Is a Cult

Article 1: All persons who sign the Leap Manifesto, including Suzuki, should be immediately placed on an international no-fly list. They must never again be allowed to travel on planes powered by fossil fuels.

  1. This manifesto is more sensitive than Suzuki’s proposal that deniers should be jailed.
I think people of influence that deliberately tell lies for gain in which many others will inevitably suffer should be hung in the public square.
    That’s just me.

  2. I recently got into it with a work colleague (anti-pipeline, anti-oil-by-rail, anti-anything-oil, anti-fracking, anti-Conservative, anti-Israel, Harper-is-Hitler, etc., etc.) and called him out on his own use of fossil fuels. With a perfectly straight face he claimed that the big oil companies force him to drive, force him to travel, force him to use oil-based goods. These people are 1) demented and 2) hypocrites.

  3. As professor Glenn Reynolds says, “I’ll believe it’s a crisis when the people saying it’s a crisis start acting like it’s a crisis.”

  4. “…but they may only fish from the shore or from a row boat.”
Yep, no Lund or Smokercraft. How DID people fish before the invention of modern fishing line? I don’t mean the fancy monofilament, just the old fashioned woven type. When I was a kid we used a woven line that tangled like hell every time I cast, and I spent almost as much time untangling as I did fishing, but still had a lot of fun and caught lots of fish.
So how is Dr.Suzuki to remain true to his religion, and hand weave fishing line that will hold a forty pound Coho, as he fishes from his island home?
Excellent article, btw. Great ideas for our “betters” to live by.

  5. I’d add an article that suggests that limits all signatories to only one house.
Personally, I’m okay with people owning a second home or cottage (I don’t) but when you preach sustainability, and you own more than one house, then you’re a hypocrite.

  6. They forgot the most important…

  7. That LEAP meeting was a degrading spectacle. It really beats me how anybody could buy into it at all. After years and years of marching to the anti-capitalist drone, can’t the idiots see these elitists win hands down as to their contempt for the rest of humanity?

  8. They cannot connect dots … we are all dependent on systems that propellors cannot power. There is likely another great power source, but until we find it, we need the fossil fuels. The lefties would do much better to spend their energies and their money on finding a new source. However, you would still need help them understand that wind and solar are unicorns.
They, themselves could go a long way to setting an example by practicing what they preach, but then, we know that even though most of them believe their own bullshit, their leaders and the marionette masters behind the scenes know this who green movement is all part of the agenda 21 take over of free societies and creating a global feudal system etc …. It’s gonna get a lot uglier before it gets prettier.

  9. Everybody should read this excellent piece by Christine Whitaker
that exposes the utter hypocrisy of the nazi enviro crowd. Of course
the main stream media lapdogs will never publish anything remotely
    similar.

  10. Suzuki and his fellow Leapers are exhibit ‘A’ when you define hypocrites.
We could provide them with all the feathers they need to try to get their carcasses off the ground by placing them in their nether region to attempt to fly with the feathered bird species.I’m sure they’re on par with bird brains but without the instincts of same they may get lost. That would be a good idea.

  11. Included on that No Fly List AL GORE,BARACK OBAMA.JOHN TRAVOLTA,PRINCE CHARLES, as well as David Supukie

  12. Does Klein realize that the last social engineering Manifesto with “Leap” as part of its’ name killed 30+ million people in China from famine? The inhuman heartless ambitions of these people give rise to yet another atrocity waiting to be sprung on the masses. I agree 100% – let the signatories live the green powered minimalist carbon footprint existence and show the World how easy and practical it is.
BTW – the author missed another thing to add: Medical care using modern medicines and treatments produced or administered using fossil fuels has to be foregone. As Suzuki himself told an audience at the U of R in the Fall of 1984 – antibiotics should be banned from people. Let them leap down that path first. Hypocrites, the whole lot!

  13. Yes, it’s a cult – a cult of preening elites totally insulated from the social and fiscal realities of the working classes. The underlying, unstated core ofthis movement/belief system is that any demands they make for energy austerity do not impact the elite – they get to escape the impact.
So ya, I’m signing the petition to demand they walk the walk – but it doesn’t go far enough – it should also include an abstainance from ANY fossil fuel use at all – no plastics, petro chems, petro heat, electricity or travel – and no food that is produced with and transported with petro fuels – violation breach upon penalty of total wealth forfeiture to green energy projects.

  14. Suzuki along with the CBC advocates farming practices as demonstrated by Cuba. Since Cuba can’t feed its own people they are advocating just that, starving millions or even billions

  15. The ultimate social solution is a tax on all do-gooders.
150% of their gross is fine with me.
Do-gooder defined as these self identified A-Holes who claim the authority to dictate how other people will live their lives or channel their energies.
Occam is too kind, forfeiture of all assets and set adrift on an ice flow is more my speed.
With full video footage, in living colour, complete with wandering polar bear.
This is going to end like Socred did in BC, nobody would admit to voting for Bill and these self appointed saviours will all deny their own words.
It is a cold wind blowing and a cruel world when all you offer society is theft and stupidity.

  16. Love it…absolutely love it….a friend…at a hearing….public consultation….finally lost it…..
Said essentially the same things to intervenors and public.
He was willing to go back to coal, horse/buggy, walking etc/etc/etc/etc.
IF they were willing to toss “system” out….no one bit..silence ensued.
He was reported of course…..had suspension/leave imposed…not “conciliatory” or whatever.
Offered an early retirement on good terms…..took it.
We have to quit apologizing for what we have contributed to standard of life.
North of “49” no one survives without energy……a fact.
In any case…..love the proposal…waiting for list of signatories to this….

  17. Don Morris: “that will hold a forty pound Coho”
I wish. I do a lot of fishing and in my many years here on Vancouver Island, it’s relatively rare to get a 40lb. chinook. A really big coho COULD run to 20 lbs. but most will run 10 – 16 lbs.
BTW, I just spent 4 days on the Stamp River fishing for coho. The Stamp is one of the best rivers on the island and there were virtually no coho to be found. Just some ‘past their best before date’ sockeye and the occasional very black chinook. Strange, but that’s the nature of nature. Next year could be a boom year, one just never knows. Some would blame it on ‘global warming’ and the hot dry summer we experienced, but my experience tells me it’s just one of those unpredictable cycles of natural forces.
I recall them holding the incredibly expensive ‘Cohen Commission on Sockeye Salmon’ when the sockeye failed to show in the Fraser for several years. It was blamed on everything from climate change to overfishing. Needless to say, even while the commission was underway, the Fraser experienced its’ largest sockeye run in 100 years. That didn’t stop the Commission and all the attendant rent seekers from carrying on and reaching conclusions that ignored the evidence of natures’ sudden bounty before them

  18. Yes, I think she realizes that the last “Leap” forward resulted in the deaths of 30 million. that is part of their plan.

  19. Oh, I think Suzuki et al. should all be flying.
In fact, I think they should all take a flying Leap and get lost.

  20. Some deep ecologists have suggested the extintion of the human race claiming the world would be a better place, Frankly the world would be a better place of Suzuki,Ehrlich,Gore,Robert Kennedy Jr,Luarie David,John Travolta,Prince Charles,Greenpeace and all the rest of the deep ecology movment were stranded somewhere without the paparazi and the media scum

  21. Anyone not willing to display a bumper sticker saying “I support pipelines, fracking and oil sands development” should not be sold one drop of petroleum product nor one joule of NG. Anyone complaining needs to be reminded that it is for the good of their integrity as otherwise they would be seen as complete and utter hypocrites.

  22. Think of this as a pseudo scientific version of It’s A Wonderful
Life. Instead of looking at what the world would look like without
George Bailey, consider a world in which all oil related products
    did not exist.
All plastics would be gone. In the area of consumer goods, almost
NOTHING would exist. No automobiles, consumer electronics,
virtually every form of medical technology would cease to exist
along with the packaging that keeps them sterile.
Also say goodbye to all lubricants, chemical solvents, all industry
in any and all forms, and all forms of clothing made from any source
other than wool, cotton and animal pelts.
I have not even began to list all of the stuff that would no longer
exist in addition to the liberals losing their iPhones!
