2. I’m not sure of his point. They are both spinning clockwise. Wouldn’t this mean they are attaining some sort of efficiency by producing electricity even if facing backwards (ie. away from the wind.) Don’t get me wrong. I hate the subsidy eating things the same as the next conservative or libertarian.

4. Vic, right, Kate is ridiculing the man’s confusion, also with the title of the post, “stinking fans.” It’s like Jeopardy! and NYT crosswords, always two clues. Apparently.

6. Vic, it’s possible that the fans are being turned by hydrocarbon fuelled generators. Eating power instead of producing. Doesn’t look like its very windy.

7. Given that the generators inside are alternators, it shouldn’t matter, electrically at least, which way they turn. But the propeller blades are undoubtedly more efficient when turning in their design direction. My guess would be that the mechanism for orienting the generator has broken down in one of the machines.
   What this video does is suggest indifferent maintenance, more than anything else.

8. No matter which way they turn they’re the biggest farce, the biggest waste of money ever, in fact they’re a scam, right in line with the Greenies and Eco freaks. When the idiots in governments like in Ontario’s Liberal disaster run out of funds from lack of “production” they’ll be standing there as monuments to sublime stupidity.

9. Likely broken down. They’ll eventually be used to scavenge spare parts for the other bird blenders when spares become hard to come by due to the manufacturer going bankrupt.

12. Don’t get me wrong, I am the first to complaint about wind turbines. As far as I am concerned, the only place I ever believed a wind turbine should be erected was far, far away from people and definitely without any subsidies from government and never supplying the grid. I have since tempered my opinion to say never ever anywhere since they have a detrimental effect on flora and fauna. All I was saying above was, complain about them for substantive reasons and and for humour’s sake, but not for reasons that don’t make any sense… or possibly the humour was just lost on me this time.

13. If memory serves, these stupid machines may still
    utilize a “safety feature” in strong winds that
    keeps the blades oriented downwind from the tower
    to avoid an upwind configuration where the blades
    and tower might try to occupy the same space at the
    same time. The errant tower probably has a few wires
    crossed or a failed sensor that no one has noticed.
