Also, by volume, ethanol has only 66% the energy of gasoline. When you buy gasoline with 10% ethanol at $1 per liter, say, you are only getting the equivalent of 96.6 cents of gasoline. You are paying a 3 cent per liter tax.
That kind of talk will be labelled a characteristic of a certifiable abnormal psychological disorder.(psychologists are after all Leftists)

Proponents of biomass-for-fuel insist that vastly more quantities of food can be grown on existing acreage, leaving lots left over for biomass crops. I’m guessing they’re not talking organic farming, because that is notably inefficient – up to 77% more land required for organic corn production.
As for ethanol, Robert of Ottawa is quite correct. I boycott any station pumping ethanol. (Husky)

However he is wrong about solar energy. If I want to heat my house, and I don’t have natural gas, it is far less expensive (by a huge amount) to use wood than to even consider heating with electricity via solar cells.

Wood that is not burnt will eventually decompose. Corn that is not made into ethanol will be eaten.
The CO2 output in each case is the same.
Fossil fuels that are not used will release zero CO2.

Bio Fuels is a BAD JOKE. The ROEI is something in the order of 1 : 1.3 meaning you get 1.3 barrels of fuel from 1 barrel of fuel invested to make your biofuel. At the same time you are seriously reducing the food supply. among many other things…NOT good for the environment.
