Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Beat me to it Kate.
While Canada remains “a strong member of the coalition against ISIL,” Trudeau said he made clear to the US leader “the commitments I have made around ending the combat mission.”
Does the amateur drama teacher not think words have meanings? How can you remain a “strong member” when you run away?
The question of difficulty probably revolves around how to screw TFSA holders without hitting prominent Liberals, such as Trudeau. You know, rather like that Liberal finance minister who had a shipping line.
Less than 24 hours and the slaughter has started already.
#JustWatchMeRun
On TFSA’s I believe, suspect or maybe just hope that the plan is to leave this year alone but roll back to $5500 starting with 2016.
Unfortunately this will hurt the Young, Elderly and Self-Employed the most. See my post on Dave’s Insights: TSFA’s Benefit the Young, Elderly and Self-Employed the Most. Here is a direct link.

I don’t suppose that JT is listening though, too busy being a rock star.
If someone is so inclined, they should file a charter challenge against any new legislation for removing first past the post. It is a fundamental change that should require all provinces ascent. Just sayin!
And there’s already the precedent at the provincial level of having a referendum to decide any electoral “reforms”.
Agreed. And jt would have to rule over a minority.
And here’s an interesting tweet today from VAC:

We’re still at war, and they haven’t been forgotten. The terrorists are probably celebrating right now.
Robert
He’s attacking ISIS with parka bombings and touque attacks!
Mick Jagger’s kid as PM?
Trudeau seems to think he has the power to do whatever he wants. I’d assume he needs to get approval to change how we elect our governments.
Help for the middle class, Shiney?
I have talked to 3 families today all of whom are under 40.
None of them are rich by any means but have been able to sacrifice in order to utilize TSFAs.
Each one of them are very concerned about the reduction of this financial vehicle.
They told me that they know people who are going to be surprised when they find out that they bought the lie and actually brought about their own retirement demise.
Every move “forward” that the LIEberals try to “transform” this country, must be met either by court challenge, all the way up the ladder, or direct to Charter challenge.
The shoe is on the other foot now, fight fire with fire. There has to be a wealthy rightwing sugardaddy or Heritage foundation type, quite willing to poke their fingers in the eyes of Trudozo, with every step he takes.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he simply thinks this will be the last election seeing as how he envy’s communist China and all.
It’s not just that B.C. and Ontario have had referendums on electoral reform (Ontario’s only and B.C.’s second referendum being soundly defeated by large margins).
It’s also that Britain, the mother of the Westminster system, had a referendum too. Try saying that the Brits are allowed a vote but we’re too dumb to be allowed our say.
Also, I think that the SCC ruling on Senate reform (specifically, on electing them instead of appointing them) will also come back to bite the new government in the rear end. If you need to go to the provinces for Senate appointment reform, then you’ll definitely need to do the same for Commons election reform.
What is the matter with you people?
It is the New Liberal Government.
Rules?
Those only apply to conservatives.
A system of proportional representation retain the Laurentian elite in power for ever.
Until finally the West slips their noose and makes a run for it, a la Apocalypto.
My son showed me a cute sign a guy was holding and had posted to facebook.
‘I’d rather be a conservative nut job than a liberal with no nuts and no job’
Brave Sir Justin ran away.
The chicoms were out of the gate early last night congratulating jr. They made mention of the fact that Canada was one of the first nations to recognized the commies under mao – while the old man was prime minister. This is going to be interesting.
I can’t wait for parliament to sit. Jr was a poor performer in question period and my bet is that they will do everything they can to keep him from having to answer questions directly. My guess is Goodale will be deputy PM and will field most questions. Mulcair who is very capable is going to launch withering attacks on jr. hahaha bring it!
Vlad has the ISIS situation under control, the kids can go home and play with their dolls.
Mulcair, by not resigning, has set himself up for a Night Of The Long Knives, something the NDP are consistent about, betraying their leaders with a blind attack.
Going from 100+ seats to sub 40, makes hime the nights Biggest Loser.
It has been a day of utter bullshit. From the G&M.
“There will be a honeymoon, but it will be short-lived. Whereas Pierre Trudeau governed Canada in a period when the media was liberally inclined, his son faces the opposite. Two-thirds of the country may be progressive, but at least two-thirds of the media are not, as evidenced by the vast majority of newspapers which endorsed a Harper re-election.”

How do you reason with these people?
Instead of jets, will Justin send parkas instead? Are they as effective as guns in stopping Yazidi and Iraqi Christian girls and women from getting raped? Do they safe-guard cultural treasures?
Justin Trudeau is a worthless piece of sh–.
With-in months, young Canadians will be able wear their backpacks emblazoned with the Canadian flag pride through every Muslin country with pride, but not too much ‘pride’, if you know what I mean.
The rest of the world, not so much.
We are screwed. We turn our back on our allies and reach out to those who believe that a theocracy is better than democracy.
October 19th,2015.
A day that will live in infamy.
This is Canada’s Pearl Harbour and 9/11 bound together, and we did it to ourselves.
To steal and re-apply a phrase, ”Pierre Trudeau: Not dead enough.”
No, it’s more like Ron Wood’s
mhb23re
Great piece by David Warren nicely summarizing yesterday’s election disaster. It helps take away a bit of the pain.
Now, as AC suggested, it’s time to “enjoy the decline”, and savor the next 5 years after the proglodytes have married Ottawa with Canadian Idol.
mhb23re
Agreed.
Mulcair has to take the fall. When Mulcair started talking balanced budgets he opened the door for the liberals to out flank them on the left. The party establishment will not forgive him and may force him out rather quickly. There is really no reason to be hasty about it as the Lib have a strong majority but as you say, ‘The Night of the Long Knives’ is entirely possible.
Mulcair has no history with the ndp. He is an outsider who was not supposed to win the leadership and as such will be cannon fodder. I hope he sticks around long enough to torture jr. though.
Actually, what makes things even more mystifying, in regards to Angry Tom, was, up until the Niqab debate, Tom and his minions had run the best campaign of the three, and was at least even money to come out on top with the seat count. Things were looking very rosy indeed for him.
But in the second debate, he doubled down on his niqab misstep, all he had to do was waffle a little and show some ‘politics’ and he would have survived. And his vociferous opposition to the TPP, along with his posturing of how ‘principled’ they were, and it was game over. Principled to other Canadians, means ‘same old prehistoric NDP’.
The final nail? The last two weeks his “Stop Harper” mantra, in essence, told voters to vote for Justin, as AT was already behind in the polls, that just buried him. You never, directly or indirectly, tell the voters to vote for another party. Inexcusable. I don’t see how AT lasts beyond a month, the Commie hierarchy will have him on a carpet, demanding he go. As you eluded, there’s no loyalty, no longterm service with his fellow travellers.
Good riddance, he is largely responsible for Trudopes majority
If this is the last FPTP election this website better become a separatist site. Because otherwise there’s no hope for conservatives forming government in my lifetime. And I am 27.
Unless one is a niqab wearing, pot smoking communist, there is no reason to be happy Justin is the new prime minister.
Justin might even finally get around to taxing “thingy”… You know… THINGY!
Me, I’m going to donate to those charities who are dedicated to helping the Christians and Yazidis of the Middle East.
Well he didn’t agree with whipping them out anyway. The Americans were obviously impressed with Trudeau’s remarks, given they immediately thanked the Harper administration for their assistance.
Anyway he can’t go into too many details right now; we’ll have to use our own calculators for that. He’s too busy planning his visit to Berlin, I mean Paris for the fossil fuel regret party, and hopefully some speech somewhere, where he could wax rhetorically that generations from now, when the deferred taxation of debt kicks in, we will say now was the time when the rising of prosperity began to slow, and Liberals began to heal, and income levels began to fall, but they all got real good jobs, along with summer employment for their kids.
Then he has to return and get his mentor some Trudeau bucks for Ontario.
DanBC. Mulcair probably ran the best campaign. He made the great mistake of meaning what he said. Harper’s liberal lite 1.3 jobs campaign was a joke. Trudeau just rode the Laurentain elite media train, free of scrutiny, which while a minority in print, completely managed the campaign for their Liberals from all the major networks. Think about it, all the media veterans cut their teeth during the era of Liberal governments with a Mulroney liberal thrown in. Guarantee they all vote Liberal.
I don’t know why Ontario voters are so politically stupid, voting in a totally politicized and thus corrupt government, getting their economy crushed daily (I understand she just jacked up hydro rates again). Now they’ve sentenced the country to Torontocentric metrosexual politics. Even the lumbersexuals don’t vote Liberal in BC.
But if they think they’re going to pull off another NEP grab, they’re sadly mistaken. I know they will try, but they will fail. Alberta will find a way to depose Notley if she tries to play along with Wynne. I have no concerns Christie Clark will have truck or trade with it either (I note her name has already been rumoured for the vacant CPC leadership).
I look forward to the whole bunch of them tripping over their tongues on tanker traffic and pipelines. Brad Wall is right, if no oil flows west east, no money flows west east.
It’s time to end equalization anyway. BC taxpayers shouldn’t be expected to cover the excesses of incompetent entitlement tax, spend & borrow government largesse to Upper & Lower Canada. Let them tax their own province for that garbage.
NDP leaders who lose become non persons. Remember Woodrow Lloyd?
Congrats Canada ! Now YOU can admit YOUR FAIR SHARE of … “Syrian Refugees” … Middle Eastern “Migrants” … “Arabs on Spring Break” … “Free Libyan’s” … and “clock-building” Science Fair Students. Since President Trump will be putting an END to the Muzlimization of America, looks like it will YOUR turn. Hell … all the current residents of Dearborn MI might even “migrate” north !
Everyone forgets that the NDP seats in 2011 were a media fueled abberation, the Jack Layton crush. They have a new boyfriend now.
NDP leaders who lose become non persons. Remember Woodrow Lloyd?
Ain’t that the truth? They’re forced to retire to their dacha near Lake Woebegone.
Speaking of which Harper will now be allowed a voice on the TV as an elder statesman while the most recent leader of the day for the conservatives can be properly portrayed to viewers as a fire breathing dragon.
WRT the first-past-the-post system (otherwise known as the single-member plurality constituency system): only a complete idiot would even attempt a change in it, to wit:
– Dalton McGuinty promised that in 2003, and ended up having an add-on referendum to the 2007 election on this issue (mixed member proportional representation): I voted against, as did at least 100,000 other people, who, like me, didn’t even vote for John Tory, who’s completely useless on a good day;
– While I accept a Liberal government, based on the current system, the fact remains that the Tories polled at least 2.3 million votes in Ontario: hello, Western Canada, we do exist, and are proud of it, actually. Please get over yourselves, if you can; and
– The incoming government got a smaller share of the popular vote than the previous government.
Now, how do I get a message to to the soon-to-be former Prime Minister:
– I am very glad that you have chosen to keep a seat in Parliament (your advice to the incoming leader will be greatly valued);
– What the heck would you do otherwise, anyway? You are set for life, obviously, and you are not a greedy man. Write important books, or something?
As to the leadership, IMOO, it’s going to come down to Michelle Rempel (Mrs. T. Consverative) and Maxime Bernier (Mr. Libertarian). Tony Clement should be the interim leader, considering that he has done the most to clean that SH out.
I meant to mention this in my previous comment:
Why, exactly, would anybody want to de-stabilize the most stable democracy in history, anyway?
Google the vote and the Liberals are shown to have 54% of the seats. No mention of popular vote.
The Conservatives polled only 269,000 less votes this time out, their popular vote dropped to just under 32% and the Liberals won with less than 40% of the popular vote. The collapse of the NDP and an increase in turnout voting Liberal did its dirty.
I can’t imagine Harper staying on as MP for very long. From the PMO to the backbench of the opposition? Probably keeping a very low profile so as to not unduly influence his caucus or draw unwanted attention away from the new party leadership? All the while watching Trudeau dump on everything he accomplished? That just seems like a completely morose & depressing way to end such an accomplished political career. Honestly I think he’d be better off resigning his seat sooner rather than later and departing Ottawa for good.
How is it that Trudeau can claim he represents Canada when the majority of Canadians did not vote for him. Sound familiar?
Harper in 2011 had more popular vote that Trudeau.
The first question in the House would be to ask how he can stand there and say he represents Canada.
That would probably be seen as too mean and he would have to huddle and put himself in a “safe space” to avoid any future micro-aggressions.

“Because otherwise there’s no hope for conservatives forming government in my lifetime. And I am 27.”
The hope is that todays bleeding heart video junkie’s at 18 – 27 get a good taste of reality as debt slaves, and wake up to the fact that the wonderful hair in Ottawa actually HATE’s women.
Yes, JT want’s to penalize stay-at-home moms by eliminating income splitting and the TFSA. He wants to force ALL women into the workforce, and take their children away from them for the better part of each day.
Most +30 year olds start to get this as life wakes them up a little. Yourself excluded as a minority younger conservative in todays Liberal indoctrinated society.
I see that PM Zoolander is off to a magnificent start.
I always thought the air campaign a futile, symbolic, CYA gesture for Obomber, crippled by Obomber. However, Canada running away will also be very symbolic, the world will notice, as will ISIS. They will proclaim victory.
For the very first time, I absolutely agree with you, right down the line.
Your analysis is irrefutably true: Trudeau’s musings on the electoral system and his senate appointment scam are deliberately designed to prevent the possibility of future conservative-minded governments. As was the 1982 Constitution. No question about it.
Sadly, Lord Black (who used to be quite good, really, and who, at last check, is not even a Canadian citizen) has been quite suckered by this stuff.
And, I suppose, they can talk a little more boldly, considering the sentiment for “change” and all that (in spite of which, they managed to receive a lower percentage of the popular vote than Mr. Harper received in 2011, despite the collapse of the NDP; who votes for the latter trash, anyway?).
And you’d be right, of course, that this website would become a different sort of outfit — maybe separatist, or maybe something a little more, you know, “revolutionary” (think, if you can, 1776).
For, if there were no possibility of conservative governance, there would be no Canada.
Say, I was just wondering, how’s that backwards swastika working for ya lately?
I have worked as a volunteer for conservative campaigns back to Reform days. Each election whether provincial or federal the left get stronger. Its pure demographics. 3.6 private sector employees to public now in Ontario with the large cities holding massive amounts of public employees, their families, those dependent on government and those private sector contractors working for governments. I see the same thing happening in Edmonton and Calgary or Collingwood in Ontario as government retirees move to those cities and towns. The whole East Coast provinces are like this.
These people simply do not care about debt, jobs or muslims moving to Canada, their focus is what is in it for me. Ontario PCs tried red torys like John Tory and Ernie Eves, centre torys like Hudak then he moved farther right. Didn’t matter. What is the saying, “Society can’t be conservative for a few days of an election and liberal the rest of the year.” Talk to your kids, the left have been pounding their dogma into them for 40 years and it shows.
