On Friday, March 6, 2015, RCMP officers executed a search warrant at the Head Office of the OPP Association in Barrie, Ontario. The RCMP is conducting a criminal investigation and believed that evidence to support its investigation could be found in the OPP Association Head Office as well as the offices of President Christie, Vice President Bain and CAO Walsh.

Gee. Too bad the spokesman didn’t know what section of the Criminal Code this investigation concerned, eh? 😉
“The Association is in the process of obtaining specialized independent legal advice with respect to this matter”
Jamie,
That seems to suggest it’s outside the scope of normal legal advice.
That would be the OPP Association that endorsed the currently un-indicted Premier of Ontario last election.
RCMP? – they must have been asked to investigate instead of the OPP. They are a bit out of their jurisdiction.
Hummmmmm…one corrupt group of foxes investigating a nother group
of corrupt foxes. And only the chicken taxpayers get fleeced. Nothing to see here.
I smell pension fund fraud, I doubt the feds give a squat about Wynn’s pile of dirty laundry.
Buy popcorn.
“Jamie,

Nope, doesn’t work like that. They (OPPA) were just as free to tell the public what the nature of the investigation was, as they were to tell us that a search warrant had been executed.
There can be only one reason for their silence: they (OPPA) are too embarrassed to admit what the investigation is about. However, a journalist with an once of curiosity would have called the RCMP to get that answer.
Say, Jamie, you’re a very-much respected member of this particular establishment, and a former member of law enforcement, by your own account (no one doubts it).
Could you please explain, in as much detail as you possibly can, the circumstances under which the RCMP could obtain a search warrant against the OPPA.
Educate, please.
Interesting, cops investigating cops. If they are serious about it, then it means cops stole from other cops (pension fund fraud, as mentioned above, seems a likely candidate). If they are not serious then it is just like every other case when cops investigate cops and find nothing, while victims of their abuses are left to pick up the pieces.
David, I agree. Hello Jamie, wherefore art thou.
I suspect that it is either as CaligulaJones suggests or a fraud of some sort. When there are possible illegal activities in a local police force in Saskatchewan the RCMP are called in to investigate. Just a hunch, but in the case of the OPP the only senior police force is the RCMP.
Hoping Ezra or Brian will be ‘investigating’ this…
CANADIANS,
Never forget Alberta Martial Law 2013!
RCMP forcibly and without warrant broke into law abiding taxpayer citizens homes in their hour of distress and subsequently destroyed and stole their personal property, without provocation!
Never forget.
CANADIANS,
Never forget Caledonia occupation
OPP have chosen not to enforce a biding court order because their librano masters seen it as inconvenient. A band of “native” terrorists run amok on private property and OPP were busy making sure none interrupts said “native” terrorists.
Never forget.

and to KenK…
Well, any police force could
get a warrant to search anywhere on a matter that is their responsibility to investigate. There is no sacred ground, so to speak. However, there are lots and lots of situations where police agency A, even though it could go and apply for a warrant itself, simply passes all the info over to police agency B, that has territorial jurisdiction where the warrant is going to be executed. There may be established protocol in place that dictates the process, or, it may simply be decided on the basis of what is the easiest and cheapest way to get the warrant and to execute it.
Having said that, the RCMP might be involved in this case for a couple of reasons. First of all, it might be “their” investigation. In other words, a matter that landed in their lap because it was a federal matter…income tax stuff, for example. Secondly, it might be related to a matter that occurred in a territorial jurisdiction that they have the responsibility to police; something in Manitoba for example. Third, it could be a matter that was referred to them by the OPP itself. It is not unusual for police forces to call in another agency to do an investigation if the matter is an internal issue involving force members. That is usually done for two reasons: (a) so the members being investigated have less grounds for complaint that the investigation was a witch-hunt, and (b) to give the press less grounds to complain that the results of the investigation were whitewashed.
The telling part here is that 3 association members have been relieved of their duties.
I dream of a day when Kathleen and Dalton are perp walked from their homes in handcuffs. The OPP could never do it, but the RCMP could. The OPP is crooked to the core, one word “Caledonia ” should be enough for a complete dismantling of the organization.
BTW. This Karl Walsh – the guy who “has been placed on administrative leave” – is the same Karl Walsh who ran as a Liberal candidate a few years back. He would have had a lot to do with the huge “donation” that the OPPA gave to Wynnebag’s Liberals in the last election.
Thanks, Jamie: that’s excellent.
