I am also beginning to admire PM Abbot, he is more of an in-your-face Libertarian than a conservative – much like Nigel Farage. Harper could learn from these examples how a principled statesman NEVER apologises for principle.

Not just boats STOP all welfare and social assistance to illegal’s and legal immigrants unless having lived in the country for a minimum of 5 years. You will see a dramatic reduction in the squatters.
Double prison sentences for all non citizens and recent immigrants who have not lived in the country for 5 years.

What I find most disturbing is the effect – now and looking forward – of the boat people from Africa crossing into Europe – most notably Italy. Unskilled, unschooled societal cripples landing in Europe and the European parliament has no stomach for turning them back. I have seen the economic and social effects of these ‘refugees’ first hand in Italy, Spain and southern Portugal. Not something I would wish on anybody.
We need more Tony Abbots in this world. And yes, Mr. Harper could take a lesson or two.
