It’s Probably Nothing

More.
This sounds about right:

Publicity stunt. Their financials for 2012 show about $20 mil in revenue and the same in expenses. They’ve got a $500k GIC maturing in 30 days and a $1mil line of credit (seemed to be undrawn at last year end) But they take a $2 mil funding cut and they have to lay everyone off? BS. They could cut back on their travel and consulting costs that added up to close to $4 mil and fix this in 5 minutes. But instead they’ve done the fake layoffs to get the CBC and globe and torstar all wound up and start some Idle No More hoo ha. I took the numbers off the annual report which is on their website.

Methinks he answered his own question…YOU CAN’T…now find some of your own money if you want to be taken seriously.
Becoming productive in a real and meaningful way does wonders for one’s perspective.
Not to mention their self esteem.

You’re First Nations, yeah? Get the money from your national revenues.
Need more government revenues? Tax the citizens of your nations.
That said, if you’re a ‘strong effective lobby group’ how is it that you’ve not been successfully able to lobby for your own jobs?
My advice is get a haircut and get a real job.

  3. These indians are such a pointless pack of freeloaders. What does this organization do but try to figure out how to keep this gravy train rolling.
Lay them all off, they serve no useful purpose. They can then go from doing nothing for our extorted money to doing nothin on their own dime. I don’t think they have a dime … They never thought whitey would go broke … Why would they need to get their own?

  4. “We’re lobbyists and we’re supposed to be a strong voice for our people,” Bellegarde said. “But how can you be a strong, effective lobby organization when you’re dependent on Indian Affairs funding?”
Holy crap, I agree with him.

  5. A grupuscule requires 66 For all the money, they haven’t been very effective at their job. Or perhaps their job was simply to receive money. I suspect nepotistic loading.

  7. That’s the second guffaw today thanks to the CBC. These articles on “victims” of Canadian society are priceless. And the quotes! First the whining supporters of cannibilistic terrorists and now $117,000/yr. employees wondering who will spring for their pay cheque. So now that the Ceeb have lost HNIC, is this the new market they are going for – the online spoof? Direct competition with the likes of the “Onion” or “Cracked?”

  8. “7.2 million in salary and benefits, 66 employees…”
That kind of money could buy a lot of Cadillac Escalades.

  10. Not competing with Cracked, TC, because Cracked has comments sections that are always open!

  11. yes yes escalades, offices with hot tubs and wet bars, vac…erm, business trips to warm climes, colour TVs and much more, but why worry about 7.2 mil as there is still 12.8Mill to take “care” of. Shut Er down, with all the rest of the FN industry!!

  12. One correction; the GIC matured in 2013 and I can’t tell if they rolled it. But in any case they’re not revenue poor.

  13. You dont expect the CBC or the Red Star to actually look at their financials do you.. That would be racist.. Its hard to tell just who is the tail and who is the dog with so much wagging going on..
One thing is for sure they make beautiful news together..

Not to mention they would have to do arithmetic.

  15. Remember SINCO – a complete fraud…
Every Monday on one of their projects a truckload of chainsaws had to be brought in, cause the workers would sell them all for peanuts.

  16. Audit Perry Bellguard. To receive money tax free you must live and work on a reserve. Bellguard works on a reserve but he lives in Saskatoon. Where the F are you Revenue Canada?

  17. Laying off 66 staff ? What would they all be doing ? Oh yea….protesting anything that creates jobs

  18. You all are still not listening to us, (in my best southern drawl)
WE HAVE TO HAVE MORE MONEY !

Old news. 30 years ago I worked with a former senior auditor at Revenue Canada. He was in the process of assessing the leaders of various Indian Associations, some of whom had barely ever seen a reserve. He was quickly shut down.
