Rescue gone mad: On June 10, CDC’s Poxvirus and Rabies Branch confirmed the diagnosis of rabies in a dog imported from Cairo, Egypt. In total, 18 US citizens (Virginia residents) have been started on rabies post-exposure prophylaxis due to contact with the rabid dog. Human and animal exposure investigations have been completed at the state level. A review is underway to determine how this infected dog was able to enter the United States.

I am sick and tired of dog rescuers Organizations warning people and want-a-bes, which NOW ARE CONVINCED that any dog in a car is in danger. One or my relatives is a vet, and someone was all worried about her dogs in a car a 7C in November. Me too – terrified to take my car to pick up milk, any more, FLICK all of these a##holes. My pure-bred is FINE thank you! Kudos to good breeders, as they also know how to better care for dogs than urban vets.
They would have had a veterinarian certificate stating that the dog had rabies vaccine longer than 2 weeks ago but less than the recommended life of the vaccine. Obviously an Egyptian vet’s ethics has a cheap price or someone just typed up a certificate or someone just photocopied one to cover a whole bunch of unidentified dogs. Now breeders are going to be driven nuts because of stupidity by the rescue mills.

Was Johnny Depp away visiting the pyramids?
What was the first clue here? I’d go with importing pets from third-wold
shit holes for 800 Alex!
Here we go again brining in animals from another nation carrying all these diseases and stuff
The talk at Saturday morning coffee last week was about rabies. A man in the know said the series of shots for his young son was over $10,000. The youngster was cleaning out a “abandoned” squirrel nest in a pecan tree. The squirrel was still in residence and bit the young man 3 times.
I went through the post exposure program a couple years ago. All in the hands. Those people won’t ever let their guard down around an unknown animal again. At least they got the thing for testing.
Just how long will the electorate continue to allow the false progressive agenda infantilize the incredibly stupid people. Those who have been educated the only goal in life is to get a governement job. Anything, no matter how demeaning the position jus to have a feeling of power and “we are doing good for the Little People and for ourselves as well.”
“Me too – terrified to take my car to pick up milk, any more, FLICK all of these a##holes.”
I’m with you, Liz. I won’t take my dog(s) shopping and leave them in the car because dog knappers might break into my car and steal them to use/sell as bait dogs to train fight dogs to kill dogs for assholes like Michael Vick to get betting profits and jollies.
And my 3 dogs are purebreds too and I love them. I brush their teeth everyday and I feed them good wholesome human quality food among other things that dog rescuers/adopters won’t do for dogs under their care.
The more society advances with knowledge and technology the more stupid we become. What is the difference between knowledge and wisdom? Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing that you wouldn’t put tomato in a fruit salad. So sad that way too many people in positions of influence have knowledge but so little wisdom.
How did the dog enter the U.S.? Same as every terrorist did. Through the airports. Those third world hang outs dotted across the U.S peopled with useless security guards.
Wisdom is the knowledge of right and wrong(intelligence), coupled with right action.
“The more society advances with knowledge and technology the more stupid we become.”
No. And who is “we”, …you and your tapeworm?
A fool cannot be kept from his folly.
All attempts in history to make anything ‘fool-proof’ has resulted in the discovery of a greater fool than the designers had anticipated.
“too many people in positions of influence”
You and I are people in a position to influence, thanks to Kate and her rocking blog here.
……I digress. Back to the wisdom/fool issue.
The Wiseman versus the Fool issue is the make or break issue determining democracy.
For every wise man there are 100 fools. Democracy cannot stand such a ratio, such a reality.
Even if the charade of democracy is maintained(so that people don’t seek the real thing) democracy will become nothing more than a front for totalitarianism in our lifetime if it has not already happened simply because of all the fools who exercise their franchise, especially the ones who are not invested in and do not understand democracy itself.
People in positions of power are a different topic. Mostly they have gotten power to affect the multitudes through a corrupt track or because ignorant people decided to excise their voting franchise because of a corrupt promise.
caveat:if you believe that democracy has a part in determining who has the power
Obama wouldn’t close air travel from Liberia to the U.S. during the Ebola pandemic, why would rabid dogs have any restrictions?
And yes I understand that if there weren’t a FAD to rescue/adopt dogs that this incident wouldn’t have happened.

I see what you did there.
My buddy was forced by his wife to bring back the kids cat from Qatar when he finished his contract. The cat spent 1 week in quarantine in London and than flew solo the rest of the way. Cost him $1500. He lived on a golf course and a week later the cat was missing, they eventually found the collar, figured a coyote got it. Expensive treat for coyote.
Happy wife, dead cat.
