Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Heh, I kill me.
If only it were true…gawd, talk about a typical whiny damn kid. No wonder out sourcing is popular. Let someone else deal with the whiny damn kids.
Anyway, a man’s job demands a physical presence to do actual work. He’s talking about women’s work…
This guy is about 2 decades too late in his “commuting revolution”. I instituted a private network based telecommuting project in three US cities, Los Angeles, Chicago and New York in 1993. Very successful from both a productivity and cost saving perspective. And I’m a pre-baby boomer. This guy needs an attitude adjustment before he gets out of his Mom’s basement and finds a real job.
Meh, generational victimhood – a milestone in mediocrity. If the cultural climate of the “boomer” work place is so offensive, why not create your own company/business/industry. Time to grow up and stop blaming “boomers” for every minor inconvenience in life.
Telecommunting?
Productivity of home workers is sub par. Where I work, “working from home” has become a euphemism for slacking off.
Where I work, “working from home” has become a euphemism for slacking off.
Otherwise known as the minimalist approach. heh
I remember a teleworker was found to be babysitting her grandchild at her home which is totally against the rules. Some teleworkers I guess have to be monitored more closely.
You are killing yourself Aaron.
Nobody has more sympathy for the kids than I do. They are inheriting a massive financial chit burger foisted on them by liberal boomers that should be shot for what they are doing to the youth.
But when you go on youtube with helpful hints at how to screw the pooch during working hours…or blaming women and the boomers for your failure with women and employment…I lose a lot of sympathy and respect for you.
It’s a pity because you have some good things to say and you’re a bright young man otherwise.
FIRSTLY I LOVED WHAT STRADIVARIUS SAID IN THE FIRST COMMENT.
“He’s talking about women’s work” Hahahah,
I like and agree with much of what the Captain has to say. However, tends to the whiney side at times. Drags on his points until they are thread bare. ….
I sense a bitterness in some of his writing and video diatribes … like a kid who had a preconception of the world that turned out to be something other than he expected ….. perhaps disillusioned by his failed career choice …. I get all that, the message to more or less go Galt is fine and dandy, but the whining …. I dunno … it takes something away from the message.
I am enjoying the Decline and have been for a long time .. ….
only started to watch, and then hit the F-off button. You are out of your depth on that one. As a dyslexic I am hands on and visual to boot, so “tele” is a very bad idea. U see, I can look at mechanical/structural and “see” better ways very quickly, if I don’t see some thing I can’t understand it to the same depth. And I’m certain there are many out there just like me, both dyslexic and non-dyslexic, throw in the fact that I can solve a lot of problems when relaxed behind the wheel of my truck. So, sitting at home looking at the 4 walls only makes the “cube” effect even worst.
I write software and it really doesn’t matter where I do that. Luckily the company I work for now knows this. We have people all over the world and talk via webcam and skype. I go to the office sometimes still but only when I feel like it. On the days I work from home I get much more done and work a much longer day.
“Anyway, a man’s job demands a physical presence to do actual work. He’s talking about women’s work…”
Wow. You really do hate people who are smarter than you.
I’ve had similar conversations with similar bosses as what the Captain describes. “Because we’ve always done it that way.” or “Because I said so!” are not good answers. As witnessed by the fact that every moron who ever gave me those answers is out of business, and I’m not.
“women’s work”, forsooth. Welcome to the Twenty First Century. The best two doctors I know are chicks, Strad baby. They are better because they are smarter than the boy doctors around here, and they work harder. Deal with it.
Boomer, GenX, Millenials, etc. Incompetent, lazy and self entitled in about the same percentages. It’s their good fortune that there are only 21 million or so of us prewar guys and gals around to point out what a bunch of losers you all are. And Aaron or whatever your name is, try getting a job with that log on your shoulder.
yup
another dumb post by the Captain
this is getting silly
time for Kate to pull the plug on him
At first I thought this title was about telecommunication and he almost had a point with me, but, being as the Boomer is the boss = successful . . . Why mess with it?
My problem is just the opposite. I am a Baby Boomer and have a young Boss. I could, physically, do my job from an IPhone.
,
I am not whining, but it’s gona be very satisfying to come in Sept. 4th and tell the Lil Prick it’s my last day.
Hate to pile on but: Amen to that cg
Aaron forgets who invented most of the stuff he would use today, “telecommuting”. BOOMERS broke trail on that. Hurry Aaron, most of us are gonna retire soon, leaving you to hold the bag on productivity.
Ratt, think to do is do that job from a iPhone yourself, and put your little baby boss out of business.
There is no revenge sweeter than success.
Videos like this are not going to help you sell books.
Whenever I think it’s time to stop ragging on the Baby Boomers… another one of them displays the narcissism, selfishness, entitlement, and destructiveness which is the hallmark of their degenerate generation, usually inconveniencing me in the process.
I can count on one hand the number of Boomers who are worth the market price of their component elements.
Useless, entitled children; now that they’re turning grey and old, they’re desperately trying to assert the fact that they deserve “respect” for being elders, when they never once acted like adults, and are still behaving like teenagers.
Try pretending to be a doctor instead of an economist. We’re okay with that here.
Attention commenting doctors: don’t take the bait!
Telecommunt?
Coming from a background as a programmer who worked for a Triple-A studio,(though tripe-a studio might be closer to the truth) you’re off in lala land. Telecommuting just doesn’t work in a lot of cases, unless your job is highly specialized and you don’t need to have a physical presence there. And even at that, we tried the whole bit during a down time session, didn’t work. Can’t keep people focused on the task at hand either, ask Yahoo how well their grand experiment worked.
If you replace “baby boomers” with “establishment”, I heard 50% of what he says and 100% of his ideas from idiot fellow boomers 35 years ago.
If he’d ever run anything besides his mouth, stuff he says about management might be worth listening to, but he hasn’t and it isn’t.
It only took me about 20 seconds of that video to remember why It’s a waste of time to listen to or read anything by Captain Capitalism. Sorry, but I have no idea why Kate provides him with his forum for his opinionated foolishness. He’s obviously using her good name to advance his own “career”.
The Ethereal One gets up on his hobby horse defending the wimmins…which only proves the point.
Ya see, Ethereal One, ya don’t use a tractor trailer unit to haul two bricks. Well, unless yur quite a few bricks short of a load…(maybe I ain’t smart, but at least I have all my bricks…heh)
There’s men’s work, and there’s wimmin’s work. Deal with it.
