Local people living close by reported hearing the turbine produce increasingly loud noise from 4.30pm on Friday, culminating in a huge bang heard right across the area.
One local person described the noise as ‘frightening at the end’, while another man compared the sound to a bomb exploding.

These magnificent machines are flawless.
It is the endless assaults upon their airfoils by those evil birds, that cause them to fail.
Each kamikaze feathered feind, causes accumulative shaft imbalance causing those flawless bearings to seize up.

Probably not,.22 is slow,soft and light, but if some big game hunter was to hit one of those blades with a 180 grain Barnes solid bullet travelling at 2800 FPS, hmmmmm.
Thankfully, all hunters are decent law abiding folks and would never deliberately take a shot at one of those planet saving devices.
Accidents DO happen,though, so I suggest all hunters be extra careful around windmills.
The blades are made from fiberglass to reduce weight and the blade structure is honeycombed for strength but when things go wrong, even with a little wind and resultant movement, the torque is enough to tear them apart.
Or maybe, just maybe, the consumer was sold a defective product. There are thousands of these inefficient bird shredders that may have a rather short life span. Gee, I wonder who is going to pay for replacements ? Will they even bother ? To think how much money could have been saved by building a conventional power plant. Boggles the mind.
