There are times that think keeping the CBC afloat might actually be a good idea, in the same way that the Iraq war was about bogging down jihadists in a foreign country where they were easily identifiable. After all, if the CBC were shut down, all those people would go get jobs elsewhere and spread out amongst the rest of the Canadian media landscape, taking their pernicious ideas with them. At least with the CBC, they’re all in one place that can be safely discounted.
Harper has played nice with the CBC and the rest of the lamestream media for 9 years and what has it gotten him? The Duffy scandal and the Wallin scandal and continuous biased reporting. I note that the CBC never mentions that those two are ex-employees of the CBC.
Pull the plug on the CBC and let the lefties who run it drive it into bankruptcy.

Look on the bright side: because JT is a moron, a dud, a political liability, the CBC knows he cannot win the election on his own. Their belief is not “let the chips fall where they may” or “may the best man win”. And so the worse he does, the more the CBC will get caught trying to influence the election through skewed, biased news reporting. This will only serve to undermine the 3 most important things they should care about most: trust, credibility, and my favourite, relevance. If you’re a Canadian who still doesn’t believe the CBC has a Liberal bias during the campaign, then you’re either to stupid to flag it or, and more disturbingly, you’re intellectual dishonest, knowing of its bias bit approving it because it benefits team red.
My strategy would be to keep the CBC afloat and twisting in the wind by an ever diminishing budget. The tighter the noose gets the more desperate their agenda will become. Let them peel back the layers of their own rotting onion. Idiots can be very useful especially when they’re banded together; one carefully placed missile and they’re all gone.
This is another example of why the CBC should be defunded. This twerp who was born here and stayed a couple of years, thanks to Cretin, is some kind of media hero now. He is no child soldier, as the jihadists do not adhere to international rules of war. He was a murderer of an nuetral American medic, trained by Al Quaida and convicted in the US. They plan to sell off real estate to support programming, but frankly, CBC is now irrelevant with respect to Canadian culture.
You have to hand it to Khadr’s team, it was a brilliant strategy to make it him vs Harper instead of him vs some faceless bureaucracy. That made it sooo easy to recruit those trained by the msm agenda to support a convicted terrorist by proxy.

Yes Chretien was PM when CSIS asked Khadr questions worth apparently $20 million. The rest is the grinding of the justice system. I really doubt Harper ever made any decision concerning the choir boy. I suspect everything just played out under the justice system bureaucracy. I attended our riding association AGM last weekend. Truly a depressing experience as the meeting commenced with about 15 people. This has been a stalwart conservative riding back to Reform days when we elected our MP on the 2nd Reform election. Membership has shrunk from 1780 down to +/- 500. The CPC has become such a top down org that no alarm bells seem to be ringing. I stated at the AGM that if I ran my business like this I would be bankrupt within a year. IMHO progressives and political carpetbaggers have taken over this party. If they retain their majority it will be on the coat tails of Stephen Harper.

It will happen. The left and media know that if Harper wins another majority, that it will be all over for the CBC in its current iteration, and very likely the end of the LPC as we know it. Coalition is their only chance at power and they will take it, despite their lying protestations.
It is going to be all or nothing – all they need to do is ramp up the anti Harper rhetoric to full steam, while pushing the NDP anomoly win in Alberta as a national movement, and of course promote the new Trudeaumania!
The NDP win in AB is a game changer. The bloom will still be on the rose come Oct (no major policy announcements before then) and its very possible the NDP could pick up 10 seats in Alberta – those are CPC seats so it is a 20 seat swing. Enough to hold the CPC to a minority.

I echo your comments about the CPC and the riding associations! My riding has had a long running MP who got elected the first time under the Reform banner — he is solidly a reformer. He has been fighting a rag-tag group of the last remaining federal Progressive conservative party members who have tried to put in a more “Progressive” candidate at every candidate nomination since the two parties merged. Of course, before the merger the federal PCs tried to elect their own PC candidate.
The sad part of this locally is that the same cabal controls the local Wildrose association. They are what one commentator on this site has called in the past the ESI riders. ESI = Elightened Self Interest which means they are in it for their own self interest and they believe they should be in control because they believe they are the enlightened (more fully evolved) ones. Basically they are lefties that wouldn’t get elected with a left wing party so they infiltrate the Party of power. Their defacto leader ran as the WR candidate and lost, again, in a riding that would definitely elect a WR candidate if only it were a different candidate.
Regarding the membership, many former Reformers dislike the workings of the local political machines and gave up their memberships over the years as the ESI riders take over more and more the local associations. I hope, probably naively, they still support but just don’t want to be associated with the local free loaders. They may be motivated at the next leadership convention which I hope is a good 10 years away — two elections from now.
You know what would be fun to have here? An over/under pool for us to gamble on when little Omar commits his next serious crime. Structure it on time range and nature of the crime. You could use, say, a six-month window for the time range. So, I might (hypothetically) guess “murder, 9 to 15 months”. When the inevitable Omar crime does occur, closest guess wins half the pot, and the rest goes to SDA, as in your typical 50/50 draw. Needless to say, you “donate” X dollars to SDA to register a guess.
I’m not sure this would be legal, but the outrage from the Leftosphere once it became known would be sweet indeed.
I remember when Reform started up that the HO in Calgary actually sent people into the field for organizing purposes but also to channel feedback back to Calgary.
I do not know how the CPC gauge how their riding associations are doing other than by
membership renewals. If that is the case then alarm bells should be sounding but I
don’t hear any. IMHO there should be a HO rep at EVERY riding AGM. There are pretty basic things that could be done but are not.
Of course they will never have a viewer call in during broadcast – it’s one way propaganda – no wonder the Dino Cable news is dying – IF this was done real time on the net with viewer feed back there would be instant recodgnition that the majority of Canadians are not comfortable with coddling Jihadis and they certainly do not share CBC’s Jihadi groupie attitudes.

I note that the site owner, one Aaf Post says she travelled all the way from Holland, just to visit sweet Omar in his Milhaven prison cell.
She describes s him thusly, “tall, athletic, young man with an extraordinarily gentle appearance — someone who transcends the environment.” She goes on to say that, “Omar told us his faith had become his anchor to guide him through the tough years; it structured his day and grounded him. It prevented him from judging others and helped him in forgiving his oppressors.”
There’s something fundamentally wrong with a woman who would travel all the way from Holland – with a five year old in tow – to devote her efforts to someone like Kadhr. His faith ‘anchor’ deems her a kuffar worth half that of a kuffar man, who in turn is worthless.
And what the hell is up with an ultra-liberal Dutchwoman, who no doubt supports all things left – from gay marriage to abortion to secularism – that are completely abhorrent to Khadr.
