That’s “practice”.

James Taranto: “The first thing we thought of when we saw the pictures was the photos we’ve recently seen on Twitter of Venezuelans waiting in bread lines. Waiting in line to purchase necessities is a characteristic not of a prosperous free society but of command economies under repressive regimes. Closer to home, one doubts even the Transportation Security Administration would be so tone-deaf as to advertise long airport lines as an indication it’s doing a great job.” |
More: “This is why Americans are not popping the cork. Nor should the administration.”

“Simply putting someone on a list is not the same as providing necessary medical attention in a timely manner”
What a load of Crap. In Saskatchewan getting on the “list” is not easy. They put your name in the “Waiting for the Waiting List” file. Once you get on the List you may be Counted.
this article supports the Fair Election Act I hope NDP and Liberals will support the Fair Election Act

But no mention of the Province of Ontario Sunshine list?
Top heavy administration is draining health care funding, and right now those well paid admins are discussing layoff and downsizing the nurses and technical staff.
Of course the e-health boondoggle was sooo yesterday. Front line workers cannot even see any benefit from e-health. Clearly it was dreamed up by an analyst that has never been in health care.
And the provinces will blame the feds.
Here are wait lists to get on a wait list on On-scary-o.
Moved to Ontario a year and a half back. put our names on a government wait list to get a regular family doctor. Now I get a letter from the office asking if I got a family doctor yet. That has been the entire extent of the “help” this group of oxygen suckers provide.
It is so pathetic here that even some of the walk-in clinics will not take you unless your doctor is practicing there. Of course the fall back position is to go to Emerg at the hospital but that just overloads the hospital to the point that real emergency cases are put in jeopardy(my opinion).
Attention comedians – there’ll be hay to be made stateside from old queue jokes… hard to tell whether Brit or Iron Curtain style will ring truer.
Anyone here ever, anywhere, anytime, hear of any politician who had to go to a public clinic or Emerg as their only hope to access a family doctor?
Me neither.
I don’t know if Americans realize how long it takes to see a specialist here in Canada, let alone a GP.
“Free” healthcare? Anything’s free when you don’t have it.
Kate,
I hope to control my anger during this comment.
Just got off the phone with my 15 year old grand daughters BC-BS insurance rep.
I have been taking care of her for 14 years and she has epileptic seizures.
I also cussed everyone at BC-BS even the poor bastard sweeping the floors…
Anyway,,,,,
Blue Cross-BS is now telling me that her seizure med is too expensive and we will have to use cheaper generic brands,
The original doctor we were told by Obumbles we could Keep,
prescribed the Primary Medications because it keeps her from suffering pain after a seizure.
Our New doctor is trying to blend/stir/mix the different generic meds to achieve the same result and save the insurance company monies, but still causes my Grand daughter pains.
Obamacare and Obama Sucks, His Friends Suck, His Parents Sucked,

FuckingLiar, his Liberal Frigging Followers are Frigging Liars, without the U.Someday they are going to kill, or have maimed the wrong health care patient and someone will hand that Son of a Bitch a Hand Grenade.
Homeland Security might need the 2 billion bullets they bought..
I will not even tell you about her upcoming hospital stay,
I might say something wrong……..

I was watching a Los Angeles newscast last night in which they featured a local Obamacare signup run by the SEIU, ‘natch, and apparently for the purpose of helping Mexicans(!) sign up: late night, Mexican music blasting, party atmosphere, long lineup of Mexicans who apparently can’t figure out Healthcare.gov for themselves.
Included in this group were a couple of young twenty something perfect English speaking girls – senoritas Sanchez and Lopez, I think – who astonishingly needed the help of the SEIU.
Lots of white SEIU scum clearly there with the intent to use socialism and unionism to rot their country from within.
When it was all said and done, the SEIU rep claimed over 600 hundred new signups, but when pressed admitted that that included people who got no further than getting an ID and password. The news guy mentioned that no one is really “signed up” until they start sending in and keep sending in their premiums.
Good luck with that.
Ah yes – the old joke, ca 1980 – an American, a Pole, and a Russian meet and are chatting together. The Pole says,
“in Poland we have to line up to buy meat”. The American says, “what’s a ‘lineup'”? The Russian says, “what’s
‘meat'”?
Then was then, now is now.
Yeah I’ve been getting’ the feeling for quite a while that OBAMACARE may be the final straw to ignite an emotional event (civil unrest/revolution)….
Of course we Canadians have always known that Americans are revolting people (pun intended)….
I keep hearing “The Bonney Blue Flag” in my subconscious…..
I suspect the Homeland Security and the DNC hear it as well….
Here in submissive Canada, there is a growing resentment, in some elements, of the barn-burning/door kickers…..
Mao T’se Tung had some valid comments about firearms….
In Ottawa, a hospital for veterans was created after WWII. One of my grandfathers spent his last two years in it,
which was one of its purposes as he was a veteran of two wars.
There aren’t very many veterans any more, so guess who uses it?
A little over a year ago our little dog tore some ligaments pretty badly chasing a ball. Went to the vet where X-rays and tests were done immediately, agreed to the surgery (quite complex and neccessary) which was then scheduled and completed a few days later (3 or 4), for around $3000 our family friend was fixed and it included an over night stay and a really cute purple cast.
Such is my experiance with private health care that does not worry about malpractice, union requirements and top heavy administrators.
My 73 year old mother on the other hand waited 6 weeks for a CT scan for a distended stomach, met with the fine DR at Juravinski 2 weeks after the scan to be told it would be a month before he could operate, went to emergency 12 days before the scheduled surgery where they could not get a bed for her and when they finally did we then spent the next week hearing all the excuses why they could not operate yet, her surgery was scheduled for June 11th 2012, we said goodbye to our mother on June 7th. She was a tiny fit woman with a brilliant mind that should have been given the opportunity to fight the cancer, not lie in a bed suffering and waiting her turn.
When I read these idiots talking fairness and rich vs poor I have trouble controlling my anger, whatever happened to discussing truth, excellence, quality and responsibility.
Am a cancer patient, here in Alberta….more on an out patient basis ( I take pill form meds to combat it). That allows me to hive off to the salt mines still and earn some tax income for our government to “hire to fire” health care “consultants” and other assorted hangers on.
I have regular blood work done on a six week basis. Was drilling a well mid Alberta, so time for blood work and drove 70 km to the nearest clinic to have it done. Oops. Don’t have a “copy” of the requisition in hand, no blood work for you. I can get the same done anywhere in Calgary, no requisition copy required. No effort was made to offer to call the Calgary blood services outfit to get them to send the info and not on any digital records access. So much for 21st century medicine practiced in Alberta.
A week later, had an opportunity to do the “work”, so drove home to Calgary 215 km, over night at home, up at 0600 H into Calgary Blood Services, did blood work, got copies of requisition and was told: “All they had to do was phone us”. Drove the 215 km back to the rig.
For the cost of a long distance telephone call (about $0.04 a minute) the sendees would have paid the cost of faxing what they needed to “serve” the patient.
Just an example of what I consider truculent, obstructive bureaucracy that is NOT predicated on serving the needs of patients, but more about funding their pension. These people will never be exposed to stuff like this. They’ll wave their United Nurses of Alberta union card and zip, front of the line.
I sincerely hope he was well cared for and comfortable. Both WW’s? You don’t get any more hero than that.
My understanding is there are plenty of veterans with needs but the Ottawa hospital you mention only offers “full service” to WWII or earlier vets. How stupid is that? Especially under a supposed Conservative government!
Please, please don’t tell me politicians are queue jumping on our veterans.
My outrage meter maxed out a good couple of months ago. I suspect soon I will be experiencing nosebleeds, I fear next after that….. BOOM!, there goes my head.
This is the future until the boomers all die off. Sorry to be cold but the entitlement systems that generation wanted are not sustainable in the long term. Once they are gone the system can go back to pre-Tommy Douglas and Trudeau.
Max, do you think national borders will remain in place that long?
Well, its nice to see America finally catching up with civilized nations like Canada. Medicare for all!

Well, all that can make it to the front of the line anyway. Forward!
Nevada Healthcare exchange-
The first class-action lawsuit in America has been filed on behalf of residents who say they signed up and paid their premiums – but were never given coverage.
Law firm Callister & Associates filed the lawsuit on behalf of Larry Basich, who signed up for state health insurance and paid premiums as far back as November,
but then was not covered following a Jan. 3 triple bypass procedure that saw his $400,000 in medical expenses passed between the wrong insurance companies.
Health Insurance companies just love those pre-existing conditions..
“we are seeing a surge in enrollment.”
I think the little commie ball sucker forgot to add that the surge is back to the 1300’s. But then, what would she know? History only started the day she was born.
“we are seeing a surge in enrollment.”
Akin to the IRS claiming a sudden surge in interest in paying taxes on April 15. The low-info voters outnumber us, people. It’s over. Enjoy the decline. I am.
Of course the real story here is there are not enough collective balls left in this country to say ENOUGH! – and start indicting the scum who cannot run our primary public system – because there other “priorities” (Quebec extortion/transfers) voting them into oblivion is not good enough, lessons need to be sent.
Another Harper let down – where is the freedom to opt out of this decrepit soviet health system he promised moons ago?
Like I said not a set of balls left in the whole damn nation – maybe we don’t deserve any better.
Thought this was the Aug 2 queue at the Ont Beer Store.
“Once they are gone the system can go back to pre-Tommy Douglas and Trudeau.”
In your dreams. It’s not like the boomers aging is some kind of revelation. Its been anticipated for decades. Massive taxation into the system was to insure it was pay as you go for everyone. That would have worked for basic coverage but we are now into million dollar machines, s*x change operations, abortions, full coverage for all new immigrants and replacement parts for most of our anatomy as well as the 27 billion dollar tab for big pharma. Even viagr@ and buckets full of prozac for our school children are part of the bill. I’m just skimming the surface here but the health care system was never cost designed to cover everything for everybody in this new world of complete entitlement. Medical advancement comes with a price that was never foreseen when the system saw its genesis and if you think that getting rid of the crispies will feed this growing empire building monster,………well , I disagree. Boomers are a easy target but the issue is that cost has outrun the ability to pay . The real villain is the entitled public that has expanded the original mandate to include everything for everyone and gutless politicians that can’t say no. It’s a monster bureaucracy that will continue to grow long after the boomers are gone. It’s the government way.
I haven’t done too bad with waiting lists in Saskatchewan. 6 weeks for a knee total replacement in 2011 and 8 weeks for double cataract surgery in 2013.
Of course I was only a simple factory worker. Not a politician or hockey/football hero!
and now we are finfing out that people were being signed up by the state government without their knowledge. some surge, more like an invasion of privacy.
