Eco-terrorists are becoming bolder: Protesters who attacked the test drilling site for a potential Northern Wisconsin mine have posted video of their assault on line. In the video, masked attackers are seen physically assaulting a female Gogebic Taconite employee and stealing private property.

Then the protesters who targeted an iron mining company went back to their camp, packed up their iron camp stoves and iron propane tanks, got into their iron vehicles and drove home on roads created and paved with huge iron machines. Oh, the irony.

Authorities had better bring down the hammer on these green shirts. Law abiding citizens will only put up with this crap for so long and they will then take the law into their own hands.

The “protesters” miscalculated, I think. There were quite a few burly guys there so any fight would have been one-sided. Still, the oil company dudes did the right thing. Any violence on their part would have been truly counter-productive. That video shows pretty clearly who the aggressors were and the level of their intelligence. I’m not at all sure why that eco-group thought that posting the video was a good idea.

If these “protestors” (I’d have to say that “terror*sts” is a more accurate description) are so certain of the rightness of their cause, they should be proud to have their faces and names associated with their actions, and consider any legal consequences as a badge of honor, as have protestors in many causes in the past (think Gandhi, Martin Luther King, etc.). The disguises they all use as a large group accosts one lone worker are indicative of their true lack of courage and conviction; they get their kicks out of destruction and intimidation.
If you have to hide your identity, you have no right to expect others to believe in your commitment to your “cause”, let alone support you.
Hate to say it…but I think conservatives are all talk. None of you or your ilk are brave enough to break heads even if it means breaking the law…laws which, by the way, are made by an autocratic gov’t that want your money via taxes…but don’t give you anyting back in return–think Caledonia. You’re a bunch of fangless, toothless, clawless, tough-talking-only, “tigers”. I think the last real tigers the conservatives had were the hard-hats in New York who took on the hippies.

The authorities, despite all their NSA spying, cannot spot a danger if it bit them on the nose. The Russians told them of the Boston Bombers, who were on the watch-list; but they weren’t watched or stopped.

As a Wisconsinite, I ask you to recall (no pun intended) the events of 2011 through the attempted recall of Governor Scott Walker in June 2012. The left not only invaded and befouled our beautiful capitol building, they threatened lawmakers and their families with harm and death. They walked around the streets of Madison, our capital, dressed as zombies (and folks around here refer to Madison as Madistan or “30 square miles surrounded by reality”). It is the deepest of blue counties. They showed up to protest at a Special Olympics event, standing between the Special Olympians (who, if you don’t know, are physically and/or mentally disabled individuals.
This is standard operating procedure for the Wisconsin left, and they are doing it intentionally. They are trying to make this mine so expensive the company will pull out and — by extension — tell other business of which they disapprove they will receive the same sort of welcome here in Wisconsin. They tried to kill this mine by voting it down in previous legislative sessions because the state’s Democrats (the ones who fled to IL to prevent Governor Walker and the Republicans from reforming collective bargaining in the state) could NOT fathom handing Governor Walker and the Republicans a win on jobs.
Northwest Wisconsin has some of the highest unemployment in the state. These mining jobs are those “living wage” jobs the Democrats are always b*tching about people needing. Except Wisconsin’s Democrats/progressives/liberals don’t care about Joe and his family of four in Eau Claire living in poverty if giving him a job that pays $50k+/year makes Republicans look good or worries the eco-nuts. You don’t need a living wage when the Earth First nut-bags don’t like the mine.
Pull up a map of Wisconsin and take a look at it. You want to know how unhinged and idiotic this opposition is? I live in the southeast Wisconsin area, in Milwaukee. Find it on the map. There are liberals arguing an underground well here in Milwaukee (the Pryor Street Well) will be contaminated by a mine hundreds of miles away in the opposite corner of the state. I. Kid. You. Not.
Wisconsin did, after Governor Walker took office, pass conceal carry laws. If I owned this mine, I would make sure that every one of my employees received the proper training and licensing to carry. Then — when the Earth First nut-bags block roads so police and medical personnel can’t get to the mine site — I’d let my employees carry on the job and defend themselves against these goons. And I’d let them languish in pain from a gunshot wound to the kneecap while the ambulance was stuck by a road block they built.
The company hired armed guards and the left absolutely freaked, calling it an “overreaction.” Did you see the video of this little raid? Not an overreaction by any stretch of the imagination. The guards were pulled because they weren’t licensed in Wisconsin, but I suspect they’ll be back. And I hope they are. It’s time to meet these liberals head on.

About 27 years ago, a palladium/platinum mine opened up in our rural, sparsely populated county here in Southern Montana. We were assured by the local affiliate of the Northern Plains Resource Council that this mine would despoil the land and beautiful Stillwater River and harm the local wildlife. We were told that any economic benefits from the new mine would be only temporary because mining is “boom and bust”. The greenies did all they could but were unable to stop the project.
As usual, the leftists lied. The area up near the mine is still scenic. The river still runs just as clear and clean as it ever did. Deer and mountain sheep still abound, and the occasional bear has to be “shooed” out of a portal when it decides to go exploring. What has changed, though, is that our area is much more prosperous than it ever was. The mine has had a huge ripple effect throughout Southern Montana. People came from all around to work here for good pay and the best benefits in the state. Young folks that would have left here for work have stayed, and their kids are doing the same thing. It is an environmentalist’s nightmare: orderly exploitation of a natural resource to benefit working class people and the country.
One good reason the mine workers don’t “fight back” is that they want to keep their jobs. Fighting, even if totally justified as in this case, is a firing offense on a mine site. The workers, unlike their pathetic, whiny attackers, need jobs to feed their families, as opposed to enviro-freaks who typically have trust funds or welfare to live on. It would be a lot of fun if these cowards took their act to a working class tavern near a mine on a Saturday night. Might I suggest either the Five Spot or Chrome bars in Absarokee, Montana. I assure you the outcome of that encounter would be much more satisfying.
Chivalry really is dead. I ran a lot of drill camps in my younger days and it blows me away that the drillers, outnumbered but with access to all sorts of tools (“weapons”) stood around pulling their dorks while the gutsy lady was abused by the thugs. Heaven help us if North America is every attacked by seriously nasty people because they will surely win.
