Toronto Star, surprise, surprise has endorsed Trudeau. My rant in their posts.
I can not believe the naivity and ignorance in people believing this women wearing her niqab at our ceremony means nothing as it is just a piece of cloth. Think of it, she was not a Canadian citizen but a muslim wearing a political garment reflecting Wahhabi violent islam. Yet this non-citizen overturned the practice of over a 100 years of our citizenship ceremony as equality in Canada and our left cheered her for it. A ceremony where all immigrants stand together for Canada. We have lost a vital piece of our framework to islam. She came to this country as an immigrant yet refused to accept OUR citizenship ceremony because it did not fit into her theocracy so WE had to change OUR ceremony and Trudeau and Mulcair think this is a good thing! She is not a Canadian but separate, different, isolated as muslim enclaves always are.
Imams and muslims must be laughing from Riyadh to Tehran about our soft headed stupidity as islam takes a giant step forward.
I have wondered how could leaders like Merkel, Cameron and the head of the EU sell out their continent to an islamic army of migrants betraying their citizens. Just looking at the left here in Canada doing the same thing is beyond treasonous.
Well said Dave! That should be published in every editorial column in every newspaper across the nation.
Just started watching the CBC National (why do I do that to myself?) and I’ve got steam coming out my orifices.
Not only did Zunera Ishaq “quietly and suddenly” become a Canadian citizen, “Citizenship Canada closed an office in Missisauga this afternoon to accommodate a private swearing in ceremony”.
Now that’s what I call accommodation!
I can only hope that Ms. Ishaq’s determination to have Canada bend to her will will result in Canadians showing their own steely will to maintain our own cultural values on Oct. 19th.
I went to vote at the advance polls today, I live in Cypress Hills-Grasslands. I live in a small town, my family has lived and farmed here for 107 yrs. I get my mail at a PO Box.
I gets to the poll, the lady in charge is my old school teacher. (She’s over 80 yrs old. .) She lives six miles from town. The other lady at the front desk lives one block up from my place. I forgot my voting card in the car, however they said that was really irrelevant, because it’s not an ID that proves place of residence. My drivers and other ID has my PO Box on it. I was totally peed off. I said: ”You’ve both know me for 50 years, what more should I need??” So I had to go home and get my Sask Power bill to prove my home address. (I was told later they could have sworn me in, however I would have needed a person to vouch for me.)
I’ve voted Conservative since Joe Clark was PM, maybe even longer than that. And I have to tell you that I was one half of a second away from placing that X on the Green side, knowing he’ll never get in anyway. My sister got the same treatment, she was so upset she voted Liberal for the first time in her life today. I met two farmers who were so riled up (for having to go home for ID) they walked out of the hall without voting and they said they were not going back.
Conclusion: I believe the Conservatives will lose mega votes with the new voter ID system. . They should have left voting the way it was.

So two votes for Justin just to make a point that you resent the change in the voter ID system?
Now, I’d say that makes a lot of sense, if it did, but it makes none whatsoever and sounds childish, if you don’t mind my saying so.
Canadians who are going to vote Conservative to keep Justin and Mulcair out of the PM’s office so they won’t do any more harm than changing the voter ID system will vote to protect Canada for a far great reason.
I’m dismayed enough that a lot of intelligent people are going to vote for Jr. Turdeau, but to read your comment, made as a former Conservative, has made me realize that intelligent people do not always think or act intelligently.
Vote Conservative, “the clear favourite”.

Sorry, but you and others like you who had a problem with the ID should have read the pamphlet sent along with the voter ID card. All the information about which pieces of ID are required are in that pamphlet. That info can be viewed here:

There is a reason for the new voter I’D. It prevents abuses in the system. We had a challenge and a court case after the last election based on the question of eligibility. What I like about the Conservatives is that they have taken action on things that need fixing. The changes were well advertised. It is a shame some people are taken by surprise.
Hope your right…Nanos consistently reports the Libs over the CP. I hope it’s just another wacked push poll.
Other than Nanos there seems to be a dearth of polls reporting lately – not what u’d expect at this juncture…
Plainzfyre at-1:13
Your experience with hearing frustrated voters combined with exceptionally slow voting was frustrating here as well.
I bet if most people here have had similar experiences there WILL be a huge backlash at the polls. Enough of a backlash that I see the CPC lead evaporating and the Liberals winning.
You are right on the mark I believe but I certainly hope to be proven wrong.
How about folks here reporting their experiences at the advance polls.
On voters’ spiteful irrarionality.
A very intelligent old friend, a retired business man, a self-described libertarian who got quite a stubby over Obama, recently told me that he’s voting NDP …. because of Bill 51.
I said to him: So …. you!re voting socialist to enhance Liberty?!?!

“How about folks here reporting their experiences at the advance polls.”
I was part of a group of five that voted at the advance poll. I did my due diligence prior to the event and made 100% sure that everyone had the proper ID and that everyone was, in fact, registered to vote. Our entire group was in and out in about 5 minutes. The only problem encountered was a broken pencil behind the voting screen. There was a spare handy.
I find it hard to believe that anyone would change their vote or not vote at all simply because of confusion over ID. In the past, voter eligibility was lax. There is nothing wrong with tightening things up a bit especially when it comes to something as important as choosing our next government.
In many parts of the world, voters are harassed, beaten or blown up at polling stations. These people would laugh at our “first world problems” of requiring proper ID.
Why didn’t you just show your drivers license? Or were you driving without a license? You did say that you had to go home and get a utility bill, didn’t you? Don’t understand such churlishness. Expected better from you.
Really, P?
FFS, just bring your voting card, and VOTE!
Its not that hard to bring the card with you, the one that came in the mail a week or two ago, with your name and address on it.
Your reasoning, is pretty much what the HDS crowd uses to justify ABC. Their own mistakes, projected, become Harrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrpurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr’s fault!
I like pretty much what you post on here, but on this, you are WAY OFF BASE
Nanos’ polling is clearly urban in nature, and slanted, as we see with his Liberal tendencies. He has BC all wrong, historically, and presently (according to other polls), the CPC leads in BC. Sorry, but the KEEFiberals are not leading here.
FWIW, I screen all my calls, and don’t answer any numbers or names that I don’t know.
“If its important, they will leave a message.”
I don’t waste my time on polls, but I suspect the HDS crowd just can’t wait to express their misplaced anger, and answer willingly.
As for so called intelligent people voting Liberal, how can anyone take the Dauphin seriously, when he does his E MO TING best yesterday, with his….
“DITHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH GUTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH TINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG” rant.
The ponce is such an immature child, and to be fooling so many Canadians that this is Prime Ministerial behaviour. THAT’S what is DISGUSTING.
So the person named on the Voter ID Card – PERSON’S NAME “Or to the Elector” Which one are you?
The card says you must “prove your identity and address – for a full list of ID, visit Elections Canada”
If someone drove to the polling station, do they not have a driver’s license? Really, how hard can it be?
Note that the Voter ID card is not sufficient ID. It is essentially sent to the person or occupant. Somebody who just moved in uses the card with the old occupants name on it to determine their polling station.
Well said dave.
As for the Toronto Star, they’re preaching to their Leftist choir who are in a zone totally out of tune with reality. No thinking person who has any pride in this country, it’s heritage, it’s cultural roots upon which it was built can agree with the nonsense going on with activist immigrant, her actions will encourage more of the same. Of course the courts will interpret the Trudeau Charter in their favour and Canada will never be the same. That’s Pierre Trudeau’s legacy, Charter of Rights and Freedoms giving the courts power over elected governments.
For more of the same and then some vote for the desperate Trudeau Liberal Cabal . Mulcair made big boo-boo, riling his Quebec supporters over this issue which they feel strongly about.
Re: voting id. I disagree. Your exception does not prove the rule. Most people have a drivers’ license or provincial photo id with their address on it, either of which is fine on its own to vote. It’s too bad someone couldn’t have vouched for you, with an oath by you and two pieces of id, that would have done it. Hint: someone.
Our voting system is fine. The real danger is LIVs.
Anyway, I’m voting for the Marijuana Party. I hear they’re high in the polls. Vote early, vote often.
Just kidding on both points.
http://www.elections.ca/content2.aspx?section=id&document=index&lang=e
I’ve not voted for many years, preferring to register at the polling station and then respectfully declining my ballot. Until NOTA (None Of The Above) is a ballot option I won’t be voting. Anything else is succumbing to the so-called “Stockholm Syndrome” I might be victimized by the a criminal syndicate, but can’t be accused of aiding and/or abetting it.
We had long waits at the advanced polls (up to an hour because Elections Canada only provided on ballot box). Nevertheless, the average time from a person stepping up to the desk to dropping the ballot in the box was under two minutes. That’s for those who were smart enough to have voter ID! Those who had issues (name change, etc.) took three minutes. Plainzfyre – we expected better of you.

The EPA spends millions on military-style weapons:
“The Environmental Protection Agency has spent millions of dollars over the last decade on military-style weapons to arm its 200 ‘special agents’ to fight environmental crime.
Among the weapons purchased are guns, body armor, camouflage equipment, unmanned aircraft, amphibious assault ships, radar and night-vision gear and other military-style weaponry and surveillance activities, according to a new report by the watchdog group Open the Books.
‘Protecting the environment just got real. With millions of dollars spent on military style weaponry, the EPA is now literally ensconced with all institutional force,’ said Adam Andrzejewski, founder of Open the Books and the author of the report.”

Well, if any of the latest polls are anywhere near accurate, we are about to have the first Selfie government in Kanaduh’s history.
LIV’s voting themselves free stuff wins!
Two things come to mind (amongst many others)
How long does Justina and his apparatchiks have, to fulfill every single promise he has made?
He said he would implement every single recommendation in the Indian Report, immediately.
He said he would sign the UN documents to sell out Kanaduh’s sovereignty, immediately.
There’s a lot of immediately’s that he has to live up to, including solving all transit problems, everywhere, at once. Tall order for Le Dauphin.
Will he get the 6 year free pass, like Obozo, until the LIVs and the media figures out there was never any intention of fulfilling flowery promises?
Second question, where to hide your investments, and what kind of financial climate are we facing with a high deficit, high debt, profligate and inept government? Is this the 70s redux? I don’t see it going well at all, if Orville’s Morontariowe is any indication of what we can expect. Its the same backroom gang after all.
The LIVs are in for a rude awakening, when the GST is increased 2 points, at least, carbon taxes are implemented, and other feees go up, to cover Justin’s financial flimflam that is coming.
That’s the Liberal way.
Has the Liberal Party of Canada been Infiltrated by Extremist Candidates?
NOTE: The Muslim Brotherhood, founded in 1928 in Egypt has been listed as a terrorist group in a variety of countries including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The Jamaat-e-Islami has been banned or proscribed in some 25 countries. In January of 2015, the Muslim Brotherhood announced that they would return to a path of violence and that is members should “seek martyrdom.”
In April 2014, Tahir Gora published a paper that suggested that the Muslim Brotherhood and Jamaat-e-Islami would attempt to run multiple candidates in this year’s federal election using the Liberal Party of Canada as its political entry point.[1] This is the well-worn path of “political entryism.”
The question must arise as to whether any candidates in this election represent extremist views brought into Canada by the Muslim Brotherhood, its proxies or its front groups. With some 700(+) dues paying Muslim Brotherhood members in Canada[2], the question is increasingly relevant.
Despite its claims to peaceful change, the Muslim Brotherhood issued a new statement on 28 January 2015 which stated it would return to the path of violence[3]:
“It is in incumbent upon everyone to be aware that we are the process of a new phase, where we summon what is latent in our strength, where we recall the meanings of jihad and prepare ourselves, our wives, our sons, our daughters, and whoever marched on our path to a long, uncompromising jihad, and during this stage we ask for martyrdom.”
According to the article of 2014 written by Mr. Gora:
“The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), the National Council of Canadian-Muslims — formerly the Canadian affiliate of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) — and others are full of members linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, its Jamaat-e-Islami sister group and their ideology.”
Mr. Gora said he had a conversation with a staunch member of the Jamaat-e-Islami. He reports the conversation in the following manner:
“We want Muslims’ representation in our parliament so that our members can watch our interests in the government.” By “Muslims,” he meant Jamaat-e-Islami and Muslim Brotherhood followers.

Voted today in the advance poll in Stratford ON. Observations:
– Arrived in the parking lot of the polling place at about 14:00 Eastern; out of the parking lot by 14:25, including loading and unloading a wheelchair for my mother.
– Elections Canada had a greeter at the main door whose sole job it was to proactively check everybody’s ID against their vote-at cards. So, in our case, there was simply no way that anyone would have had to suffer the inconvenience or indignity of waiting in a line-up only to be turned away because they did not bring proper identification.
– I saw no one turned back at the door, although that could have happened, I suppose, but there certainly were no “scenes” or any level of frustration that I noticed.
– Most everybody appeared to me to have both their vote-at card and their Ontario Driver’s Licence (or Ontario Photo Card).
– There were about 25 to 35 persons in line at each of two polls (two other polls had very little traffic; so, maybe around 60-70 in total; meaning that electors were being processed through the busy polls at the rate of one every 40 seconds at most — including having ID checked for a second time by the poll clerks, the poll clerks finding each person’s name on the actual compounded voters list, manual updating and signing of the log, receiving the ballot from the DRO, marking the ballot, returning the ballot to the DRO to have the tab torn off, and depositing the ballot in the ballot box).
– And by the time we got to the head of our line, it had refilled to about the same volume of people waiting as when we joined. So it was steady, while we were there.
Who can complain about any of that? I submit that differential levels of service might be due to differential levels of organization on the part of local Elections Canada outfits, which really has nothing to do with the ID requirements (they’re completely reasonable and responsible, in my view) and everything to do with, you know, Elections Canada’s sort-of ramshackle way of doing things, which I think is inherent in a more-or-less ad hoc, occasional and volunteer-dependent voting system (I’d hardly describe what the folks that run elections on the ground in this country get paid as much more than voluntary).
– As to the people voting, I’d say the crowd I saw skewed heavily toward the Conservative-favourable age demographics (according to the pollsters), with maybe 3 or 4 people in their twenties.
“The LIVs are in for a rude awakening”
They should be, however two questions:
Are they capable of recognizing an economic disaster even if it hits them between the eyes?
Would they admit that they were badly mistaken and vote more intelligently next time?
Remember … we are dealing with people stricken with HDS who are somewhat stupid to begin with.
I don’t know about the older demographic favoring Conservatives. Sensible ones do. I have bumped into quite a few retirement age women who are positively giddy about Justin. I know some younger women who do not like him. I have decided that the 50+ female is just the soft headed demographic that loves Trudeau, especially if they remember his dad. This would be funny if it were not so pathetic.
I’ve also read that the voter ID card that EC sends you in the mail is not sufficient proof of identity. You’ll need a driver’s license or something with photo ID, preferably.
