This, to me, is good news for PMSH. If the NDP can only go up from where they are it will be at the expense of the Liberals.

I get it that Manitoba is a have not province and getting regular handouts becomes addicting. I do scratch my head on how Manitobans can rationalize what is going on in Saskatchewan compared to their situation.

It is indeed difficult to understand Manitobans, however this type of thinking is not limited to Manitoba. When the Sask Party took over and we subsequently lost our place at the equalization trough, more than a few Saskatchewanians were upset with Stephen Harper for cutting off our welfare payments and Brad Wall for putting us in a position to warrant such a move. In the socialist mindset, why pay your own way when Ottawa is only too happy to dish out the largesse.

We are brilliant strategists in the race, first we enacted the carbon tax, now up to 8 cents/liter,and the government is considering a .5 percent increase in the sales tax to help pay for transit in the lower mainland.
Prentice may match us with a carbon tax next Summer, but until then we are in the lead!
Unfortunately the NDP will not be annihilated, some of them will be elected. Sad and Bad, but there it is.

I guess it just goes to show that while you can’t fool all the people all the time, about a quarter of them you can fool -every- time.

Luckily her upcoming 2015 tax hike is sure to p1ss-off the other three quarters of Moronto voters, that’s about how many pay for their own food, gas and electricity.

I agree with you. There are still many in the province firm in their belief that Sask should not be prosperous, should not be into oil or fracking. The great popularity of Brad Wall may remain only as long as the province is booming then you’ll hear those who have been fairly silent up too now howling about how the Wall government have dragged us into hell and they knew all along it would happen. Personally I’m so proud of my province for having finally gotten off the national gravy train. It’s long past time that the equalization program got a serious review but I suspect no provincial or federal government will have the courage to take that bold step.
Speaking as a lifelong ‘Toban of nearly 60 years I would point out the separation between Winnipeg and RoM (rest of Manitoba). Historically, the NDP has never had a power base outside the city and every election in the past 40 years was decided by the city as more than half of the provincial population resides there. Winnipeg is dotted with public housing units crammed full of loyal NDP supporters.
Since coming to power in 1999, Selinger as finance minister and then premier has been an enthusiastic supporter of deficit spending because unfortunately federal transfer payments “only” cover 40% of provincial revenues.
I don’t know if Pallister and the PCs can salvage things, given the sharp run up of the provincial debt and resistance to higher taxes. On the other hand all I can say is look at Saskatchewan with Brad Wall and look at Saskatchewan without him.
