As I remember it, the Iraqis said no to an American presence. Nothing to do with the dog eater. And further, anyone who thinks an American presence in Iraq (continued) would lead to anything but more dead Americans and angrier Muslims is a damned fool. That it is thought that Bush had won the case in Iraq then it was thrown away by Hussein, is pathetic twaddle. America+Islam = America fails. It doesn’t matter who is in office.

Yes, especially when Open Borders and lax Liberal immigration policies have filled western countries with million’s of Muslims, Jihadist’s or other enemy of the west.
The US has at least 35 well known Jihadist military training camps within its borders, and Canada its own as was represented by the Toronto 18.
Every western European country is at risk of “domestic terrorism” at the hands of Islam within its borders, and most have already experienced some.
Of course it will continue whether Western countries remain in the Middle East now or not, it works the same way for India, South East Asian or West African countries that are not engaged in military action in the Middle East. They still experience the violence of Islam in their own countries every day as well.
This violence will continue and grow in the west regardless of what the west does now. The only solution will be isolation of Middle Eastern and all other Muslim countries forcing them to correct their own internal problems. Deportations and closed borders to Islam will wake up the so called “moderates” very quickly.
Islamist “suicide bombers” are well known to western peoples, yet they don’t think it will ever happen here. The reality will be much worse, especially when these same “suicide bombers” develop or acquire biological weapons such as plagues, infect themselves, and then simply walk through western cities murdering millions.
The Liberal left has doomed the west to future terrors beyond anything else seen before.
Unless prepared to throw infinite resources at de-Islamizing the Islamic wastelands, there is no point in being in the region with a military presence. Iraq was poisoned by Bush 41 by abandoning the Shiites to Saddam for a decade to marinate. Other than temporarily altering the balance of feuding sects in the region, no long term changes will have occurred from the waste of blood and treasure from US and allied involvement and that applies to Afghanistan equally.
The schizophrenia continues under Obama as he essentially grants Nukes to Iran while screwing Israel and the Saudis and yet supports AL Qaeda in Libya and Syria.
The beauty of Obama’s Middle East policy is that it guarantees a nuclear shooting war over there that will give the Sierra Club what it wants: gas so expensive that only those with trust funds can afford it. Thus, the planet is saved with only a little collateral damage in the form of radiation and massive death and casualties.
I have a great deal of respect for Krauthammer and none at all for Obama, but this line of reasoning requires one important fact to be ignored. US forces were withdrawn from Iraq on a timeline established by a Status of Forces Agreement negotiated by the Bush administration and signed in the fall of 2008. Granted, a competent foreign policy team could have renegotiated for more favorable terms, and Obama’s failure to do so is typical of his failure at everything in which he takes a hand, but when he took office the wheels were already rolling toward what’s now happening in Iraq.
Krauthammer is wrong, period. He is probably congenitally unable to admit he’s wrong.

He said that Geithner and Bernanke should be toasted for “saving the economy” which is not just wrong but the polar opposite of the truth.
