42 Replies to “Toronto #C51Protest: First They Came For The Garlic”

  1. I’m certain that none of those interviewed were against Bill C-68 when it was introduced. I’m certain that none of them would have been affected by Bill C-68. That is why I sleep well at night.

  2. A varied cross-section of Canadians from the self-styled intelligentsia to the moon-bat maroons. They don’t know why the protest was formed or why they showed up for it much less have an opinion about the Bill, and the best part is they all vote and want to tell the rest of us how to live our lives. Not one of them understand the purpose of government which is to protect, preserve, and propagate the society that formed it. Protection of a society is the fundamental reason for forming a government, for without that protection you cannot assemble in a demonstration in which you know absolutely nothing about.

  3. Ah, now I see; the problem is conservatives are uneducated and have small minds.
At least that’s what the steadfast tin soldier said.

  4. One of them said that Harper calling “radicals” people who behead innocent people ( ISIS ) makes Harper about as bad as Hitler.
    wow. just. wow.
I am scared such people are allowed to walk freely outside of a padded cell, are allowed to vote, drive cars, take care of children, or become teachers.
The people interviewed in the video above have lost contact with reality, they should be in padded cells.
They are mentally deranged. This is not an insult, it is a diagnosis.

  5. I don’t protest because I have a job. These people obviously don’t have jobs because their friggin idiots. Shite shovel is way over their heads.

  6. “Stop hey what’s that sound?…its the mindless gathering ’round”.
There fixed that for you Stephen Stills!
You’d think by now that I’d be immune to this stuff: however I am still gobsmacked be what passes for reasoned thought in this day and age.
    We are doomed!

  7. This is instructive.
Most, if not all of the people that were interviewed showed willful ignorance of the facts of life.
It is this kind of crowd that spend their useless days masturbating each other’s brain to see who can come up with better bullshit. They get so wrapped up in it that it becomes matter of fact for them.
    The ignorance is stunning.
The young men, as it appears, have no idea why are they there. Most can’t answer simple questions.
The woman with red sign seem to be interested in smoking weed, as if that was the argument.
The only thing that can be done is to talk on individual bases and by questioning them, they may eventually snap out of it. Understand that it is a most difficult task, though there is no alternative.
Brainwashing is an insidious technique that LIV succumb to. It is a kind of nonsense that can be seen from religion to “social justice”, to AWG, to politics of envy.

  8. A very serious rally, understandably, the communists sent their best and brightest.

  9. My complaint is not with the moonbats. They are who they are, plainly delusional, unemployed (probably due to the aforementioned) easily gulled, led and used. My complaint is with the professional union agitators funded with coerced contributions from hard-working citizens who use the moonbats contrary to the best interests of those from whom they derive the funding, and the taxpayer funded media who give them any credibility without doing the due diligence appropriate to demonstrating what a pathetic collection of fruitcakes they actually are.

  10. Oh wow! Love it! The woman with the guitar is retread `60s. And the beards! You could almost see the fleas jumping out of them. As for the better-looking of them, it is nice to know that Hillary hasn’t cornered the market on babbling bimbos and bleating barbies.

  11. …and if Conservatives are uneducated and have small minds then these brief interviews are proof that lefties don’t even have functioning minds.
The biggest problem is that the MSM will present these idiots as the voice of average Canadians and in doing so, influence the opinions of Canadians who are too busy earning a living and taking care of a family to pay close attention to what is really going on.

  12. Have you all made your contributuions to therebel.media?
I did, just waiting on my income taxes to come in then i will make another donation and sign up for a $20/mo recurring contibution.
And i was just layed off from the oil fields in alberta. i officially have no income. Whats your excuse?
I am going to sell my property and i have a tax return to sustain me for a couple months before i ask for the hand out(EI) if i don’t find work by then. It’s going to get bad in alberta for the next 2-3 years.

  13. My favourite really stupid line:
“Things like unlawful peaceful protest will become illegal.” (1:17)
    Duh.
I saw someone carrying a DON’T TREAD ON ME flag. Confused or what? That’s from the American Revolution and has no cultural relevance at all here in Canada.
“But I’m not here to talk to the elites of this country; I’m here to talk to the regular folks.” Yes, no folks are more “regular” than dweebs in faux War-of-1812 British uniforms (0:53) or communist party members.*
I tell you, by closing down all those psychiatric facilities, the Ontario government still has a lot to answer for.
    * Regarding communists, I ignore them on principle and I usually ignore any demonstration they show up to parasitically exploit.

  14. The “Don’t tread on me” means nothing in Canada. However, when we were down in Pennsylvania about four years ago, my wife purchased a t-shirt with the “don’t tread on me” logo. Her conservative friends advised her not to wear it, to avoid unpleasantness.

  15. Yes, great soundtrack. Loved the interviewer, very calm, very logical. Reminded me of Blazing Saddles – You (Marissa) are so talented, and they are so dumb.

  16. Notice the meme was Hitler, Hitler, Hitler. Harper, Harper, Harper.
    Mass murderer Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov,
    mass murderer Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili,
greatest mass murderer of them all Mao Zedong, not so much.

  17. John Lewis “The “Don’t tread on me” means nothing in Canada. However, when we were down in Pennsylvania about four years ago, my wife purchased a t-shirt with the “don’t tread on me” logo.”
My daughter brought back an I Love Intercourse, Pennsylvania t-shirt, Pennsylvania being in a tiny font. Damn kid, although she does vote Conservative.

  18. It was so humorous I watched it again and noticed I misquoted the perceptive guy.
    His quote was actually:
‘I’m not so much an idea man’
Rather than the QOTD award he should get a life time achievement award in the category:
    Most affective use of understatement.

  19. Why all the angst about the C51? It was a damn fine chainsaw in its day, one of Homelite’s best sellers, too. Little bigger than the homeowner saw, the XL-12, but not a professional woodsman’s saw either. It filled a niche, and it filled it well. Wish I had one.

  20. “everything I know comes from news coverage by the CBC”
Hey there’s a good reason to defund the Corpse …. now.

  21. People “worried” about C-51 should read the Official Secrets Act; and then have a listen to Pierre Trudeau’s remark at the time of the Quebec Crisis, that he would do anything necessary to preserve the central power of Canada.
The Official Secrets Act by 1983 had been ruled unconstitutional but I do remember swearing to be bound by it. It is draconian to put it mildly. Anyone in the vicinity of a “prohibited place”, for example, is guilty of at least a misdemeanour. Anyone who knows of a violation but does’t report it is guilty of an offence. And so it goes. The Act lived and breathed Reverse Onus.
There were a few abuses of it, not very many.
The present Security of Information Act (RSC 1985) is a tough piece of legislation too – in places it comes close to reverse onus.

  22. “The young men, as it appears, have no idea why are they there.”
The young men are there to hook up with some strange. They know these hippie chicks are mostly about pro-abortion and they know these bimpties are dumb and loose.
Politics is about getting what you want and they want some hippie chick to give it up to them.
The hippy chicks just want to feeel, man.
    Mission accomplished.
p.s. The Left’s default state is malcontent.
The young men are seeking temporary contentment. They are all unable to envision what it takes to reach a stable state of contentment and invest in the future.
    The Marshmallow Experiment
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_marshmallow_experiment
Only 1 in 3 people have the ability to delay gratification and reap the great reward. What does that mean in concrete political terms? It means the Left wins by promising and delivering the “Robbing Peter to pay Paul” gambit until either there is no Peter(they’ve all become Pauls) or everything collapses because of the inability to borrow more money.(Peter never could pay for it all, the borrowing is based on the lie that Peter can, but he can’t)
Only cure is either to ‘Let it Burn’ and start from scatch or to only allow people with skin in the game(Peters) to vote.

  23. Someone correct me, but was it Lincoln that said “It is better to be silent and thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt”.

  24. You quoted Mark Twain.
These are people who showed up to take part in a public protest.
I’m thinking that they and Silence are not acquainted.

  25. What a disgusting collection of communists, anarchists, and misinformed malcontents, and all being made use of by leftist politicians. The only ones there who knew what they were doing were the communists and the Socialist Worker Party.

  26. How many of you have read C-51? I have to ask, because when I did, I was quite horrified by some of the directions being taken and the possibilities they open up for government control of the internet, not just by this present government, but perhaps of more concern, any future Liberal government. I think people will see this legislation in a much different way before too long.
So read it and see if you think it is constitutional. I find that it trumps up the current situation, which is far from being a life or death emergency, and sneaks in all sorts of powers for the state that any true conservative should oppose on first principle. These Islamists could have been watched quite effectively within existing laws and procedures. What the government really desires would appear to be unlimited powers that can be used in any political context. And that won’t just magically end if this particular government falls in an election.
It is rather like cheering because the government proposes to create its own little Stasi and turn this into a somewhat more prosperous version of East Germany. Some of you should know better than that. I must admit, I don’t get why the commies are opposed to it. They more or less inspired most of it.

  27. I wonder what protest turnout is like when they don’t dangle the “they are going to crack down on drugs” carrot to the bleating sheep. I’m thinking low.
