  1. It’s amazing how context becomes so important to people after they realize!!!!

  2. Kate Mulgrew…. “I was a voice for hire…”. The question is what was the price? Many celebs work DIRT cheap if they so choose. If THEIR cause is right’eous’.

  3. A few years ago I had a conversation with some physicists and astronomers who were mocking people who still believed in a geocentric universe (Earth is the center)
So Asked them where the center of the universe actually was …. they replied that there is not one actual center of the universe ….. anywhere you go in the universe is the center.
So I said then that means if we are here on the earth , it would be the center of the universe
They admitted YES …. boy were they ever mad !!!!!

  4. Well . . . NASA’s space navigation systems use the center of the Earth as the origin of the navigation coordinates.
That must prove the Earth is the center of the universe. Or maybe that treating the Earth as the center of the universe is a simplifying assumption that makes navigation a whole lot easier than doing a complex offset calculation every time you want to calculate your position and velocity relative to the Earth.

  5. If the universe is expanding, like the surface of a balloon, from any spot on the surface of the balloon (universe) all the other spots (galaxies, stars, etc.) will appear to be moving away from your chosen spot. In fact, the further away they are, the faster they are retreating. In such manner, the center of the universe becomes your point of observation. When you ask a physicist a surprise gotcha question about absurdities like this, their lower brain kicks in and they sound stupid – an old reporters’ trick.

  6. “Geocentric” does not mean “Earth is the center of the universe”. It means that everything in the Solar System orbits around the Earth. This is demonstrably untrue.
The film, from what I could tell, does not appear to argue for orbital geocentrism. Rather, it seems to be arguing that the Earth is somehow special or unique in the panoply of celestial mechanics. Given how little we actually know about astronomy, this might be true or might not, but it’s not science (yet) either way.

  7. The most recent findings by WMAP when they measure Cosmic Microwave Background of the universe it appears earth is at the center , which means earth was created first and the rest of the universe afterwards… it has put a lot of science on its ear and challenges special relativity.

  8. No, the center of the universe is Toronto, everybody knows that.
IF the Earth is or isn’t the center of the Universe, what impact will it have on my life?

  9. “‘Geocentric’ does not mean ‘Earth is the center of the universe’. It means that everything in the Solar System orbits around the Earth.”
The answer is probably more accurately rendered: it all depends on the context in which you use the adjective “geocentric”.
