At The Gods of the Copybook Headings:
Will Alberta Go Crazy?
…
When people talk about Canada being a Multicultural Hotel, a loathsome phrase, they’re thinking of Toronto. The city is a gigantic churning machine for human beings. Sucking in immigrants before spitting them out into the sprawl lands that surround the Imperial Capital. There are very few native Torontonians. Everyone really is from somewhere else. People think I’m a bit of a freak because I’ve been here my whole life. I probably am.
If you’re a WASP of a Leftist hue and professional income, either born in or near Toronto, why would you stay? There were until recently labour shortages in all sectors of the Alberta economy. Why not move out west young Yuppie? Per square foot it’s cheaper, you’ll earn more and there are mountains off in the distance. In Toronto the only thing you’ll see in the distance is Mississauga. Assuming you can see it all on certain days.
What Toronto has done is export just enough of its Dippers to shift the balance of power in the Alberta Legislature. The first sign of this was the election of Mayor Nenshi in Calgary. It seems we’re on the verge of a complete Toronto takeover of the province. Let me be the first to say that you’re all screwed. Completely. Your only hope is to sneak into Montana before the Yanks realize what’s happening…

A pluague more deadly the the Bubonic pluague of the 1500’s europe the pluague of Multi-Culteralism
welfare keeps people from moving to where the work is. when i was a kid people when wherever the work was. it seems that only newfs have enough energy or smarts to do that. why not let the muzzies have the country no one else wants it.
“Always remember that no matter where you go, there you are.” The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, 1984
“Always remember that no matter where Dippers go, they are still pernicious retards.” Phantom Restatement of Buckaroo Banzai, 2015.
Really, they have killed Ontario’s industry meaning there is no money. Alberta has the money, the leeches are moving where hey can suck the most blood.
I really hate to say it but Alberta will soon be screwed (and not even a kiss). Alberta Dippers will totally ignore the Saskatchewan Dipper experience (and birthplace)and especially the growth since Premier Wall took the reins.
See Alberta become a have-not province faster than Ontario did.
Mark you (and many others) are completely wrong.
The source of the left-inv support is largely first generation Albertan’s and much more significantly the boom in government employment – over 100,000 in less than ten years.
People coming from other provinces are FLEEING the left-wing failing economies of those provinces. Many are ardent right wingers.
Alberta since European settlers first arrived has been heavily populated by people from elsewhere – places that were left-wing.
As I said on the other thread the NDPee only have one industry to wreck in Alberta, they should be able to tax it to death in one term. Hero to zero in five years kids. Sell that house -now-.
Disagree with the premise – the growth of the post modern left in Alberta is not via “eastern” imports. It is, to use a buzz phrase, very organic. I have lived east of Ontario my whole life.
The vast majority of imports from the east (and coastal west) I have met in Alberta over the years are hard working, thrifty, and responsible. This perhaps is why they uprooted themselves and came to Alberta for a better life.
Conversely, many of the most annoying members of the chattering left I know were born in Alberta or are long time residents. Andrew Nikiforuk gleefully chirping over the “climate karma” that hit Calgary families who lost their homes in the 2013 flood is emblematic. Western society is becoming increasingly narcissistic and infantilized. Alberta is no exception.
And yes, there are exceptions both ways.
Interestingly enough, his brother was working with Manning.
Deja Vu? BC NDP to Win wfElection
I’d like to point out that the unofficial State Motto of Montana is: Shoot, Shovel, Shut-up. Try Washington instead.
Just wait till they get their first taste of provincial sales tax! You know it’s coming. Albertans will get the government they elected good and hard.
the article is incorrect on the rise of the left wing in Alberta. Most people who move to alberta are very conservative. They often left as socialist governments in other provinces destroyed the economy. Most left wingers are born and bred in Alberta. They have not experienced the pain of an NDP government. The socialist platitudes their college professors preach seem like such a good idea. People want change and the PCs need to go. Hopefully this will not involve a NDP majority as economic pain will result.
I’ve been warning of this disease contaminating Alberta for nearly a decade here. It’s a big part of what “close the damned borders” is all about. You can’t stop the deadbeats from Toronto getting to Alberta, but you can slow the process by slowing the welfare tourism to Canada.
No different than California freely allowing millions of parasitic freeloaders into it’s “Sanctuary”. Then it’s a hop skip and a jump to the rest of the country. After that it’s simply another open border and another sanctuary called Toronto to get a free feed.
It’s not only borders of course, but conservative Canadians have no backbone or higher ambitions to say no to whats wrong anymore. Even for the sake of self preservation.
Now Albertan’s are faced with the prospects of an immoral communist beast in their lives, nice.
It does sound nutty although I am not so sure it is necessarily all Eastern imports as rather a factor of demographics. Alberta has the youngest median age of any province and younger people today tend to be more left wing than the older ones who grew up in a generation when you were expected to pull up your bootstraps and work for things, not demand more from those who earned it. Even if the polls are as off as last Alberta election or the last BC election, the NDP would still come out on top although at least with a minority thus keeping them in check. The only good news long term is hopefully it will be like Ontario and BC where the experience will be so unpleasant it will take many years for the NDP to ever regain power.
Back in the 1960’s W.A.C. Bennett, the best Premier this Province ever had, used to bellow from the platform,”always remember, my friends, that a vote for the NDP is a vote for COMMUNISM”.
When I was young I thought this was overblown rhetoric, now I’ve been around a few more decades I realise WAC was merely being thrifty with words. They may call themselves “socialists” but beneath that sh** eating smile, they’re just what Premier Bennett said they were.
C’mon Albertans, don’t elect these bast**ds to run your Province. No matter how bad the others may seem, the NDP are worse. Millions of us who lived under the NDP know this,so please just take our word for it,don’t inflict these parasites on yourselves.
You know those fackurs are sure organized for this being a snap election, I think a lot of people here are right in saying it is mostly the younger people voting for the Commies. I think it’s mostly the University crowd pushing them because their trolls are all over the web shouting about the glory of the NDP when most people are at work being productive. Also Calgary is covered in chalk graffiti with their logo. If you were to dig to the bottom of that pile of sh_t you would find the Unions have their hands all over this election. Not to mention Global news’ non stop coverage of it. They were ready to crown them a week ago, election influence much?
Alberta isn’t a sovereign state, it’s a province. As Canadians, We’re free to move anywhere we want in this country. The moment a Canadian establishes residency in Alberta, they’re an Albertan.
If you get an NDP government, it’ll be because Albertans themselves (i.e., the residents of the province) voted for one.
Stop looking for bogeymen elsewhere.
Some years ago, I suggested that the influx of “new” Albertans would eventually result in a leftward drift of the voters, and was laughed at for my trouble. “Never (bleeping) happen, my detractors said, as lately as last week.
So upon the announcement of an NDP victory, I am declaring myself victorious as well, only in my case it will be a hollow victory.
JJM >
“Alberta isn’t a sovereign state, it’s a province.”
Yes, I believe that was the point I made. If you re-read what I wrote you will see that that is exactly what I stated.
Yet as a province Alberta has had a “culture” and a traditional set of values separate from other provinces, yes? That is why we haven’t traditionally resembled Newfoundland or Quebec in many ways other than politics. Do you disagree?
A large part of the changing Alberta culture and values has been introduced from other sources, much of those negatively, even parasitical in the way of socialist values and a keen eye on Alberta’s resources.
All conservative strongholds have been under aggressive socialist infiltration since the 60’s, and they are winning. I could give a rats ass what anyone thinks about my defending those values, my culture, and personal stand against encroaching socialism.
There’s no boogyman where I’m standing, just a bunch of parasitic imports who are voting my province into the dirtbag eurozone.
Dead on. As that Saskatchewan fellow said in the video, the socialist CCF was born in Alberta in the 1930s. It’s not like leftyism is a recent arrival to the province.
Kate always say what we need is a famine. It seems Alberta s going to get its famine just like Saskatchewan did.
The Rat >
Sometimes you need a famine.
The good news is that with falling oil prices many of the rats are finally fleeing the ship as the handouts start to dry up.

Oh well I’m glad I’ve made all the money I’ll ever need. Enjoy the recession Alberta.
this is a BACKLASH period…but a damned dangerous one.
the so called conservatives need to take a good looking the mirror…not us.
Love to hear what the boys in Downtown Calgary have to say….SheeeeeeeeIT..!!
You stupid basta**s!
At this moment it’s NDP 54, WR-19,PC-12.
Well,at least we BC’ers won’t have to put up with any more smug “left coast” remarks by Albertans here.
I guess we’ll just have to call you “commie stubble-jumpers”!
Gord Tulk’s comment has hit the nail squarely on the head. It reflects my personal experience exactly.
When any native Albertan gives me a ribbing about being from Toronto, I sometimes remind them that, unlike them, I’m not here merely by accident of birth. I came here deliberately and for good reasons.
I’ve been fortunate that my instincts have paid off over the years, and that I’ve enjoyed far more career success than I likely would have had, had I remained in Toronto. I don’t want to ever move back, and I don’t want to lose what I’ve won.
Regrettably, Albertans seemed to have forgotten how the “Alberta advantage” came about in the first place, and they have become complacent. We are now a very serious risk of getting sucked into the mire.
Don’t let it happen.
the results clearly show that a majority of albertans voted WR or Con. get rid of the cons and next election alberta will be safe again.
Absolutely Albertan’s separated the Wheat from the Chaff last night!
The Progressive half of the “Progressive Conservatives” exposed themselves and were exorcised. What you saw remaining in the WRP and Conservative camp was the true Conservative Alberta.
Without further communist possession hiding in its shadows, you will see the Conservative backlash on the next eclectic.
