  3. I have never considered bombardier to be a good investment – so political are its activities – but i didn’t realize that it had collapsed as badly as it has:

    A failure of bombardier would be a big blow to the ego of the Quebec business community and the province as a whole – especially after the corruption scandals.

  5. I can offer no critique of last night’s “musical” selection – my dogs loved it! They stampeded into the room to see the source of the racket close up and the male had his head cocked in interest of what he was sure were howling b!tches in heat (he only got two parts of that right).

  9. A black bear is seen stumbling in a field. Oh my, it falls down. It is in bad shape. What to do ???
    I’d grab a rifle and put it back into the food chain quickly and efficiently.
    BUT, if I could make a dollar off of it, say if I ran a charity that was supported by the taxpayer, well, total different story. That bear must be saved.
    Who knows, that bear may be the next Beethoven !

  10. Bombardier was deep into the LPC. Any surprise they are on the skids, with the LPC so far away from power? They were totally dependent on Fiberal largesse

  11. Bombardier took a really big hit after 9/11 when the stock halved in value. It has never really recovered from that without Chretien around to funnel money to it.

I remember, lo these many years ago, when Bombardier shares were over $30 and people I knew on Bay Street kept telling me I should own some, as it was a solid blue chip and should be a cornerstone of my portfolio. I demurred, saying, if they’re so great, how come they need a steady stream of big fat government subsidies in order to keep the lights on? Now the stock is $3 and the company still doesn’t know how to turn a profit. Oddly, I no longer hear anyone telling me to buy the stock now that it is so cheap. Stay away from subsidy miners (auto companies, for instance)and stick with real companies that make real profits. Mind you, with Shiny Pony bleating about the “infrastructure deficit”, can Japanese-style “bullet trains to nowhere” be that far off, assuming the grits win the election? That could renew Bomber’s fortunes quickly with a new river of subsidies.
