YNoKyoto: Bombs Away!

At last.

The Canada Revenue Agency is currently conducting extensive audits on some of Canada’s most prominent environmental groups to determine if they comply with guidelines that restrict political advocacy, CBC News has learned.
If the CRA rules that the groups exceeded those limits, their charitable status could be revoked, which would effectively shut them down.
[…]
The list of groups CBC has now confirmed are undergoing audits reads like a who’s who in the environmental charity world. They include:
The David Suzuki Foundation
Tides Canada
West Coast Environmental Law
The Pembina Foundation
Environmental Defence
Equiterre
Ecology Action Centre
“This is a war against the sector,” says John Bennett, of Sierra Club Canada.

Scorched earth, baby.

  1. I have done some consulting with the CRA regarding charities, and would be stunned if there was any political direction. The message I have heard from CRA staff repeatedly is that they work for the Canadian taxpayer. Full stop.
That said, it is indeed about time these groups were audited. I look forward to the ir loss of charitable status, and hopefully some significant financial penalties.

  2. If only these “charities” had been around to help out Homo antecessor before the Climate Change Times came:
“They were left by a group, including at least two children and one adult male. They could have been be a family foraging on the banks of a river scientists think may be the ancient Thames, beside grasslands where bison, mammoth, hippos and rhinoceros roamed……That’s significant because 700,000 years ago, Britain had a warm, Mediterranean-style climate. ”

  3. Strange happenings. I just tried to access Ethical Oil.org.
It appears it is suddenly not accessible. I’m sure it’s just coincidence.

  4. …would be stunned if there was any political direction…
There is nothing inherently wrong with “political direction”, that is how the public holds bureaucracies like CRA accountable. A taxpayer writes to the Minister responsible and alleges improper behavior by a registered charity, and the Minister directs her staff to “look into this” – that’s her job.

  5. Its about time the forces that want to regulate every aspect of our society based on ACTIVIST science and corrupt journalism were outed as a full on political movement..
They use so called science to impose their political will and then turn around and ignore the science that proves them wrong..
Ive known in my bones and stated here many times that green violates our political / election laws.. Its as illegal as it is political.. Imposed by money and political forces that never see a ballot or the light of day..
Its good to see a step in the right direction.. I will be even better to see 2/3s of these political thugs evaporate..

  6. Balance must be restored.. The benefits of green is as abstract as any political platform that cant predict the future.. Amateurs and their bull shit computer models hoisted up as the final word.. Hired malcontents and their blind supporters all to willing to lower somebody else’s standard of living so they can pretend they are saving the world..
Its like a grade 7 theater arts class has staged a coup and then they go on to pretend its a revolution.. Treating us like we are some computer model.. Im so tired of waiting for sanity to return to the body politic.. Here is to a step in the right direction..

  7. Burn it down!
Good news; my protests to the Federal Government has won the day! Just like I got Stephen Harper elected; or a majority Conservative government; or the unification of the Political Right.
Boy, I’ve been involved in all these battles and Won, baby, WON!
I think I’ll write a book “The Left: My part in its downfall”. Of course, the battle is not yet won.

  8. The comments at CBC this morning were typical Harper bashing for ‘gagging free speech’ ad nauseum.
If they are now more in favour we can thank Kate sending the gang over to that site.

  9. The well known money launderer, the Tides Foundation will have a lot of uncomfortable explaining to do.
Let’s hope the government follows up by banning all of those who draw their funding from the focus of the transnational radical network, the US. A nice touch would be a letter requesting George Soros drop by for a chat – under oath.

  10. It would be real neat if the gov’t used JTF-2 to capture Soros while he’s out of the USA and bring him to Canada to face charges…or better yet rendition in a place that “isn’t” Canada or the US.

  11. Sierra Club Canada and the Dogwood Initiative should be added to the list of organizations receiving an audit.

  12. I’ve been emailing MP’s for over a year now on getting to the bottom of this charity issue. Finally some head way. People forget that when you issue a charity receipt you essentially passing the burden over to all canadians through the tax system. David Suzuki and his little foundation does not need any more of our money than he’s already extorted.

  13. About bloody time. Let’s all pray that Revenue can show some guts and integrety and at least cut some of these groups off at the ankles.

  14. I will listen to CKNW to see if there is any mention of this, but I doubt it, he’s a warmist and one of his favorites here in town is Sandy Garrisino, who is allegedly a supporter of Tides Canada. Should be interesting.

  15. Sunlight is wonderful.
    About time.
If the revenuers find that these characters are actually operating within the charity laws of Canada, then it is time to write some real laws.
Money Laundering, promoting civic disorder and encouraging lawless loons are not charitable actions benefiting the taxpayers of Canada.
How does agenda 21, a dumbed down education system and concentration of power in the hands of unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats benefit any canadian citizen?

  16. It seems to me you are forgetting that Harper is the mouthpiece for Big Oil in Canada.
Yeah sure those of you who hate the Greens and their NGO’s. But what about those of us who are deeply concerned with the environmental abuses of Big Oil. Sure the Greens are using the concerns of ordinary Canadians in order to commit economic warfare against Canadian economic interests….No doubt, Also, I just have utter contempt for Dr. Fruitfly ( David Suzuki ) and thanks to Vivian Krause for exposing his little game.
But at the same time don’t forget Harper could turn on you Harper Conservative lovers. He has been very crafty in using the CRA to do his slash and burn for him and his Big Oil backers. Just remember this racists’ recent trip to to Israel where he groveled at the feet of the most hated man and state in the world. Harper is a thug like the rest of them. “A plague on both of them.”
