Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Shocking, shocking I tell ya… 433shocking that only a half?
And the authorities have been insisting since 9/11 that only 1% of Muslims are radical and here this says half in Britain support ISL.
Someone’s got some ‘splainin’ to do.
This is easy Oz, supporting ISIL does not make them radical, it makes them pragmatic and reasonable:
“When people see a strong horse and a weak horse, they will naturally want to side with the strong horse. When people of the world look upon the confusion and atheism of the West, they see that Islam is the strong horse.” ~ OBL
Sadly so.
Definitely the Brits have not been handing out enough parkas.
Colonialista, you may have a point there about the OBL quote. Western Europe and North America have become quite a moral dunghill lately. I expect that the results of a similar survey here might not be that much different. They are just quietly seething over the degradation and the truth comes out if they can answer a survey without exposing their identity.
OZ and you are right. ISIS is on a roll. They have captured most of Sunni Iraq. They keep piling up the wins.
They are terrorizing their enemies with grisly executions, rapes, extortion, and kidnappings. They believe in their Jihad, and are attracting a lot of recruits. “Is life boring? Sick of your boring job? Tired of not having dates? Come be a Jihadi!. Be a big man with a Gun! Own your own Sex Slave! Fight for Islam! Die for Allah, and all your sins are forgiven!”
All this could have been prevented. Iraq was at peace in 2008, 2009, and 2010. All Obama had to do was leave 10,000 – 20,000 troops to support the Iraqi Army and help them integregate the Sunni Awakening troops into the Army. Instead the genius withdrew all the US troops and let Maliki turn the Iraqi Army into a Shiite Gang. Obama’s US wasn’t going to be neo-colonial oppressor. No Sir. He was going to let the Iraqis do want the Iraqis wanted to; fair, equitable, just, or not. No Neo-Colonial Western constructs like fairness, equality, and justice need apply to the poor oppressed Iraqis.
And after all, it was only fair that the Iraqi Shia screw over the Sunnis. That’s just redistributive justice and reparations, now that the Shia have the power. Arab Spring! Let the revolution begin!
So what if the Sunni got upset? What was the worst that could happen? /sarc
“supporting ISIL does not make them radical, it makes them pragmatic and reasonable”
I think it makes them Muslims. That said, the ones who need to do the explaining are the ‘authorities’ who told us 1% were radical and the other 99% were(now read this carefully) …m.o.d.e.r.a.t.e…
There is no such thing as a moderate muslim, they all must adhere to the Quran which states infidels must be killed
oldnews…….. please learn to construct a sentence. wally reaume, you are 100% correct. there is no wiggle room in islam, you are in or you are out, out as in dead.
Looks like UK Express scrubbed the story from their site.
Islamist extremism is, and has always been, primarily a problem for Muslims who represent – ironically! – its greatest number of victims by far.
However, I do not see Islam coming to grips with the problem and “cleaning house” in any substantive way; instead, an all-pervading aura of denial and relativism hangs over the Muslim world.*
Say what you will about the old Ottoman Sultan in Constantinople but he would have known exactly how to deal with the Islamic State.
* And to be fair, since that same aura of denial and relativism hangs over the West, why should Muslims be any different?
Yup. The article has gone down the memory hole.
Cowards.

Yes, there are two kinds the of mooselimbs, the radical kind that wants to kill you and the .m.o.d.e.r.a.t.e. kind that wants the radical kind to kill you.
An internet search shows copies of the Express article were posted to other websites
before it was taken down.
A very significant polling result indeed, but contrary to the politically correct narrative of the British government.
Freedom of the Press in Britain needs to re-assert itself.
British Liberty is a founding and fundamental principle of the 5 English speaking nations.
I’d expect the polling numbers would be lower in North America, but still alarmingly high. Certainly in the hundreds of thousands.
That is why the Canadian government passed Bill C-51 in such a hurry.
After all, the Islamic State is following orthodoxy, the way of Mo.
Instead of suppressing polling results, Western countries badly need a public discussion about the ideology of Islam, Sharia Law and Islamic Jihad.
We can’t prevail over an ideology we can’t discuss, even when it’s inferior to ours.

Half of British Muslims ‘support ISIS’ as fears grow over influence of terror group
HALF of Britain’s three million Muslims could support the Islamic State terror group, a shocking new survey has revealed.
9 per cent of British adults hold a positive view of the group, up from just 2 per cent a year ago, according to pollsters ICM.
The figure suggests that 1.5million of the country’s 3million Muslims could be ISIS sympathisers.
Haras Rafiq of the Quilliam Foundation think-tank said he was “not surprised” by the findings.
He said: “There are undoubtedly a significant number of people in the UK who believe in the concept of the Islamic State.
“The sheer numbers of people going out there to Syria and Iraq indicate that this support is there.”
In April it was revealed that nearly 700 Britons have gone to fight with jihadis in the Middle East.
However, more than half had already returned to Britain – with many being heavily monitored amid fears they could be planning terrorist attacks here.
In March a former British supermarket worker who travelled to Syria to join Islamic State complained about his “lonely” life in the caliphate.
Omar Hussain, 27, complained about peeling potatoes and bemoaned the lack of Jaffa Cakes in the war-torn country on his Twitter account.
Last year he told BBC2’s Newsnight: “I hate the UK, the only reason why I would intend to return to the UK is when I want to come and plant a bomb somewhere.

The Daily Express is a major newspaper
and ICM is well known, given this story
likely made the print edition, too.
Suppressing this poll/article is futile.
Typical of the politically correct denial of reality.
The ONLY Muslims who don’t support ISIS are the “bad Muslims” who don’t practice their faith or take it seriously. ISIS is acting just as the the Koran says they should. In fact, ISIS acts just like Mohamed did when he was alive, so ISIS followers are the true followers of Islam, and the poll in the UK reflects this. In fact, Muslims universally support the goals and objectives of ISIS–a Muslim Caliphate–so the UK poll is actually misleading. Some Muslims may object to the methods of ISIS, but its endgame is the main tenant of Islam. Isn’t diversity wonderful?
