Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Interesting poll on this page. Wildrose leading with NDP second. PC way in the back. Wouldn’t that be real karma for a certain ex wildrose leader if that’s actually how it finished up ?
Yes, and wouldn’t that be sweet. Couldn’t happen to a nicer person.
Oh my 4% NDP, Alberta has already turned to communism!
Pray for oil prices to drop below $30.00 so we can send these bums packing back to their socialist and third world sh*tholes.
If you were the smart conservative majority Albertan you saved during better times for opportunities like this. If not, it’s a good lesson for next time.
Knight 99 I didn’t have time to save lol. I was only in the industry for less than a year before things started to tumble, add to that a pos 2005 f-350 that cost me 23k in that same time frame for repairs lol .
I really got screwed and I am only 2 years from being mortgage free lol . Thought I was doing the right thing being smart and frugal but I was screwed anyway. Lol.
Sh!t happens!!
Prentice blew his moment. After weeks of sending out smoke signals, and even a deliberate provocation (look in the mirror) to get Albertans’ attention and brace themselves for some old time austerity, he unveils an all-too-familiar menu of nickel and dime revenue measures that screams an unseriousness about balancing the budget.
One can admire the Machiavellian aspect of pulling a bait and switch on the credulous Danielle Smith, but one is left with the suspicion that he is rather fond of the tactic, and no elector likes to think of themselves as a patsy.
Brian Jean strikes me as a bit of an oily customer, but he has at least displayed the good sense to come out swinging on the one issue that defines Wildrose, tax and spend, and capitalize on the air of urgency that Premier Prentice so helpfully provided before he dropped the writ.

“I am only 2 years from being mortgage free lol……”
You don’t sound very screwed to me.
Sell the “pos 2005 f-350” for something more economical, take on a subsistence job for a few months to a year, and when the oil patch returns to boom, set your own wages to make up for the lax year.
They’ll be tripping over any experience when that day returns as they’ve retired off the experience, Laid Off the semi-skilled, and scared off the miscreants.
Ride out the storm frugally, you’ll do fine.
Paul. Ya shoulda bought a used Duramax instead. Had my 06 since Feb 07 – 430,000km runs like a deere.
OK…so the PC Deal is this. Zero Cuts to the Public Service – that which takes likely 85% of revenue to service and make up the deficit with increases to my income tax, increases on my wine habit, increases on my cost of fuel, health premiums….???
Is that the Deal Mr Jim.??
No increase in royalty..?? Really – might interest you to know that those pulling bitumen outa the ground are still profitable today at a 45-50/bbl oil.
No cuts in Public service pay..?? Really.? I think they could do a 5% cut immediately…which would likely be way less than many of us who are fortunate enough to still have jobs in the Oil industry and totally less than the the tens of thousands that have lost their jobs.
The PC’s are the one who need to look in the mirror – YOU are the reason we are in the $hite today…no us.
This guy is sounding just like the Ontario LIBERALS.
Voting WR.
