who sign onto this agreement will be voting to expand the reach of the U.N. climate bureaucracy, cede national sovereignty, and create a one-way street along which billions will be redistributed from developed to poor nations,” Rucker says. “Developed nations would be expected to slash their emissions while the ‘poor’ countries expand theirs. China, which holds a trillion dollars in U.S. debt, would be counted among the poor.”
He said China and India are “delighted,” with the prospect.
“They would like nothing better than a world where the West cedes the competitive advantages their free market economies created,” Rucker writes. “They hope for a future where Asia does the manufacturing and the U.S. and Europe do the importing – until their wealth runs out, anyway.”

tewchip, how can people represent their constituencies honestly, if they lack intellectual curiosity? It’s crucial for the times in which we live. Being a skeptic is a GOOD thing. The U.N. has been taking us over by stealth for decades, and their people are now sitting on regional district and NGO committees and boards as we speak. They recruited under-forty, *elected* ideologues in communities.
Harper left the vast “progressive” regime untouched and ready and waiting for the first liberal to come along and continue as if nothing ever happened.
I will never forgive Harper for being two smart by half. He had his majority … and hardly turned the dial one little bit … spending more time on defying the SCOC with hooker laws that won’t stand, than on much else.
He didn’t dismantle much really; and his legacy will be gone in months. The liberal will school us all in how to handle a majority … they’ll shove their win down our throats every single day.
It is not Harper Derangement Syndrome to criticize his actions now.
Nor is it “piling on”, we shut up and voted CPC. They lost, we still do not have property rights, the government bloat continues, so what happens next?
Is there any point pouring effort into helping politicians regain power, when they accomplish so little?
I had believed that an basic inquiry into the quality of the evidence being used to impose policy, conducted by an honest government * would be all we need to blow the CAGW scam wide open..(*Where might I find one?)
The bureaucrats play a little game of pass the buck.
When asked where is the science, you keep referring too?
They reply”We defer to the findings of the IPCC”.
When asked “Who accepted the IPCC findings on behalf of Canada?”
No answer.
Policy requires the science be documented as part of the case for these policy decisions.
No level of our bureaucracy can produce any evidence to support their desire to tax energy.
The IPCC has never done so.
Most of these kleptocrats have not read any of the IPCC reports.
Environment Canada needs cleaned right out, a lawless bunch of thugs.
We are being lied to , either through malice or by fools too lazy & stupid to perform their oath sworn duties.
My vote is for the latter.
Committee speak , if you have ever experienced it, goes a long way to explaining the indifference to evidence in our bureaus.
Rather than research, the Greys go with flow, never asking for explanations of things they do not understand; Don’t want to look stupid after all.
Duration of service not due diligence is what the system rewards.
CAGW/CC is an intelligence test. Right next to “Everybody Knows”.
Climatology, or the Cult of Calamitous Climate= Good enough for government.
