Well since this song was performed at a Billy Graham crusade it is likely OK to recount a story told by Billy’s singer, Canadian Bev Shea. It would seem that when Bev was about 5 years old living in Ontario his dad, a pastor, was holding a week long revival meetings. Of course anyone who has been to a revival meeting knows there must be special music. Bev’s mom was quite a piano player and it should surprise no one that the special music singers came to call on Mrs Shea to help them learn a new song. The song was The Old Rugged Cross.

Plainsdrifter, I noticed that earlier today. I was struck by the sub-headline, which I think is despicable:
“PM Stephen Harper’s wife dismisses student’s remarks about missing or murdered indigenous woman.”
The whole point of CBC publishing this story is so they could link these words in a headline: “Stephen Harper”, “dismisses”, “missing or murdered indigenous women”
The CBC sneeringly claims they are neutral and Sunnews is biased. I watch Sun news and even Ezra on his most fired up monologue has never stooped so low as to match this filth from the CBC.
The Old Rugged Cross! What a wonderful song for Good Friday. I played it on the organ at church yesterday morning among a prelude of passion songs. It often brings tears to my eyes. Happy Easter everyone!
Comments are open . . . Except when they are about the Catholic Church. Kate, I didn’t think censorship was in your vocabulary. What a disappointment! It’s not as if every other thread doesn’t stray from the topic at hand, so what gives?
Our state broadcaster had this story up about the missing aboriginal women about a year ago. This article basically calls BS on the native claims. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/rcmp-questions-claim-of-600-missing-aboriginal-women-1.1341730
Most native women that go missing are found. Most native women that are murdered are murdered by those closest to them, other natives.
The 700 cases that are often cited are bogus. But hey, if you call them on it, you are a racist.
Nowadays, they rarely even allow a link to their own article.
They are not a credible news source. The CBC is a left-wing activist organization that covers its agenda with “Canadian” programming of dubious quality, and it only costs us a billion dollars a year.
From the “Trailer Park Boys” CBC interview (5:15);
” Every time that 3 Canadians gather together for a conversation, something must be said about our awful federal gov’t.”
A talk that should be about promoting the movie turns into a Conservative hatefest.
A billion dollars a year doesn’t get you much these days.
Perhaps this is a good time to focus on Christ, not religion,eh?
Thanks for the song Kate.

Very nice Kate , happy Easter
Here is a surprisingly good quality Johnny Cash video from his early days (1958) (I walk The Line) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xObSJWIWui0 … What a voice !!!!
The Easter sacrifice came at great cost to our Savior , with tremendous benefits for us …. sometimes I celebrate with some ice cold Canadian Champagne , turn up the volume on this song , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GKhDCsLrUg&noredirect=1 , and Howl at the Moon !!!!
In the first study of its kind, scientists have compared air pollution rates from 1850 to 2000 and found that anthropogenic (man-made) particles from Asia impact the Pacific storm track that can influence weather over much of the world.
The team, which includes several researchers from Texas A&M University, has had its work published in the current issue of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). http://phys.org/news/2014-04-asian-air-pollution-affect-pacific.html
CO2 has never been the problem, it’s always been the particulate pollution.

Amazing post today on Watts Up With That. It is about death, not climate.
