Al Qaeda seizes partial control of 2 cities in western Iraq
Over the past several days, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham, al Qaeda’s affiliate in Iraq, has taken control of large sections of two western Iraqi cities that were once bastions for the terror group.
ISIS fighters entered the cities of Fallujah and Ramadi, the provincial capital of Anbar, after the Iraqi military withdrew from them following clashes with tribes over a political standoff that resulted in the arrest of a Sunni member of parliament.

wash, rinse, dry. repeat.
The Kurds have been making separate oil deals for over a year now without the central Iraqi government doing anything about it. A Shia government in Bagdad sending troops out to put down Sunni and Kurdish rebels might start a new war. Oh, sorry, the war really never stopped.
These fools are so easy to get all riled up and go after each other.
Then sell them weapons so they can kill each other.
Then the rest of the world, the civilized part, can live on peace.
The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham? Wow!
Good job al Qaeda is on the run and Barry is in charge. Otherwise, it would be a lot worse if that dingbat Bush was still in power.
This has got to be Rob Ford’s fault. No wait….I mean Harper’s fault or could it be Mike Harris’s.
Choose one.
These are the consequences of an unfinished war and letting one’s enemy remain.
Obama can own it but so can Bush. He should have razed some many things/people to the ground.
Terrific. All that American blood spilled in fallujah for nothing. Thx Obama.
I think anyone who was watching from our side was more than a little disappointed when General Schwarzkopf’s U.S. forces weren’t allowed to take the brass ring in Iraq and go for that taboo “regime change” after they’d liberated Kuwait in 1991. It would’ve been better for everyone, including Saddam Hussein, who was dug out of a hole and eventually executed for crimes against humanity, the Kurds to name one group, but certainly not for those elusive WMD’s. It later became “Cheney’s War” as Halliburton made billions. Such a protracted war would not have taken place, many lives would’ve been saved, and the reputations of Georges Senior and Junior would not appear quite so tainted. As it was, Bush JR unilaterally attacked Iraq anyway shortly after 9-11, so it seemed like a double standard. But, timing is everything in money and politics…
So whats the problem?
Iraq is a success story for the current administration.
And considered wonderful foreign policy by John Kerry and What difference does it make gal.
Mission Accomplished!
Are we all feeling safer yet?
We have been doing this ever since Korea, 1954.
South Korea now sells us nice cars.
Vietnam sells good baseball caps.
People tell me Afghanistan sells good heroin.
al Qaeda will sell oil to the Europeans…
–
We pay trillions for the combat, hundreds of thousands dead American boys,
millions more mental, emotional, and physical wounded in VA hospitals,
and the fucking politicians walk on water, and get all the money and glory.
Like we used to say in Vietnam, we are killing the wrong sons a bitches..

And, do they have a couple of cities in North America – or is Washington still the only one?
