At this point, it looks like the best one can hope for is that no one’s been injured.

Appears the docks are on fire…doesn’t look like any ships on fire from some of the other photos.

My bud lives 4 km from that dock. He had no idea, but heading down there to have a look. He slept right thru the whole thing. Lol
Air is heavy with the smell of smoke he says.
Anybody know what the main import/exports going thru the Squamish port are?
I guess I can do my own research.
“The type of cargo Squamish Terminals handles includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following:
Forest Products (e.g. Wood pulp, panel, lumber)
Steel Products (e.g. pipe, rebar, coil, h-beam, plate)
Special Project Cargo (e.g. yachts, trailers, windmill parts, turbines)”
Bad news all around except that wind turbines coming into Ontario may be slowed. No Problem, Ms Wynne will fly them in…money no object when party connected investors are involved.
Off that dock mainly pipe in, wood chips for pulp going out.
it was creosote soaked wood , maybe the mayor of Vancouver and Dr.Mengel Fruitfly can chime in.
Fire boat is spraying under the sheds of shipping materials. My buddy is there right now and says that this could have been a whole lot worse if those sheds had ignited. Excavator on shore ripping a deck up so the boat can spray under everything that is remaining.
Whatever happened, I’m sure it was all Stephen Harper’s fault.
This is going to hurt, they just lost 50% of their docking space, hopefully this gives incentive to rebuild with a larger more versatile dock
