  4. I agree the originals weren’t any great shakes…but they were fun.
    I admit I used to watch Xena too – the boobage was great and watching the bimbos beat the tar out of dozens of evil armed Roman Legionairies was a hoot. At the time I just laughed off the clucking and the squawking from the egg-laying hordes of feminists and lesbians that seemed to read more into the show and derive some deep meaning out of it. Stupid people would make of it what they would – for me it was just fun and a great way to chill and be with the kids.
    But I am with Captain Capitalism on this. I am sick and tired of shelling out good money to see a movie or buy a book that is basically just a hectoring lecture by some liberal social justice retard. I have a message for Hollywood and the publishing industry: take your perverted sexual lifestyles, your sanctimonious social justice warriors, and your flaming liberal flimps – and go SOD yourself with them!

  5. Really? Like in all Mad Max movies everyone is totally screwed up five different ways. So we expect the female lead to put on a apron and make a sandwich? I am embarrassed by you people. She finds herself in a crappy situation and takes matters into her own hands because there is no one to help her. A real feminist would not have taken on the help of Max at all.

  6. In a real mad max world senario, women will be bought and sold as property, or will be under the protection of a man or a group of men. The myth of the female warrior is just that, a myth. We live in a semi civilized western world than enables women to live as equals. Ask a woman in a Afghanistan “Who’s the boss?” I imagine that she will have to ask a man for permission to speak. Funny how feminists ignore that little reality.

Nothing new for artists to revisit their crowning works later on – the lure of being able to scratch that “if I had it to do over” itch with today’s technology, combined with perhaps having never done anything since that made such an impact, is perfectly natural. I’ll see it, as a nod to the original, which was well done.
    If he’s jumped the shark, I’ll shrug and think “well, enjoy your retirement fund” because he’ll have lost me.

    Right on Glenfilthie. You pretty much summed up 98% of the out put of “Canadian Content” drivel we are forced to watch and support which comes from the subsidized Canadian film and TV industry – the primary reason I removed cable TV from my home some years ago.
    I-net news and streaming keep me entertained and informed now because there is actual user choice – you can filter out the “messaging” from the entertainment.

    Exactly, and as Occam adds “Canadian Content”, Canadian content is arguably worse.
    Good for Adam for the interview and for pointing out to the interviewer the difference between having a female co-hero and billing the movie as an endorsement of feminism.
    My wife is even more adamant than I that we never watch any of this type of garbage. She even turns off commercials that denigrate men and has stopped buying the products of companies that air these ads.

    The movie was stupid.

    BTW, regarding the new Ghost Busters, it stretches reality beyond belief. I can accept ghosts; but, if I do have a ghost, I sure as hell ain’t gonna call a bunch of broads to come and help.

  20. Bottom line is if you don’t like the story – don’t see it. People will vote with their dollars and men make up half the movie going population. No amount of good advertising will get a weak film past its’ opening week. I’m not especially enamoured with the bias towards strong female hero’s in recent Disney animated features for instance but if the storyline has something redeeming and wholesome enough I’ll take my kids to it. People in general are smarter then we’re given credit for and men aren’t the idiotic Homer Simpson buffoons feminists love to endlessly cackle about in their diatribes.
    If Hollywood really wants to attract more dollars they’ll figure it out – and actually do from time to time. A patronizing male-demonizing script isn’t going to pack’em in no matter how many shades of grey artsy movie reviewers paint with their words. Good job to the Captain for facing the poor taste overly personal marginalizing attacks of an immature hysterical feminist left. The heads up on the belittling Mad Max is appreciated. I for one didn’t care for the old Max and have even less desire for the new one.

  21. Hell yeah, the Captain really got their panties in a bunch. As a Rabid Puppy, I approve. I just finished a series of military SF (books) that were so full of “you go girl” I had to skip chapters to keep interested in the plot.
    Hiding the blue pill in an action movie treat is something they don’t want to be called out on and predictably screaming bloody murder ensures that the message gets out.
    Every time this happens, a few more guys stick around and get educated, and maybe, just maybe some heartbroken, suicidal Beta will get smacked with the clue bat and realized that he got burned by a rigged game. God knows I could have used that 20 years ago, would of saved me 15 years hiding in the bottom of a liquor bottle.
    If it saves one life, isn’t that what they all say?

    In the real world, no one’s afraid of the entertainers (producers, writers, actors) who try to blanket the world with the latest, hideously time-bound quasi-Marxist reeducation curricula. Those people are just annoying.

    This statement makes it sound that those “spaces” just existed in a state of nature, that men then took them over and kicked the women out. It doesn’t work like that. Those spaces were created by men, not necessarily for men, but my men, the feminists then insinuate themselves into those spaces and try to re-engineer them so that they feel more comfortable. They really should just create their own spaces.

  30. Won’t be seeing this nonsense! From the runners, everyone seems to be from the “undead” or somesuch. I guess I am just too pro-life, and find all the ghouls and vampire types a little silly. And, I have seen enough of these ballsy women to last a life time. Why is it that now even all the judges in the sitcoms have to be women, and usually black women at that?
    Out here on the Left Coast, even the commercials are “oriented” towards Asians. Drive thru Richmond and all you see is Chinese signs, and a trip down Kingsway in Vancouver is a trip to Hanoi. What the hell is “Pho” anyway?

Surely you don’t claim to see anything redeemable in their world view. That would be childish and intellectually frivolous. Unless you support the Shariah, of course, in which case I stand both corrected and disgusted.

  33. What I find kind of interesting about all this is that the original Mad Max movie – the Australian one – was so… well, I’ll quote the review from the now sadly-defunct Mr. Cranky:
    “The gay subtext in this film is so blatantly obvious that it’s more super- than sub – so super it should be flying around in a pink cape singing ‘Here I come to save the gayyyy'”
    I suspect most fans of the franchise really only remember Beyond Thunderdome, which was the only movie to actually showcase the post-apocalyptic society and how the people in it lived.
