And now, for something completely different

Putin playing Obama, Obama playing his base, Al Qaeda playing everyone.

In a chilling alliance that could turn conventional wisdom about the current Syria debate — and the revolution’s players — on its head, signs continue to mount that show al-Qaeda is working not against Bashar al-Assad but in concert with the dictator.
This includes assassinating key Assad opponents, coordinating attacks, not targeting each other’s positions and helping push a War on Terror narrative to keep Assad in power.

The timing seems suspect to me about this story, but it’s something to keep in mind. Palin had it right. Let Allah sort it out, and when it’s done, figure out what to do.

  1. Terrific. I do recall Assad giving refuge assisting to those murdering our troops in Iraq, so this seems plausible.
Lets just nuke everybody just to get this entire region off the front pages.

  2. Perhaps this will sound offensive and stupid, but it is a serious comment.
The middle east badly needs a loud BOOM! followed by a big mushroom cloud (maybe 2 or 3) to act as a huge bucket of ice water onto the head of all the loons in that entire region. I know, I know … innocent civilians, “moderate” muslims, etc. etc. blah blah blah.
In support of this suggestion I will point out that ever since the good guys dropped two nukes on Japan in August 1945, nobody has heard a whsiper, not a word, not a syllable of trouble out of those guys for the past 68 years. In short, 2 nukes WORKED!
The weirdbeards of the mideast need reminding that we’ve spent the past 35+ years trying to “understand” them and their supposed grievances … we’ve had enough, we’re all tapped out on patience, and they NOW need to STFU, get to WORK building FUNCTIONING societies, and quit whining / blaming the rest of the planet for everything that’s ugly over there.
A couple of well-placed nukes delivered with malice by our team are long overdue there.

  3. And just when your mind is reeling from the material in this post comes another story to add to the mental mayhem that is Syria.
I give you this…. Umm, our numbers may not have been quite right… say Kerry/Obama.

  4. playing both sides from the middle and then controlling he who is left standing in the end, no Lance the timing has nothing to do with it, it’s a wonder no one considered this before. Al Qaeda wants to win, and any method will do.
Davers6, I’v been saying essentually the same thing since the start of the Afgan war, about 12 yrs ago

  5. Understand this: All islamists, whether Al Quaeda, Sunni or Shia, want to re-establish muslim supremacy – for Sunnis, through the re-establishment of the Caliphate. All regimes are enemies for them. Any alliance, for a muslim, is strictly temporary.

  6. Al Quaeda is a CIA rogue asset and has been armed and funded by them since the Russians were in Afghanistan – they use them now to destabilize ME nations who refuse to bring their economies/central banks/currency under IMF/WBC control so the whole region will collapse. The stupid buggers are dupes of US/bankster foreign policy and doing the pentagon’s work for them. The US foul ups in Egypt, Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya are all because Obumbles is so inept he can’t even run a proxy war for his banking patrons without tripping over his own dik.
