  1. It appears the issue is that the Dippers sent out a begging letter in an envelope that mimics the ones used by Elections Canada. Do I have that right?
    Why can’t the twitter twit just say that? Is everyone on Twitter functionally illiterate?

  3. NDP must be getting a little low on cash; having to repay the looting of taxpayer dollars during the last election…
    Hence the recent appeal for more funding via government ‘look alike’ envelopes.

    Sources tell CTV News that the 68 NDP MPs have been ordered repayment by the end of the month.
    Last month, the Board of Internal Economy (BOIE), a secretive parliamentary committee responsible for overseeing parliamentary spending, ordered the 68 NDP MPs to repay a total of $2.75 million used to staff their party’s satellite offices in Montreal and Quebec City.
    The committee is asking the MPs to personally repay the money. It is not clear how the repayments will be handled if the NDP MPs don’t make them by March 31.
    But according to the BOIE bylaws, the board has the authority to request reimbursement from MPs. Section 20 says that after 90 days or more of owing, the House can take “additional means” to collect funds, while Section 21 allows the board to bring a civil action in court.
    Some NDP MPs owe around $1,000, while others face six-figure bills. For instance, Montreal MPs Alexandre Boulerice and Isabelle Morin will be asked to repay $120,000 and $170,000 respectively, while Leader Tom Mulcair and party whip Nycole Turmel owe more than $600,000 combined.

  4. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. If there is a deadline for payment and it passes without payment I wonder in the House committee can suspend the paycheques of the NDP members who are being ordered to pay (at least in fairness until the amount in question has been recovered).
    While this might not be overly adverse to the MPs who have been ordered to pay small amounts,this would have Mr Mulcaire and Ms Turmel in an unpaid status for at least a couple of years depending on how many committees they are on.
    The other option as I see it is to not pay them and bar them from the house and committee work and then lay criminal fraud charges against them. That may prompt some action on the payments.

  6. They really are insulting their voters by suggesting they don’t understand that correlation does not equal causation.
    How many NDP voters will think about what Ontario has done lately that might have caused the loss of manufacturing jobs? Things like tax increases, cancelled contracts, and green schemes that drive up everyone’s costs.
    Not many I guess because they believe those things are GOOD for Ontario (and the ROC) and are policies they support.
    Progressives really do treat people like idiots.

  8. We can’t see the stamp area on the envelope but I also wonder if you’re allowed to send out Party fund-raising letters mimicking “important election information” using free MP mailing instead of Party funds.

  17. Mad Tom might have to remortgage the family dwelling once again,which leaves me a bit confused.Is this stealing a dipper trait or a liberal trait introduced to the dippers by a liberal.
