  1. Outstanding in your field with the ducks.
Splendid, the duck will now be de-feathered and used to tar the news reporter out of town!
Meanwhile the rest of us will seek out a suitable chef to deliver us a spice festooned Duck L’Orange.
Raise a hearty glass of libation and laugh this poltroon out of town…
    Cheers

  2. I am happy that the morons reporting this are being called to account on twitter for being morons.

  3. Perhaps we should have a State Funeral for the duck. What a steaming pile of nonsense.

  4. Whoever the Moran was who filed this should look for employment in a field more suited to their talents. Whatever that might be.

  5. Heard this on am radio 660 in Calgary numerous times today. Millions of ducks dye every year by many different ways.Shirley this is a joke.

  6. Don’t call me Shirley!
Sorry, couldn’t resist. No intent to offend.

  7. More birds and bats die from windfarms then from oil spills but Greenpeace dont give a damn about them unless their trapped ina oil and these green freaks can make a cool million or more dollars over one of their stupid anti-oil campaigns

  8. Planned Parenthood sold 150 kilos of baby parts across the US today, but that’s not news – they do it every day.

  9. If Obama had had a duck, it’d been just like Nexie. Or KFC.
Shame, it was just turning its life around too…

  10. Did you know that the unnamed lake beside the spill has no oil in it ?
The press only shows an angle that makes the lake look black

  11. “The lake looked black?
One more reason to change Great Slave Lake to … “Great Martin Luther King Jr. Lake”? Or how about Great Shuckin’ and Jivin’ Lake?
    We must free the Lake.
Give it equality with Great Bear Lake. Bears are free.

  12. No but the politically correct should ask for a change in name as it celebrates the enslavement of one Indian band over another

  13. A single duck death (to an oil spill) is a tragedy. A million duck deaths (to wind farms) is a statistic.

  14. how many years do ducks live…life span…..1000’s must die every year from old age alone.

  15. Yesterday, the msm reported breathlessly that the oil spill covered 16,000 square metres!!!!
Which is 1.6 hectares, or about 4 acres. These a**holes will sensationalize until hell freezes over, no integrity whatsoever.
Now a duck has died, and “a Nation reels in shock”!
    Give me a f***ing break.
Oh, is this worse than Gamil Gharbi’s rampage? I have to ask as my outrage meter has rusted up.

  16. He was a good duck, and honest duck, a duck of the people.
Sadly, taken before his time, but he is in a better place now.
He always flew a straight line, and never shirked any of his duckly duties, and never ever shit too close to the nest.
A fine fine duck in every way.
A loving drake, a loyal friend, and a good target.
    Etc etc..

  17. By strange coincidence I saw a dead duck yesterday beside the river when I was out for a walk. Perhaps the iNews 880 helicopter did it in.

  18. Don’t blame the news on this. The death of a single duck is a trigger for federal regulations. Nexen was obligated to report this incident, regardless of whether the spill was a direct contributing factor or not. The stupidity lies directly at the hands of the regulators, the news just reported it.

  19. I hit a duck on the Trans-Canada last week. It hit the spoiler. Couldn’t determine if it cried out, ”quack, splat, or fack!!”

  20. Have any of you heard about a 12 year old farm boy who walks to town to buy a drake (male duck) for his father. The lad gets to town, pays the hatchery, gets some change back, and on his way home sees a poster that advertises a John Wayne movie. He goes to the ticket booth, but the girl refuses to let the duck into the theater. The lad tries desperately to find someone on the sidewalk that would be willing to babysit the duck during the movie, but with no avail.
So the lad decides to stuff the duck into his coveralls. He pays for the movie, and sneaks the duck into the show, not realizing that he is sitting beside two nuns, an old nun and a young novice.
During the movie, the duck begins to gasp for air. Afraid that he may start quacking, the boy opens the fly on his overalls and lets the duck stick his head out of the opening so it can breathe. The young nun looks over and is in total shock to see the duck’s head sticking out of the boy’s fly. She elbows the older nun lightly and whisperer’s, ”Sister, would you just look at that thing that boy has that’s sticking out of his fly!”
The older nun (who is deeply involved in the movie) whispers, ”Look, boys do things like that. Just ignore it. ”
”I’d love to” says the novice. ”But the damned thing is eating my popcorn!!”

  21. “Duck dies at Nexen spill site”
I know, I found him and a couple of his buddies at Safeway last week!

  22. I was struck by the reporting a few days back when they were reporting that MILLIONS of litres had leaked onto 4 acres of land. I’m thinking 4 acres? 4 ACRES!? Grampa had a hay slough that was bigger than that!

  23. …hmm, My daughter ran over 4 little ducklings as they were crossing the road on a curve here a few weeks ago….no one said boo except for some pinhead … and there are always at least one of them around… amazingly enough however, this did not make the local Calgary News..??

  24. “Yesterday, the msm reported breathlessly that the oil spill covered 16,000 square metres!!!!”
    Hmm, yes.
Now let’s see… there are a million square metres in a square kilometre… Alberta measures what? About 662,000 square kilometres? So that’s 662,000,000,000 square metres.
So 16,000 square metres is something like .00000241691 percent of Alberta?
I think Jane Fonda’s Santa Fe ranch (890 square metres) less the acreage around it,* would fit into that spill about 18 times.
    * But if you take her property around the ranch into account, it would take over 500 spills of this size to cover her 2,000 acres completely.

  25. And what did they spill? – water, bitumen and sand. Sounds like the ground mixed with water. Did they spill ground on the ground?

  26. There’s a dead skunk in the middle of the road, and it’s stinking to high heaven! Hold the front page!

  27. “A massive pipeline spill in northern Alberta has its first casualty.”
    Casualty? It’s clearly murder!
