Mann Overboard

So I’m no longer an out-of-control full-bore crazy. Instead, I’m an out-of-control full-bore crazy who’s lawyered up to the hilt. This will leave me free to concentrate on my core activities of insulting judges and mocking Mann’s self-conferred Nobel Prize, while Dan, Mark and Mike do the boring stuff like looking up precedents and knowing what a tort is. It would not have been possible to put this team together without your patronage of the SteynOnline bookstore. I said that I wanted this to be a jurisprudential landmark – the first legal campaign entirely funded by sales of my Christmas disco record. Sadly, there seems to be a certain resistance to my intoxicating rhythms from some readers, so we’re also having to rely on book profits, commemorative mugs and mousepads, attitudinal T-shirts, gift certificates and the full cornucopia of delights at the Steyn store. But we’re keeping our heads above water, and for that, as we prepare to mount the first serious forensic investigation of Mann and his work, I’m enormously grateful.

And so are we.

  1. Godspeed Mark & crazy besotted crew…!
Hunt them down ‘from sea to sea, from the rivers to the ends of the earth’.

Captain Aubrey: “Do you see those two weevils, Doctor?…Which would you choose?”
Dr. Maturin: “Neither. There’s not a scrap of difference between them. They’re the same species of Curculio.”
Captain Aubrey: “If you had to choose. If you were forced to make a choice. If there were no other option.”
Dr. Maturin: “Well, then, if you’re going to push me. I would choose the right-hand weevil. It has significant advantage in both length and breadth.”
Captain Aubrey: “There, I have you!…Do you not know that in the Service, one must always choose the lesser of two weevils?”

  2. And I thought Dan, Mark, and Mike were the Rhythm Pals. (You have to be a certain age to get that one…and old enough back then to have stayed up past the hockey game.)
Steyn’s opponents want very, very badly to think he’s an overmatched dullard. Yet he keeps the surprises coming, doesn’t he?

  3. Classic Steyn:
I said that I wanted this to be a jurisprudential landmark – the first legal campaign entirely funded by sales of my Christmas disco record. Sadly, there seems to be a certain resistance to my intoxicating rhythms from some readers

  4. I remember the Rhythm Pals…seen them when I was about 10 or so when they did a northern tour to visit air force radar sites.
    And disco still sucks….

  5. I’ve been following this case/suit a bit and this is an interesting development indeed! Michael Mann did more to promote the Global Warming meme with his infamous hockey stick chart than even James Hansen with his cries of doom to the U.S. congress. I wonder if Steyn is still asking for 30 million dollars in a counter suit?

  6. Have at er Mark..!! there are many, many in both our countries that wish you GodSpeed and Success..!!

  7. God bless Mark Steyn.
Hopefully, this will ruin Michael Mann, and Penn State University,

  8. It is a great pity, but none of this would be necessary if we weren’t saddled by a biased press and greedy politicians … tolerated and therefore enabled by a lazy, cowardly public.

  9. Mark has apparently built his “legal offense” fund, as he calls it (yes, he’s still counter-suing Mann), from a substantial number of small contributions (he may have other sources, and the lawyers involved may also be limiting their billing to some extent in one fashion or another).
I would be curious to know, though, the structure of Dr. Mann’s financing in respect of his side of things: that could be very telling. I doubt very much if there is much organic support for Dr. Mann in the way of small donations: leftoids don’t, you know, do that sort of thing; they’re more into taking than giving, really, being the entitled-to-my-entitlements set that they are. I rather suspect that, to the extent he has had to rely on external financing for his legal projects, Dr. Mann’s donor list would include a who’s who list of the usual suspects.
Mr. Steyn may want to shine a bit of light on this issue through discovery; I suspect that illumination on this point would be most helpful to his position.
I passed on the Christmas album, myself, and took one of the three-fer book deals.

  10. At last, some good news for the good guy in this case.
I hope his lawyers have the same tenacity as Maurice “Mad Dog Vachon, who often said of his opponent, “I’m gonna chew him up,and spit him out”.
Yep,I remember Mike Ferbey,Marc Wald, and Jack Jensen very well after the hockey game. Pretty good warblers of “Tumbling Tumbleweeds” and other such country classics. Started on CKNW radio in the 40’s.The last member,Jack Jensen, died here in Kelowna in 2012

  11. I would be curious to know, though, the structure of Dr. Mann’s financing… David Southam
I predict Mann will fight furiously to hide his source of financial support, as the radical left which is behind AGW is undoubtedly financing Mann, and they always operate in the shadows.

  12. Thank you C.I.C. Hans; life without a chuckle would be, as some said, a dull and dreary something or other. Cheers;

  13. I was hoping for the law firm of:
Kelly & Guilfoyle as hot counsel for “The Steyn Steamroller”
Andrea Tantaros Inc handling the PR.
Oh well, these guys should also do a good job.

  14. I am amazed how prolific a writer Mark is along with his speeches, travel and support of conservative causes. Have several of his books and they are worth rereading as what he predicted comes to pass. Just bought a new book from his store to support his destruction of Mann.
