afford to charge the car because Obama has pledged to
cripple the power companies! But as is usual in the
case of any socialist revolution, it will be the poor
who takes it in the ass!

She was principal energy advisor to the Premier’s Office in Ontario throughout the McGuinty years in office. Read her bio; she’s typical of the activist/pseudo academic that’s invaded the professional bureaucracy over the past three decades.
1. This woman was a principal architect of the Green Energy Act;
2. She was accompanied by a host of these “political aides” and other appointees that have nothing to do with the regular civil service but are largely political appointments and aides to some minister.
She’s a symptom of everything that’s gone wrong with government.

The real irony is that even oil soaked earth before it is reclaimed looks natural. I agree with you wholeheartedly, solar and wind collection looks horrid along the landscape. Oil and gas is very low profile in comparison.

We are missing an Engineering Analysis that explains the complex problem of Configuring a Thousand (1000) little TURDS into a single functioning phase & redundant energy source. The more Turds you have the more complex the matrix
The existing Grid can’t take power from unstable sources. There is a limit on the amount of unregulated/unpredictable power sources back feeding into the system. The simple way would be distributed dummy loads, but that results in a no gain sum.
What is the Cost of a re-design & reconfiguring of the existing Grid system?

Carter began to shift billions of dollars in subsidies
for green projects that we STILL do not need! Not long
ago, the U.S. Navy bought bio-fuels at about $40.00 a
a gallon. Just today, I learned the Navy spent $150.00
a gallon for fuels derived from algae.
Alaska, the rest of the United States and the United
Provinces of Canukistan have more proven oil reserves
than the rest of the world combined! We will not run
out of these resources in a thousand years!
One of my favorite authors (Mark Steyn) got it right in
his address to Hillsdale College. He said that when the
price of oil spikes, the Canadian stock market soars,
and the American stock market plummets. Canada is
smart enough to actually exploit her resources.

Just asking: what would it cost to tear those wind turbines down and reclaim the land for something else?

I visited the wind farm on The Big Island of Hawaii many years ago. It had already been abandoned by that time. It reminded me of the ‘moa’ on Easter Island. A rather isolated spot on the south end of the island. These silent sentinels looking out to sea. In a twisted way you could view them from a archeological perspective. They were bleeding oil from most of the drive hubs which killed the moment.

In Ont, wind companies pay lip service with promises to dismantle their turbines at the end life. Frankly I don’t believe them.
When the FIT subsidies end so will the profits and most of these outfits are foreign based. I expect they will simply walk away and the Ont taxpayers will be left holding the bill.In a fair universe that bill would be sent to the Liberal party Ont.
Not surprisingly I could get no estimates from OMAF about how many acres of agricultural land is removed for each turbine built. Some put the figure as between 2 and 3 acres, for roads, lines, stations and concrete pads. Most of this could eventually be reclaimed, but the pads with tons of reinforced concrete?
I cannot see anybody blasting these out. They will remain as monuments to the extreme foolishness of green zealots in the 21th century.

Ontario the Stupid should be the new license plate motto if the Wynnemill party gets returned to Office. We’ll be paying through the nose for electric power while selling surplus energy at a loss to the US.

When a dominant culture believes that government is the doer of all that is virtuous and elect its most popular cheerleaders to their legislatures, reason, science, engineering, economics are irrelevant. Anyone who was reading Professor Beckman’s (Electrical engineering, Bolder, Colorado) newsletter, Access to Energy in the 70s knew this all to be folly but within a progressive cultural wasteland, it was/is inevitable.
Just another reason to limit the state to basic security. Commerce plus governance equals a typical Canadian Indian reserve.
