In this case it was drugs, but there’s always an underground economy and illegal activities that the government can’t control. Being Democrats, and smarter than everyone else, they decided that the answer was to take away rights from everyone else. A police state was created by the Democrats. This caused class and racial divisions.
Colonista – there’s nothing surprising to me in the story you linked, other than the author never noting whose policies caused the rot that festered for so many years. Instead, he blames it on the war on drugs. Civilization cannot be imposed as a simple set of rules that people should follow or be forced to follow (at gunpoint). As previously stated in posts long past, in a society of angels you don’t need police. The government of the city decided to treat all citizens as wolves. Now they’re dealing with rabid wolves. To whom is this a surprise? “One size fits all” is not a belief of western conservatives.
