That “12 year old” was shot because he pulled a ‘gun’ on cops when told to put up his hands, after wandering around a public park pulling the ‘gun’ and brandishing it at people. The ‘gun’ turned out to be a replica that had been modified to look more real. Get your damn facts straight.

imagine the potential civil liability here. kid, in effect, steals a firearm. that’s a felony… (n.b. court usually doesn’t care why you did the crime.)
looking to impress friends (before turning it over to third party who is also not legally entitled to possess firearms), shows it around… and loses possession to a bigger kid. heck, maybe he shoots the kid who is threatening him. in any case, if someone dies during commission of a felony… that’s a death penalty offense in some states.
even if junior takes said firearm straight to teacher… there is potential, all along the daisy chain for someone to get injured or killed. even if nothing goes wrong, teacher is now in possession of stolen property, possession of weapons dangerous to public peace.
meanwhile, dad gets nailed for unsafe storage violations. that’ll improve the family dynamics, no doubt.

Bull. Did you even watch the video? Literally within 2 seconds of the cop car arriving, the kid was shot. You cannot tell me that within that time frame, they pulled up, got out, spoke a command to raise hands, evaluated that this kid was not complying and/or a lethal threat. Gangbangers doing a drive-by wish they could kill that fast.
Just as bad as the people trying to make a martyr of Michael Brown and celebrate the New York executions, are the people who refuse to hold reckless cops to account when they abuse their authority or resort to lethal force while screaming “Look out Ned he’s coming right for us!”
