The newly-elected biggest, baddest, Chief Big Screen TV of them all;
“Canada will no longer develop pipelines, no longer develop transmission lines, or any infrastructure, on our lands as business as usual. That is not on.”
‘Canada is Indian land. This is my truth and this is the truth of our peoples’

Dear natives: Become productive members of society.
Sincerely,
Canada
Interesting….this fella insists on dialog…with unacceptable, non-negotiable conditions….
Sorta like some other folk who declare:
NO RECOGNITION….NO NEGOTIATION…NO PEACE…..
It may be your truth, but it ain’t the truth mate.
I have always said it’s all about the money, nothing else. They don’t give a rats ass about the environment. The environment is just a tool to squeeze more cash from govt and guilty whitey. Al least he is upfront with his agenda.
Oh man, this guy makes me sort of miss Phil Fontaine.
Follow in lock step with someone controling their minds kind of like the George Pal version of THE TIME MACHINE when the Morlock fire off their big sirens that sound like those WW II airaid sirens the eloi march right into the base of a idol wher they end up as the morlocks din din SOMEBODY WAKE UP PLEASE
Damn right! Canada should be returned to wilderness, with no human presence whatsoever. Think of the carbon reduction! Anglos back to Europe. Blacks back to Africa. Asians back to Asia. BTW, First Nationers are Asians, too. So long, guys. Don’t let the zamboni hit you on the way out.
As an interim measure, all electrical transmission lines, pipelines and infrastructure going into Indian reserves will be removed.
Of course my comment regarding squandered money from unwarranted means didn’t pass the “PC” police.
They want a to live a native lifestyle we can always let them. No native allowed off the reserves. No one goes in or out. Live off the land and whatever you can make on that land. No white person will interfere. Of course you no longer get the benefits of Canadian society either.
Joel, I apolgoize – I think I accidentally nuked your comment instead of approving it.
“vowed to extract a greater share for his people — in jobs, cash or both.”
I would imagine that choice #2 wins hands down with choice #1 running a distant third.
As witnessed time and time again, the extraction of cash only serves to benefit chief and council while the rank and file reserve dweller lives in poverty. It is a terminally ill system which can only be made better by the election of responsible, honest and dedicated individuals to positions of power on each reserve. Easier said than done. Voting “correctly” brings the promise of a limited share of the largesse whereas voting for the best candidate will result in ostracization.
Oh yeah? Well how about MY treaty rights? Like not being hindered, obstructed etc!
No Kate it wasn’t here, it was on the NP comments. Maybe I should have specified, sorry. All is good here
Dear “First Nations”:
You aren’t the law. Live up to your treaties or you will be forced to.
Strong message to follow
That is all.
First Nations missed the mark, by electing Perry BELLEGARDE.
Osoyoos BC First Nations Band Chief Clarence Louie, the most enlightened of ALL CANADIAN FIRST NATIONS BANDS CHIEFS, is the only ONE to ever bring SANITY to the quagmire Into which BELLEGARDE is leading the current UNENLIGHTENED FIRST NATIONS Bands’ parade!
I understand that the Crown as represented by the provinces have treaty obligations which see money transferred to the various treaty signatories, but there is no obligation on the part of the provinces or the federal government to fund the Assembly of First Nations.
Cut it.
Stayed a half hour after closing time last night with a visibly dirty and scarred up Indian lady high on some substance. She was using my phone, calling for friends to pick her up. At some point she walked out the door which was immediately locked coincidentally as the lights were being switched off. On the politically correct meter, is the credit for helping more than the deficit for locking the door. I guess I must be a blatant racist.
Go build a Teepee, give up all white mans trappings and be one with your ancestors, then maybe someone might listen.
Canada’s future rulers, the Chinese, Sheikh, and Islamists will give them an attitude adjustment that you can take to the bank!
Hollywood liberal hypotcrits urging us to live in harmony with nature while they still live their luxeroius lifestyles just like hollyweed director James Cameron producer of that crap movie AVATAR DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO liberal eletists
The speaker looks like an Indian, dresses like an Indian, might even have some Indian blood in him, but the words flowing out of his mouth are the words of white lawyers and pimps, white guilt-ridden progressive urbans, and those Indian Industry rent seekers pimping off the reverse apartheid they are helping to create.
This professional parasite is telling Canadians (paying for the speaking venue) that his race makes him slave master to all other races in Canada and his race will continue not only living off the work of others but flourish in doing so. Claiming ownership by Indians when their language had no word for “ownership” nor concept of it is icing on the cake. Our taxpayer fed politicians, bureaucrats and academics have created these expectations from their misguided sense of justice and guilt.
Many people with varying degrees of Indian blood do indeed have productive lives. Hopefully they don’t get thrown in with these “professional” Indians.
Maybe we should call him on this and say OK, and stick to his definition…”Canada will no longer develop pipelines, no longer develop transmission lines, or any infrastructure, on our lands..” Under his definition, this would include any pipeline, water and sewage; transmission lines includes any sort of electrical services and infrastructure includes any sort of building, house, hockey rink, town hall, fire station or school, road, airport or wharf. I could live with that, not so sure he could.
Indians like to call themselves a proud people but their actions do not fit that description.
They’re not living off the land, they’re shameless bums/beggars, bumming off the people who work and pay taxes so they can spit in our faces and blame us for all their problems.
There’s only one way to stop it, toss the treaties, stop being made slum landlords by supporting the reserve system, building homes and pouring money into them while they trash them. If they were wearing buckskin, feathers and living in Tepees they wouldn’t last too long. They wouldn’t be around today if it were not for the developments of the white man.
The Indians lost, the Europeans won. Shit happens. Get on with your lives, stop complaining.
I guess now we can expect the blackmail to ramp up,successfully,as Canadian politicians are ALL more interested in protecting their fabulous pensions than ending the apartheid system that has resulted in the latest gangster chief’s ravings.
Bellegarde and his fellow racist followers would starve to death without the Other Canadians who pay for every service the Rez Indians get. The myth of the noble Indian environmentalist living at one with nature is laughable, most of them don’t even bother to hunt anymore.
We currently pis* away about 10 billion a year on Indians, and I guess now we’ll see contracts negotiated whereby Chiefs will get big royalties from all development of “Native Land”. Think how much better the situation will get for a FEW Natives with another 10 or so billion a year from resource extraction blackmail.
And the Chiefs will continue to get richer while the rest of the Rez doesn’t.
This BS will only stop when Asian and ME immigrants have a majority in this Country.
When Europeans arrived in the Americas we found a large conglomeration of stone age tribes that were literally using awesome easy to access natural resources as nothing but body paint. Their life style was purely Hobbesian, and we lifted them up with our teachings. The whole concept of being “one with nature” is a load of bull shit. They were a nomadic people because they would deplete areas and have to move on to better areas to survive. Sure they taught us how to use the natural resources that were at hand, we then took that and made the natural resources better. Maize anyone? Pumpkins?
That we treat them as a nation and pay them for exploiting natural resources says more about us then it does about them. We didn’t come as immigrants, we came as conquerors. We won and they are still bitching about it even when we are paying them off. All my experiences with native peoples has left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.
As someone else observed, we take back the wheel
PaladinPhil >
“All my experiences with native peoples has left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.”
Not all my experiences, I’ve met some pretty down to earth hard working Indians in my lifetime, others not so much.
The issue here is the race baiting grievance mongers, the “Canadian Al Sharpton’s” along with the white Liberal Left establishment that supports and enables them.
Makes David Dingwall look cheap…
There’s a 1970s book called ‘Battle River Country’ that describes the life of the natives of Alberta, the historian who wrote it got the Order of Canada for his books recording Canadian history. He described a state of constant hatred and genocidal warfare lasting thousands of years, quite horrible. In his words, every hill, every coulee, on the western prairie was at least once soaked with blood. The first 19th century census of Alberta natives came up with less than four thousand people. The Indians of the west coast and eastern Canada were not much different. There is also mention of one of the first Europeans on the prairie, travelling with natives, coming across a small herd of buffalo in a dip in the prairie. The natives killed them all, cut out the tongues to carry as food, leaving the rest to rot.
What would be cheaper and/or easier: challenging aboriginal land claims in court, ridding Canada of the Indian Act or circumventing all technologies/developments and further ghettoizing reservations so as to keep greedy, racist b@$#@rds like Bellegarde out-of-the-loop?
Successful reservations/aboriginals need to step it up and publicly confront people like Bellegarde. People like Bellegarde are greedy SOBs, akin to Saudi oil barons, who think the Earth belongs to them and their kind and couldn’t care if other people benefitted from progress.
I want to say it but I won’t…it would involve firearms.
No pipelines, no transmission lines, no infrastructure. How about no cheques?
Like most social ‘problems’, the Indians (as long as there is an Indian Act I’m calling them Indians)could be dealt with in a simple way. Stop all funding and when they protest or commit acts of what would essentially be terrorism in response, you arrest and prosecute or if necessary shoot them in the act if said act is serious enough.
It’s all so simple, but the leftist, white-man’s guilt floggers would never even consider it. And whether it’s here in Ontario with a Lib majority or the federal CPC majority, they’re all the same. No government in this country would dare act on anything that makes simple sense and is cost efficient.
WHATTTT????? No Cheques? This means war. We’ll contact the UN, the World Court, someone.
One of my best employees once shocked myself and a customer when he said, while reading a newspaper article regarding a native blockade: “Damn wagon burners should just get jobs.” The customer questioned him on it. To which he replied; “I’m one of them. They should just get jobs.” He was really disgusted with the reserve indians. os whatever they are called these days.
I’m not too worried about any Indian Chief. A briefcase filled with fresh $100s can buy a lot of pipeline or other right of way! Too bad about the rest of the tribe that has to settle for a weekend’s supply of Molson’s.
Been a while since I saw a Plover. Nice to see you still around.
Thus sayeth the chief cockroach.
I do agree though, no pipelines, no roads, no power lines … to reserves.
This ties in rather nicely with Bob Rae’s new career choice.
So who is the tail and who the dog?
Who loves to blackmail taxpayers most?
Bellegarde is saying ALL of Canada is Indian land. He says they only agreed to SHARE the land – so they still own Canada & whitey is only a minority shareholder. Watch for all the road blocks & civil disobedience on future products. RCMP have not been a big help so far!
First nations culture is like a guinea pig, neither a pig nor from guinea.
We need to finish the conquest and then treat each subsequent temper tantrum as treason and punish accordingly. That is what every culture with the exception of self flagellating white guilt culture would have done. Perhaps, for once, we should see some value in multiculturalism and apply the worldly norms in a worldly manners.
no money no power. we give the Indians power because we give them our money and they use it against us. cut off every cent and see how quick things will change.
Dear Indians, You lost a long time ago, this is not your land.

Letter from John Ferguson to William Claus, Deputy Superintendent General, Indian Affairs, 5 March 1819, concerning threats made by Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte to passers-by; the influence of white lumbermen over the Mohawks; lineage (in relation to a General Order on 2 November 1818 that presents should not be given to the descendants of Europeans):
“Will not a difficulty arise, as to who these people are?
In the Mohawk village here, a large proportion are the
immediate (perhaps the second generation) descendants
of Germans; there is also a family of immediate
descendants of Africans: Are they to be considered as
Indians? There are also some descendants of
Americans, whose ancestors were Europeans. Will they
come within the intention of the Order? In fact there are
but few real Indians amongst them.”

Hey Mr. Bellledisregarde, it occurs to me that you and your people would at this point in time be still living in teepees (w/o the bigscreens) and chasing buffalo ON FOOT! – (that would be in yer fricken’ mocassins) and quarreling with various wildlife with stone knives and lighting fires without lighters or matches had the Europeans not shown up to present you with some of the conveniences that you take for granted. Yeah some of the conveniences have evolved over the past 5+ centuries but really where would you be, A’hole? Realistically speaking, where would you be today? Think about it and get back to me/us!
