Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Two “s” on Baroness – danged background as a proofreader (and, yes, I skipped an apostrophe s to keep things simple). A well delivered argument to an almost empty chamber.

Iran: Ex-president Ahmadinejad launches website ahead of polls
In a move that some see as a possible return to politics, Iran’s former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad launched his official website on Sunday (1 February), ahead of next year’s legislative elections.
Including the website, Ahmadinejad.ir, a Google+ page and an Instagram account were also launched for Ahmadinejad.
Ahmadinejad is seen flashing a giant smile on his website with a slogan reading: “We will come soon.”
I’m sure they will…

You beat me to it, usually they are addressed as “Lady”.
Excellent speech!
Baroness Deech was born Ruth Fraenkel. Her father fled both Vienna and Prague to escape the Nazis.
Some of his family didn’t make it.
You mean she’s Jewish? She spoke well and said things that should be said. I was enjoying it a bit more when I thought a Peer who isn’t Jewish was saying them.
I wonder if she would be allowed to deliver that speech (accurate but quite bland actually and what would have been considered mainstream thinking 40 years ago) at a Canadian university. I suspect that outside the protected speech of Parliament, she could be charged with hate speech by some multi-culti-dhimmi Council apparatchik for that same speech in public.
So were it not that a lot of Jews live there – Israel wouldn’t be a problem at all? OK – now I understand it fully.
