The U.S. Congress has many pressing issues before them. IRSgate and the Benghazi fiasco are but two that top a long list. So one might think they’d be preoccupied with a lot of important things to investigate. Why bother with those though if you can keep the Media Party lapdogs primarily focused on . . . a daytime TV show host named Dr. Oz!
On their latest podcast, Adam Carolla and Drew Pinsky discuss this issue at length, beginning at 6:15. Language warning but well worth a listen.
When I saw clips of Oz being grilled, I wondered what the issue was. We have been subject to all the stupid quackery buzzwords for a generation or two. If I hear the term anti-oxidant my mind says “quack, quack, quack.” That said, Oz is a TV entertainer providing TV entertainment and dear senators, everything on TV isn’t real – Apparently except for Dr. Oz and professional wresting. Where do they find these idiots to keep electing.
Why haven’t the senators called Michael Mann of Penn State for a grilling to allow him a chance to perjure himself on his global warming research? Answer – because they are stupid.
As Carolla says in his podcasts, why do politicians keep on working from small to large, rather than from large to small? In other words, why do they always focus on the small and/or trivial issues rather than dealing with the BIG ISSUES?!?
Of course, that’s a rhetorical question, given who we’re talking about.
Ya know, if my old genuine, purebred, Greater Glengarry Moosehound, Jerome was human, he’d be tuned right in to all of this Doc Oz BS.
I mean, he knows he’s a Moosehound, and he knows that moose are his bread and butter, and he knows that if he don’t track moose his future is gonna turn to shit. But the simplest thing can distract that knucklehead from the important stuff.

RW,it’s because,as we both know,the idea is to keep their faces before the public to give the impression that they’re diligently on the job.
How many times have you heard someone coo, “my MP does SUCH a great job”, but they can’t tell you exactly WHAT that great job consists of, but if they’ve been on TV over some trivial matter,”he did such a great job exposing Dr.Oz…”!
The MSM,Thomas (not “Tom”,he isn’t one of us) Mulcair,and little Pierre-Margaret Trudeau have been fairly frothing over Peter McKay’s unimportant tweets about female Judges.
One would think this was the most important story in Canada right now, but it’s just another chance to rave on against the government.
My granny used to say when I was a kid. Never believe a tenth what is in a book, & even less watching TV.I figure that advice has done me well in my many years.
It sure has proved itself.People love fiction more than the mundane.

Having spent the last five weeks in the company of fairly well informed Americans, first on a Hanson tour and then in
State College PA with a more-or-less university circle, I (and my wife) were struck by the fact that the conservatives know
what is going on and think it bad but are in deep denial about how bad it really is. I have not heard one of them say,
“Obama is a typical dictator and we now live in a totalitarian state.” They are so used to well-intentioned or self-serving
politicians that more or less respect the rules (though they bend them) that the present situation is incomprehensible.
We see this even with Victor Hanson – there is a little bit of denial in his most recent articles.
As for the rest – well, my old friend [?] RMH greeted me by saying, “that God-damned George W. Bush should be hung,
and so should Dick Cheney – along with Condoleeza Rice.” Talk about being stuck in the past!
For a long time Obama has been “young Robert” to me, after Robert Mugabe. I may have to promote him, one of these
days – perhaps “Barack Mugabe.”
I never heard that one. I was brought up with “Believe half of what you see and nothing that you hear”. Both are good advise.
Remember the old half-truth “perception is reality”? Well, today’s politicians and their masters, the media, (yes, I mean that in most cases!) believe that popular culture shapes perception, and IS therefore reality for most people. I wish I could say they are mistaken. To these people and their constituents, what happens in pop culture is far more important than boring, unimportant things like budgets (has the U.S. had any of those recently?) foreign policy, Benghazi, IRS, or whatever. They focus on hairstyles, image, image, and image. After all, How did BHO get elected twice? His media lapdogs, who focus only on image, and a huge section of the voting public, ARE more concerned about daytime television than on reality. If I had to plan the demise of a culture, I could think of no better way than to get them totally focused on a few central sources of entertainment masquerading as information, and then use those sources to change the way they think and perceive the world around them. Think Hollywood, TV, and the various “news” magazines. Has it worked? You betcha!!! Was it masterminded? Nope, but a certain group-think in a lot of circles (see the SDA item on “Trust in Media” and the reasons for the Media mindset) has enabled our current situation.
Reasons for this:
First and most important, its something shiny to distract the rubes from the hordes of illegals tramping across the border every day.
Second, politicians want to have some fame rub off on them, so they get on TV with somebody famous in the same room. Dr. Oz will do.
Third, they want to increase the federal government’s grip on the health food/vitamins industry, so they go after the most visible guy in it, Dr. Oz.
Media needs to make Obama and the DemocRats look good, so they need something shiny too. Because if you’re not looking at your TV, they aren’t making any money. This is shiny enough.
