  1. A little sabre rattling by the First Secretary to test our responses. He is warning us that Ukraine is not to be befriended by the west

  2. Vlad is having a little fun, just screwing with the progressives.
Nothing a little carpet bombing won’t fix.

  3. Vlad formerly of the KGB, still thinks he’s running the old Soviet Union. Since its no longer crippled by the command economy Russia is twice as dangerous as it was back in the USSR.

  4. The Washington Free Beacon:
“One defense official said the Russian bomber activity appeared timed to the visit to the United States and Canada by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. The Ukrainian leader was in Ottawa for meetings with Canadian leaders on Wednesday. He met with President Obama on Thursday.”

  5. Hillary Clinton’s first visit to Russia! A good “first cause”, for those who attach significance
    to such things.

  6. If France isn’t going to deliver those two helicopter carrier/assault ships to Russia, matbe Canada could pick them up for a sweet deal.

  7. Well, who doesn’t get their geopolitical information from an NPR contributing eblogger, digital media commentator and tech culture journalist quoting the National Cornhole’s opinion about somebody for whom he has a perverted dislike?

  8. The Tu-95MS variant, built in the 1980s and 1990s, are the Bears that Russia is flying now. There is nothing antique about the 6 long range nuclear capable cruise missiles they can carry and launch. The Russians have been experimenting with scram jet missiles, launched from TU-95s for several years now.
Russia expects to keep flying TU-95s until 2040, because they are flying missile platforms, just like America’s B-52s are.

  9. Not all Russians are violent, most of them are peaceful and moderate.
So all those racist Russiaphobes better open our borders to as many tactical bombers and troops as Putin wants to send.

  10. Maybe Justin Jazz Hands can visit some Russian air force bases as part of his job to promote a message of openness and respect, because if there are concerns about one community or another it’s even more important to not marginalize them.

  11. Yeah, that antique argument is like saying 90’s Ford pickups are antiques.
If the Brits had practiced the same policy as the Russians and the Yanks, the Vulcans would still be flying…..
I recall an Associate, X-RAF, who recalled intercepting a Bear over the North Sea.
The Bear was cruising at about 400mph when buddy, driving a Jaguar, moved in close at the Bear’s 8.
Ivan cracked the throttles….buddy firewalled his throttle and watched helplessly as the Bear out accelerated him.
The not so much joke of the USAF…Join the air Force and fly the same plane yer grampa flew. Actually like the Ruskies, the early marks are now lawn ornaments in some desert.

  12. Listened to a talk by a retired Canadian general who commanded at Colorado Springs Norad.
He said anyone who under rates Russian tactical equipment are making a big mistake. He said it was top notch.

  13. A few ideas to ponder, sasquatch and OZ:
Those aircraft were that good because your grandpa and grandma built them. You putzes couldn’t build one that good if an executive order suspended physics.
American Aircraft are built for upgrade and maintenance. The United States has the best aircraft maintenance in the world. Nobody, but nobody, is better.
The McDonnell Douglas F-15 A–E has never been shot down by any other aircraft. Every single ME aircraft since 1980 has been shot down by a MDC product.
No Mig-29 has ever shot down an F-15, F-22, F/A-18.
This list was not based on actual battlefield performance, but on how fast the aircraft flies. The F-4 phantom was the fastest straight-line fighter in the sky. Had problems turning and was built without machine guns. Good aircraft for its purpose, but was knocked down by lesser aircraft.
No, a Bear of any model with propellers can not out fly any of the above, unless obama’s executive order outlaws the laws of physics.
No Russian or Chinese stealth aircraft has better stealth than the B-2, F-111, F22. You guys are like the ignorant librul idiots who think that assault rifles and AR-15s are worse than any other weapon, because they look so bad.
If the Russian pilots are so good, why do the lieutenants have acne?

  14. Fantasizing about who has better war-craft than the next sounds fun, but the reality is no major nation on earth needs to build much armaments to defeat the US.
They just walk across the border and set up shop all around the US – as they’ve bloody done for decades!
The gates have been open for the enemy across the western world, why do so many people think they haven’t used them?
You can have the latest greatest bizarro weapon of mass destruction in the world and you will never beat an enemy who is well entrenched within your walls.

  15. Knight 99…so true.
Old Country Boy…you can have a billion F-22’s,a million B-2’s…not worth squat when te enemy is within. Your country bet its left nut on a muzzie manchurian Chimp-in-Chief. Suck it up. Your knowledge of the enemy within is about as good as your knowledge of cougars.

  16. It’s not nothing, but it’s more geopolitical monkey dance than threat. There is, however, a real threat from irregular warfare within our borders against such targets as oil trains. We’re probably not there yet but it’s more of a possibility now than at any point prior.
