The British Journal of Psychiatry has retracted a June 2013 paper by Malafosse and his colleagues on the genetics of bipolar disorder in children because Malafosse allegedly fabricated key data in the study.
The article, “Childhood maltreatment and methylation of the glucocorticoid receptor gene NR3C1 in bipolar disorder,” purported to find that people with bipolar disorder who had experienced more, and more severe, abuse early in life were more likely to show epigenetic changes.
Deniers, take heart! There’s a warrant for his arrest.

Looks like someone is channeling their inner Climate Scientist.
”Alain Malafosse, formerly director of the genetic psychiatry unit at the University Hospitals of Geneva, is accused of embezzling Swiss government research funds and of fabricating data. ”
I am SO glad to see he embezzled funds, otherwise, there might have been no action taken at all.
Perhaps he WAS driven mad (Fred) at the prospect of catastrophic climate change,if I was his lawyer, that’s exactly the line of defence I’d take.
All reports of a scientific import which claim to support politically correct fashion should be scrutinized very closely. All should be checked for repeatability. That is being able to produce the same results in subsequent independent tests or experiments.
More than money is at stake in these cases.
