WUWT: Current data from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers shows that for the first time in 14 years, all five Great Lakes are at or above average water levels. Lake Michigan/Huron is up 18″ in the last year.

Well, its as obvious as the nose on your face that this is being caused by the accelerated ice melt that was predicted… Oh wait, that didn’t happen either…
If I recall when it was discovered that the icecaps were bigger than ever.. The greentard response was ‘but its new ice’. One would expect their response on this one will be its ‘new water’ so it don’t count.
Now how the heck did all that water from Greenland’s dissapearing glaciers get into the Great Lake’s watershed? Oh wait. And as an after thought,is that average level from before or after the lakes where formed from the glacial ice sheet that was over a kilometer thick retreated? So many questions,so little green kool-aid,sigh.
Did it rain more? Or did they just fix the too-high flow rate in the St. Clair river that’s been draining Lake Huron at an accelerated rate these last 15-20 years?
No doubt this will be considered by the AGW cult as evidence of oceans rising due to (non-existent) Arctic ice melt.
As a sailor or the Great Lakes (Superior) I grin and wonder when the Coast Guard broadcasts that the water lever is .4something above chart datumn, just how much water it takes to raise the water level on Lake Superior, 31,700 Sq miles, .4 of a meter.

sorry “of” not “or.”
the Soo locks sort of control the Superior lake level.
when its low, the ships traversing the channel to the locks can send waves across the bay by the steel mill.
how come we got snow in cowtown, i’m miffed!

Uh…unicorn farts?
Sea ice melts and freezes seasonally, sea level is not effected by this cycle.
As land ice melts it increases the ocean volume.
Greenland is losing 375 cubic kilometres of land ice a year. Antarctica is losing 125 cubic kilometres of land ice a year. The ocean volume is about 1,386,000,000 cubic kilometers. The effect on sea level from the melting ice caps is insignificant.
Land subsidence or rebound, and increased ocean volume can effect perceived ‘sea level’ at any specific location, and then there are tides…
Measuring ‘sea level’ with any accuracy is as fallacious as measuring average global temperature with any accuracy. It’s more political propaganda than science.
