Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

$130 for a motel 6. Last 1 I was in made you pay for shampoo and soap. Never been to one since.
Isn’t that the place I pay $ 40 for a clean room throughout the western states? Only in Canader, you say.
$75 at Estevan Motel.
$130.99 per night?
Taxes and insurance, add another 15 dollars?
–
$145.00 per night,
is that a Beach Front Condo, with life guard and room service?
Damn….
But it comes with Grey Poupon.
Yeah, something like that. $29 in Freeport, IL, and Janesville, WI, but $140 in Canader.
Supply and Demand?
Back in my day you stayed at the Albany, Barry or Capri on 20th Street unless you were in some highfalutin place like the King George or if you had a car, at the Southerland Hotel. No body could afford to stay at the Bess. Good time…..Good times.
“Last 1 I was in made you pay for shampoo and soap. Never been to one since.”
I’ve got that beat. The last time I stayed at a Motel 6, the TV cost $1 extra – you turned it on with a key they gave you.
If you call the motel/hotel you will usually get a better rate than the on-line reservation center.
I applaud them for recognizing the free market system. If people are stupid enough to pay that, well good for Motel 6. If not, they will not survive.
Competition and Choice-that’s what it’s all about.
That’s the smell of money and success. Good on Saskatchewan.
So which one is better? I’m not clear on the $US to $CDN conversion rate.
Has anyone seen gas prices? 2/10 of a cent difference on a 1.30 a liter in BC.
Price fixing perfection.
Correction – 2/100
1.30 a liter in BC
In jurisdictions where high tax is the order of the day the consumer pays 2 ways; both the higher tax and the lack of competition that goes with a high tax area. In some areas of BC most of the gas stations have closed and you are left with 1 gas station for a large centre. I’ve been to BC lately and their green taxes are destroying their province and the rank and file don’t seem to grasp the serious nature of what is happening.
That’s astonishing. The most expensive one I ever stayed in was $66, last year in Everett, WA. Well, they were U.S. dollars, yes, but I don’t recall any extra charges and everything was okay.
At that price, does it come with extras, such as Shiatsu Jack would appreciate?
