Y2Kyoto: Demoting Science To Its Rightful Place

Soylent green is SCIENTISTS!!!

Up until May this year, Professor -Glover had seemed an ideal fit for [chief scientific adviser to the President of the European Commission]. Most importantly — as Alex Salmond’s former chief scientist — she held the ‘correct’ views on climate change, even to the point of suggesting that global warming might lengthen the hours of daylight in Scotland.
But then she made the fatal mistake of being rather too outspoken and independent in a speech to Eurochambres, the Association of the European Chambers of Commerce and Industry, on the subject of the manipulation of science for political ends sometimes known as ‘policy-based evidence-making’.
One of the worst examples, she noted, was the EU’s ‘Reach’ regulation on chemicals adopted in 2006. Though as many as 36 different independent impact assessment studies had demonstrated that this would have a disastrous effect on business, the EU preferred to ignore them all in favour of its own impact study which, unsurprisingly, showed that Reach was a jolly good thing.

  1. The f**king limeys always held that technical people should be “on tap but not on top.” May the stinking bastards freeze in the dark.

  2. The UKIPers are the only limeys I have any use for. May the rest rot in Hell.
And they do smell, you know. Limeys don’t like to wash.

  3. “she held the ‘correct’ views on climate change, even to the point of suggesting that global warming might lengthen the hours of daylight in Scotland.”
WTF? How does anyone who passed grade school believe that a change in temperature will change the gyroscopic properties of the earth?

  4. The Green Blob (Delingpole’s name for the green theocracy) is clearly in charge in Europe and the UK. Statism now has no greater source of nutrition as history and economics have discredited it is so well. Science poseurs (too few practitioners deserve the respect of the word “scientist”) beholden to the theocracy are either pimped-out and must hold the line on CAGW to avoid joining the ranks of the unemployed, or are so far up the arse end of the theocracy so as be one with them.

  5. The next science advisor at their interview will have to ask the interviewers for a list of what I’m allowed to think on a long list of topics.
Hide your copies of 1984 & Brave New World they’re getting too close to the truth and the elite will be doing a Fahrenheit 451 on these and similar books before you know it.

  6. I just noticed….Gruber has become part of the English vocabulary….like Trayvon and in the past Quisling….because they have such precise meanings.
Like how do you say OK in Hungarian? Same as Japanese….OK?
