  1. Saw this a few days ago and took some hope that at least a few students had had sense enough to mock the protesters. If the song was not done by Oberlin Chorus, at least somewhere there is some group on which to pin our hopes. Cheers, Eric

    Back in the day, our offsprings were told in grade 7 and in no uncertain terms that: 1) they would graduate from high school: 2) they would take post-secondary courses of some sort; 3) they would have to contribute financially to cost of post-secondary courses; and 4) given #3,they had to start earning and saving NOW.
    Okay, we did relent in some moments and under certain circumstances (Rotary exchange for one, best non-Canadian school for another). But the principle held. And so we have three great kids who are doing well and contributing to society.
    Only problem is – as a tax client said – we infused too much of the work ethic into our children. An honest day’s work for a day’s pay is so derided now. But we – and my clients – stick by our principles.
