  1. I hope the Conservatives federally point out this as the result of electing an NDP government.

  2. In both cases, the tax increase caused a restating of deferred tax liability upward, creating a large deferred tax expense on the income statement.
Before anyone makes an idiot NDP mistake by presuming that deferred tax means somebody is getting away with something, I’ll explain. Deferred tax is calculated by applying the known tax rate to timing differences between income for book purposes and income for tax purposes. The biggest and often only timing difference is the difference between net book value of assets for book purposes and undepreciated capital cost for tax purposes. Net book value is calculated by amortizing assets over their estimated useful lives while capital cost allowance for tax uses legislated rates.

  3. I hope PM Harper gets a chance in the debates to toss it at Mulcair who was ecstatic at Notley’s big win.
This is the stuff people need to be reminded of,the Socialists kill economies, bread lines follow.

  4. Whatever it takes to save the environment for the children.
    Viva Albertazuela!
    Thanks Rachez.

  5. You underestimate the parasites.
It may take more than one election cycle to get rid of them. The damage they do will take a generation to repair.

  6. The NDP has always had a way of killing the golden goose. They have never understood economics 101. Always the same, take from the rich and give to the poor. Unfortunately the rich have always been anyone that works for a living or employs workers. The poor means any drone that can be bought with more freebees. It’s the socialist way.
    Markon @1:10 encapsulates it nicely.

  7. The layoffs are already starting.
Chit…I saw a kid with a new jacked-up 4×4, a new sled on a trailer – clearing out his stuff from a new big house. I will bet you money he is learning about the ‘bust economy’…he just had that look about him. To put this in perspective for you guys out east, it’s like when GM lays off at the factory in Ontario: for every factory worker that gets his pink slip at GM, there’s four or five at the suppliers that feed GM that get theirs too. So it goes with the big players in the oilsands.
Complicating things will be a sluggish oil economy. We couldn’t have picked a WORSE time to put these socialist flinks in power. You folks chortling at us out east better not laugh too load – if we fall into the economic toilet we are going to land on you with all the weight of a Texas trucker that ate too much steak! Your economy will get a kick in the nads from this too – it isn’t any good for anyone.

  8. “The layoffs are already starting”
The layoffs have been going on for almost 10 months. Where have you been? In downtown Calgary alone, something like 20,000 people have been laid off and there are more to come. Many more. And that’s without even factoring in the NDP. This is our generation’s NEP and it is only now starting to sink in for many people.
Severances are running out (or have already), no one is buying those for sale vacation homes in BC, the investment portfolio is almost cleaned out and all that’s left is that $750,000/$1.2 million home that’s about to go on sale for about $600,000/$825,000, which no one wants, and which is carrying a mortgage the size of the sale price….
I wonder how the new Lamborghini dealer is doing?

  9. However Notely will press ahead as it is, as will Chairman Mulcair or the front man for Chinese hideout, since it is for the greater good.
And the people do not learn.

  10. sounds like a perfect talking point for the debate tonight .
Mulcair has already qualified for an indexed pension , he wont care.

  11. Progressives use emotion only, never considering the cost of their policies; they instead assume zero cost. Just watch the debates. Harper will have to identify, counter & contain their emotionalism. Speaking of the debates, I notice Mulcair is “rethinking” his participation of two of the upcoming debates that he perhaps now perceives himself as the frontrunner. I sense overconfidence.
I’m sensing a lot of energy from Harper. I hope he really goes after these progressive clowns and their false narratives.

  12. “New Democrats must begin now to insist on the redistribution of power, and not simply welfare, in a socialist direction. The struggle for worker participation in industrial decision-making and against management “rights” is such a move toward economic and social democracy.” Waffle Manefesto ~1970
What more is there to understand… the only missing part is the Brown Shirts….Cue the Muslims

  13. The layoffs have been going on for almost 10 months.
They’ve been going on for longer than that if you worked at the bleeding edge of the plant design field.

  14. Snipped from ZH…
The New Democratic party is one big family. This means – as those of us from big families know – they all detest each other. Or you will by the time NDP matriarchs and patriarchs get done parceling out too little to one group, too much to another and nothing to most.
New Democrats are particularly infatuated with the demographic group of poor voters. They provide many social programs for the poor. If you happen to be poor, you know what these social programs do. They pay you to stay poor.
New Democrats favor a higher minimum wage. And they’ll make sure you get a minimum wage. Forever.
New Democrats want to give you health care that’s free – and worth every penny.
And then they’ll tax the hell out of your beer and cigarettes – two of the few small pleasures available to the poor.
And they’re tough on business. After all, you might get into business. And make money. And then vote Conservative.

  15. Alberta just might slip into a have not province status and get a big fat check from taxpayers.

  16. Mulcair is not stupid. He carefully plans ahead. He is claiming when He is elected he will use His “Mandate” to abolish the Senate.
With the vast preponderance of Seats in Parliament held by Que. and Ont. and no pesky Senators to represent Western and the Maritimes
concerns ,Que/ Ont. run Canada. They no doubt will revert to the old protocol of two terms for a Que Premier then two for Ont. He also made it plain that pipelines are O K; as long as they move the oil to Que. for refining and export. He sets the stage for more demands by changing the majority for Separation to 51% from its present 60%. After a term or two He will be content to use His Dual Citizenship to retire in France.

  17. Maybe it’s time to amend the constitution that to be a member of cabinet or the supreme court, or serve as the governor general you must not be a citizen of a foreign country.
