  1. Read some of the comments earlier from the CBC poll.
    even with the yes, Khadr is a thereat, leading it appears all of the comments
    are against the sitting Govt.
    I don’t remember hearing PM Harper killing anyone or walking around with a
    trap line filled with hands.
    Maybe I am missing something but the Govt. is trying to protect the general
    public while the CBC and there ILK are trying to ________ (words fail me on this)

  2. How do you gain power when the electorate won’t give it to you. Easy, through other “institutions” such as the judiciary, something Trudeau the senior said would never happen – an activist judiciary invoking their political beliefs on matters of law. How long before government “institutions” decide what you can say or how you can think, no matter for whom vote? Handled – witness the recent HRC witch hunts. The CBC joined the party a long time ago. Let’s not forget scientists angry because they can’t be political activists on the taxpayers’ dime. Of course our enlightened intelligentsia in the universities and other taxpayer funded areas – well you can’t expect a capitalist to fund them, right?
    I recently received my copy of William Gairdner’s “The Great Divide – Why Liberals and Conservatives will Never, Ever Agree” I was holding off reading it until camping season but had to take a peek. I didn’t have to read for long to get some insight into our present so-called debate (hopefully the quote if “fair use,” or free publicity?):

People that still have a mind of their own are not fighting for the right to be heard, they are fighting group think and political correctness fostered by almost all higher halls of learning and a main scream media that has placed bets on the projected winners of the outcome, just to stay on the safe side. The left seems to feel that momentum is on their side. They feel they are winning without questioning what they are even fighting for except if the right is against them, then it must be a just cause. That they are useful idiots would never occur to them and that they are destroying everything past generations fought and died for is the furthest thing from their minds. It’s what happens when a empire dies of neglect or bureaucratic overkill. From lean and hungry to overfed with too much time on their hands only takes a couple of generations. They no longer recognize the wolf at the door and don’t bother to look at history to see the symptoms repeating a familiar pattern. Unfortunately, the only thing that could save us is a major catastrophe or a war. Or both. Resets are painful but the survivors start with a clean slate with all priorities in the proper order or forced to follow someone else’s priorities. Democracies (or Republics) seldom last more than a couple hundred years. What we are seeing in the surge towards wealth distribution of the left and political correctness is the reason why. Familiarity breeds contempt and the wolf at the door is patient. Much like the Trojan horse, bring it in while we celebrate our excess.

  7. Not going to get into it again with a moron like Ezra, a racist, smirking, whining clown that he is, BUT… lets go over a few facts:
    :: Omar was a child soldier.
    :: Therefore a victim of a war crime committed by his father and al queda.
    :: Also a victim of torture by the US. This is not up for debate, but fact proven by the US Senate Intelligence review committee, re-enforced by the fact that his first interogator, Joshua Claus, was convicted of abusing prisoners.
    :: Finally, he was, and is, a victim of this country’s government, which has failed to acknowledge that he was a child soldier, and should not be held to the same account as an adult.
    If any of you losers for a second believed that a 15-year-old should be considered an adult, you would be lobbying for kids to have the right to smoke, drink, drive, screw (both kids AND adults), own a gun, vote, become a soldier, or a cop walking the beat.
    But since none of you will, because that would be crazy, EVEN for this site, it only goes to prove the point that the only reason Khadr should be held to account is because he is a Muslim, and/or Brown.

    Allies had no problem liquidating ‘child soldiers’ in the 11-17 year age bracket during WWII; when they posed a well armed significant threat.
    In particular, if the opponents were motivated with an overriding propagandized ideology.
    Khadr by all accounts still maintains his ‘jihadi’ ideological focus; but now if he ‘acts out’ he will take the fall as an adult.

He was also not a child soldier, as soldier implies certain rules and standards that he did not have. He’s your run of the mill terrorist who will never become part of canada unless it’s to destroy it. Do you honestly believe the years he spent with the human garbage in Guantanamo will make him a better citizen or appreciate the morons that want to set him free ?     The first half is the PROGRESSIVE platform, not a conservative one.
    Most conservatives would love to RAISE the voting age, actually.
    And as for the cop/soldier thing, that’s a platform that only exists in your mind. Never crossed mine or anybody’s on this site I dare say.

  17. What people like John fail to realize or admit, is that regardless of the Geneva conventions, Omar was raise in a culture where you are an adult in your mid teens. Not only was he not a child soldier according to the conventions, he wasn’t a child according to the culture in which he was raised.

  19. When someone begins a defense of Khadr with the words “he was a child soldier”, you may immediately dismiss all that follows as the opinion of an idiot or a liar.
    The facts are that he was not.
