What’s The Opposite of Diversity?

University.

For these and other “transgressions,” many are arguing that there should be mandatory educational programs – what others have called indoctrination – for all incoming students (or at least for fraternity members). But perhaps what is really needed is educational programs for college presidents, deans, and other administrators who either don’t understand or fully appreciate not only the legal protections offered to students under the First Amendment, but also that academic freedom obviously includes the right to articulate ideas which are very unpopular with the majority views at a university.

  1. No, no, no…you cannot have free speech without stifling free speech. Any cognitive dissonance here?

  2. By the college president’s standard, virtually any and all online dating sites would be guilty of hate speech since they allow expression of various preferences including ethnicity in potential matches. Have these idiots no experience with the real world?

  3. We need to reexamine the function/need for higher education. And the cost we are willing to pay therefor. Offhand, I would say a 50% cut in funding coupled with a severe pruning of course options would be a good start.

  4. Freedom of speech, freedom of association and freedom on conscience are considered fundamental freedoms everywhere in the civilized world. But a bunch of guys can’t get together with their friends and think and say what they want.

  5. “Freedom of speech, freedom of association and freedom on conscience are considered fundamental freedoms everywhere in the civilized world. ,,,”
Yes. That’s what they are trying to fix.

  6. We need a government willing to liberate the accreditation process.

  7. Why does Apple’s 1984 ad for the Macintosh suddenly come to mind?
    “… a garden of pure ideology …”

  8. Back in the day they used ta burn heretics to save their immortal souls…..
At least that’s what they said…..

  9. I’ve run into this kind of thing before. These people are bullies. And like the kind we all faced in school, they all put up a blustery front until you get up in their face and start pushing back.
The harder you push, the faster they backpedal. In fact, I bet there’s money to be made for some enterprising young lawyers to go around and bring lawsuits against all these schools for their illegal policies. Just the threat of doing that would get them to settle out of court like a shot. Get a new complainant every year, new settlement every year.
I would wager there’s more money floating around in Big Education than there is in Big Tobacco. Some food for thought there, you Americans.

  10. These kids and their behaviour remind me of a book I read so many years ago called, “Lord of the Flies”, or in other words organized bullies.

  11. Some (not all) senior University administrators are scum. Interestingly, Boards of Regents/Governors can’t tell the difference, seemingly, between a good one and a scummy one. All the worse when they are chosen entirely on the basis of gender.

  12. Some college professors, deans and senior administrators act much like our politicians in that they react to the rabble making the most noise. Others encourage acting out the mindset they themselves support, feeling safe in the warm arms of tenure. A few lawsuits backed by the first amendment would go a long way in resolving this problem. Guess they just haven’t angered the right people yet, but it will come. Can’t come soon enough.

  13. when i went to high school back in the 70’s there was a copy of the U.S. Constitution on the wall with VOID WHERE PROPHBITED stamped in red

  14. You don’t understand.
One must be free in thought and speech in order to be able to advocate restrictions on thought and speech.
    (Let ’em solve THAT one!)

  15. Criminal Code of Canada
    318. (1) Every one who advocates or promotes genocide is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years.
    319. (1) Every one who, by communicating statements in any public place, incites hatred against any identifiable group where such incitement is likely to lead to a breach of the peace is guilty of
    (a) an indictable offence and is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years; or
    (b) an offence punishable on summary conviction.
Even in politically correct Canada, it is not illegal to say anything in private as long as it doesn’t relate to advocating or promoting genocide. We have any absolute constitutional right to hate in private. But then so do the Americans. That is what is stupid about this case. Apparently it is a grave crime for young guys to get pissed and make crude jokes about women or minorities. Not really. These guys and the Canadian dental students should sue.

  17. I am speechless, aghast and filled with disgust at these foul pits that seem to consider themselves to pass for universities today. They are the very definition of a fraud. They are in opposition to all learning. They are a dark spot on Western culture. A blight upon humankind. Beyond abysmal.

  18. Liberal eletists seem to their their mentaly superior to everybody else when in fact their IQ is below a ant or flea
